Edmonton Oilers vs Dallas Stars Conference Final Series Preview and Prediction!

  • Connor McDavid and the Edmonton Oilers make their second trip to the Western Conference Finals in three years as they take on Miro Heiskanen and the Dallas Stars! The #texashockey have a massive depth advantage over the #oilers as they can roll all 4 lines and get contributions up and down the lineup, whereas Edmonton is more top-heavy, relying more on their top guns and powerplay to get them through their opponents. If Edmonton's goaltending can hang in there against Dallas then I can see this series going 7 games. If Stuart Skinner struggles, then the Oilers can kiss their Stanley Cup hopes goodbye. This is by far the biggest test of the playoffs for both teams in my opinion, and I truly believe the winner here has one of, if not the best chance at winning it all. There is much to discuss so sit back, grab a snack and enjoy the video! 💙🧡💙🧡 #nhl

Stars fan here, but I've seen some of your vids the last few months. Looking forward to this. Its been funny that every round has been a current or old Stars rival since they moved to Dallas.
Speaking of tears, 97 was the only time a sport made me cry. So we have something in common.
Given the way the Stars are built, a week ago i thought maybe they were tailor made to beat the Oilers. Maybe they still are but since i live in vancouver, i saw all of the previous series and the last 2 games were impressive and i thought, maybe they can pose a legitimate threat if they can play that way consistently.

For a team that won 16 straight this season, I sure hope they can dig deep enough to win 8 of potentially 14 games remaining. Just need 1 game over .500, to win the cup.
One game at a time. The stakes are higher, the intensity is up a magnitude. Now we're going to see precisely what this team is made of.
Hopefully McLeod gets some assists for Edmonton this round, and not for the other team. Here's hoping he stays out the box as well. 🍻
Dallas is incredibly seasoned, and I think they are the toughest opponent remaining in these playoffs. Ranger and Panther fans who might balk at that, can play the world's smallest violin, but Dallas is the best collective team left at this point.
Doesn't mean they are unbeatable. If Edmonton can get past them, they will have to dig deeper than they ever have before, and they will be that much better prepared for whoever comes out of the east.
    Go get 'em, boys. 💪🛢🍻🥳

What a win over the Canucks in Game 7, and what an exciting time it is to be an Oilers fan!! Back in the conference finals, baby!!! I was only a year old in 2003, so unfortunately, I missed out on our playoff battles with Dallas from the late 90's and early 2000's. But, I'm super pumped to experience this old rivalry for the first time in my life in a brand new era!! Although the Stars are certainly an excellent team, I think that if the Oilers play like they did in Game 6 and most of Game 7 against VAN, they'll show Dallas a thing or two. Like you said, we need excellent goaltending from Skinner to match Oettinger if we want to win this series. If we get it, I'm going to say that we'll take them in 6!! Excited for tomorrow night. LET'S GO OILERS!!!!!!!

Dallas doesn't have experience oilers have and with addition of Paul Coffee on as defense coach has made this team play like he did great defense and scoring as Well I really liked when the LA kings captain at end of series said after loosing 4 games to 1 that Edmonton are a different team this year after him playing them 3 years straight he said of oil they have matured as a group and so much experience that was from Dor not sure spelling of his name but oilers impressed him from the other 3 years and if they kept the pedal going they would be hard to beat it's still any of four teams could win so exciting

I have done some crude calculations:
The record for the Oilers under Knoblauch in the regular season was 46-18-5 with a P% of .703 and a goal differential of +73. The Stars were 52-21-9 with a P% of .689 and differential of +64. So far in this year's playoffs Edmonton has an 8-4-0 record. Dallas is 8-5-0, with one extra loss.
I have also been able to calculate a projected GF and GA for Edmonton (once, again under Knoblauch) in an 82 game season to be 307 GF and 221 GA. Meaning a projected differential of *+86* .
You might be wondering why I have excluded the first 13 games of the regular season for Edmonton. It is because the team was starting a new defensive system from scratch with coach Woodcroft and any result during this _time_ _of_ _learning_ _is_ simply *unrepresentative* of their current capabilities. The Dallas stars did not undergo any such changes so their regular season remains an appropriate measure for expected success.
Believe it or not, when it comes down to the final results, the current Edmonton Oilers team actually does have the edge. A Better P%. Higher goal differential. And less playoff losses (but the same number of playoff wins of course).
These are my logical conclusions based off of the facts. I know a head to head match up in the playoffs is different than regular season stats and early playoffs, but this series has the _potential_ to surprise A LOT of hockey fans.

  • @christiankeighley3278
    @christiankeighley3278 28 дней назад

Stars fan here. I do think it will be more tight checking then you anticipate, the defensive intensity and synergy that the Stars have played with really since game 3 of the Vegas series has been the best I've ever seen in my 10+ years watching the team, and the question is less of will that continue and more of how consistently will the Oilers be able to crack it. The Oilers are going to have to turn it up a notch, similar to periods 1 + 2 of game 7 as well as the last 3 minutes of that game. Will the Stars PK be able to improve? What will we see from Skinner?
Just as you understandably have this coin toss coming up Oilers, I see the other side of it. I think we see a lot of 4-3, 3-2 games where the Stars defensive structure, discipline, and intensity inches it out. Stars in 6.

    • @AHockey1993

I agree to an extent, but the Avs were incredibly shorthanded in the back half of the series against Dallas, losing Toews to injury and Nichushkin as well. Plus their goaltending with Georgiev made them much less of a threat for a Cup this year IMO but still a good team. Vegas of course was one of the toughest matchups any team has had this post season and even though Dallas fell behind 0-2 in the series they dominated the advanced metrics and eventually came out on top.
This is a massive test for the Oilers. IMO it's the Stars series to lose. It will be a very fun matchup and I think closer than people think as long as Edmontons goaltending can be steady. If Skinner falters early then EDM is done in 5 or less lol

As long as the curse doesn't continue the NHL I think for some reason don't like a Canadian team win the cup it just seems since the Montreal Canadiens made the cup final with Carry Price standing on his head he never played a bad game there entire run Perry was on that team also Eric Stall was brought in for there run and the way Price was playing they would have won the cup if he wasn't hurt by other team still think it was a dirty take out that totally deflated Montreal it was a dirty end to a unbelievable run by Montreal and Carry Price since then I don't trust NHL I hope I'm wrong I think if we ever had a chance this is it too 6 oilers players are leading scoring in playoffs and if oilers play like they did in game 6 5 to 1 win and carrying it over to game 7 I heard a Dallas caster say oilers don't have any scoring other than the two main guys which is total b.s don't know what oiler team they were watching but all oilers were dangerous power play almost 100% with power play 40% oil in 6

Welcome! This is the only Pro-Edmonton Chanel that I will watch. I hate the spitting chiclets gang.

Problem is Vancouver doesn't come close to Dallas' depth.

@@SS-iv7wv Vancouver played their a**es off, and had a goalie making unbelievable stops on a regular basis. Do not under value the effort that team put on the ice.
Don't be afraid of the team that gets 50 meaningless shots. Be afraid of the team that gets 15 good ones.
The net is going to look just a little bigger behind Oettinger, after being robbed on so many chances by Silovs, and ya, I know how incredible Oettinger is too, but he's shaky at times, just like Skinner.
If anything, Vancouver did Edmonton a favour, by testing their mettle, and prepping them for a better team, with shakier performances at times.

We beat the loser Canucks - they have the worst fans - so just happy they are out

All the Canucks fans I interacted with here were great, just a loud minority like usual making the rest look bad IMO

Every team has toxic fans, man. People need to stop pretending that their favourite team doesn't. I see plenty of cringy Edmonton fans that just make me facepalm.
The only fanbase that has a track record of being garbage, is Toronto. Some of the most delusional, obnoxious fans in pro sports.
Every spring, their team is the biggest pile of garbage who have no spine, according to them. Every fall, these same people are prepping the cup parade, and you are just jealous that your team isn't as good as Toronto, once again, according to them. Toronto fans, need professional help.

Yea you probably saw one video of a delusional canucks fan and that makes you hate all canucks fans now. You cant just generalize an entire fanbase off a small vocal minority.
