Watching her play, she makes barre chords look easily and played with minimal finger pressure. I’m squeezing for all I’m worth and still can’t play a clean barre chord. I have a 214ce that was properly set up by the good folks at Sweetwater. What am I doing wrong? Beautiful job on the vocals and guitar work!
one thing this guitar has a much shorter scale length so the strings have much less tension. I have a 814ce and just bought a 412ce Rosewood and it plays like butter compared to the 814ce because of the shorter scale length. playing closer to the frets does make a difference in how much pressure you need to apply. I love my new 412ce Rosewood though. the 24 7/8" scale length is closer to my PRS McCarty 594 singlecut. longer scale length more tension on the strings. many with the longer scale length ill tune down a half step to get the string tension down. of course, then you need a capo on 1st fret to be in standard tuning, but many prefer the feel.
@@leesamuelson thanks. Today I adjusted the truss rod and it plays much better. I’d been hesitant to try the adjustment but there’s really nothing to it.
@@steveavant9727 yes having the neck as straight as possible also helps out tremendously! Usually Taylors are pretty good aslo for nut depth but sometimes the ycan be cut a tad deeper to get the strings closer to the lower frets also. Rare but have seen on occasion where they are a bit to high. My Taylors necks are so straight you can barely see the string move while checking relief. good that you got it better!
