Story Of Shukra (Planet Venus) - The Fourth Navagraha
Shukra or Shukracharya, is the deity of the planet Venus. Shukra literally means "white" or "bright" in Sanskrit. Shukravar meaning Friday is dedicated to this planet. This wise and learned Navagraha member plays the similar role of a mentor, like his fellow Navagraha, Brihaspati, the teacher of
Shukra was one of the sons of sage Bhrigu and thus the grandson of Lord Brahma. When they were young, Shukra and Brihaspati studied under the same guru, Sage Angirasa, who also happened to be Brihaspati's father. Shukra was known to be more knowledgeable than Brihaspati. He went on to study the Vedas under the rishi Angirasa but he was disturbed by Angirasa's favoritism for his son Brihaspati. He then went to study under rishi Gautama.
Shukracharya is also known for his hatred toward Lord Vishnu for what he perceived as the murder of his mother. Initially under the protection of Lord Vishnu, it was difficult for the Asuras to defeat the Devas in battle. Having lost several times, the Guru of Asuras, Shukracharya performed penance to Lord Shiva to obtained the Sanjivani mantra that was capable of bringing the dead back to life. Meanwhile, Sukracharya asked the Asuras to take refuge at his father Maharishi Bhrigu’s ashram. The Devas and Indra used this opportunity to attack the unarmed Asuras. In the absence of the sage, the Asuras fled to Bhrigu’s wife, Kavyamata for shelter. Kavyamata used her Yogic powers to immobilize Indra and protect the Asuras. Frightened by the immobilization of Indra, the Devas decided to take refuge at the feet of Lord Vishnu. Therefore, Vishnu decided to enter the body of Indra and to save the Devas. Kavyamata was enraged by this and warned to burn them down to ashes if they did not leave. However, Indra instigated Lord Vishnu to annihilate Bhrigu’s wife, and therefore, Vishnu used the Sudarshana Chakra on her.
Shukr eventually was blessed by Lord Shiva with the mantra to Mrita Sanjeevani that could bring back a dead person to life. Shukracharya used this mantra on the Asuras on various occasions to ensure their victory.
So Brihaspati once sent his son Kacha to learn the secret of the Mrita Sanjivini mantra from Shukracharya, the guru of the Asuras. The idea was to help the Devas with the knowledge of this secret who was about to lose the war. Brihaspati also advises him to first impress Devayani in order to impress Shukracharya, who was very fond of his daughter. Kacha follows his advice and unknown to him Devayani falls in love with him.In the meantime, the Asuras want to kill Kacha, as he might be dangerous if he learns the Mantra. Every time they kill him, Shukracharya revives him with his art on the insistence of Devayani. The Asuras finally kill him, burn his body and mix his remains with alcohol. Shukracharya learns of this via meditation and he rushes to the court of asuras and consumes all the alcohol. Later he tries to revive Kacha who was now in his stomach. He teaches Kacha the Mantra and tells him to come out. Kacha comes out by tearing his guru's stomach open and brings his life back with the help of Mantra.

Shukra does not seek prayers, but instead attempts to teach us that with proper consideration and cunning, we can save ourselves. While Devas might focus on the state of others, as an Asura Shukra and his wisdom are free of such constraints. Each of the incarnations/avatars of Shukra over the many centuries have kept private and for good reason. He mainly cares about offering the best advice and wisdom, both historically and though the ages.
So yes Shukra would agree, one should send their prayers to Shiva.

Very lucky to have Shukra as a heavy presence in my birth chart. Shukra rules over Taurus and over friday and I was fortunate to be born on both occasions. Shukra was known as an expert of war, able to overcome seemingly any obstacle, or use any weapon. Both the Devas and the Asuras came to Shukra for wisdom and knowledge. Incarnations/Avatars of Shukra over the ages have never drawn attention to themselves, probably due to their cunning nature (one of the aspects of Shukra/Venus), however I have met the Avatar of Shukra in our current age. Just as he was in the past, he is an extremely wise and humble Jyotishi Guru, however he resides at this time in the west.
I have to imagine there are incarnations/avatars of other classical figures/grahas that have not been revealed over the ages or even now. But I cannot blame them for being private.
A similar curse was given by Lord Parshuram to Karna when he got to know that he was a Kshatriya as he was able to bear the bite of a big insect that he would not be able to use the knowledge He gave Karna when he needed it the most
Life of sukhracharya was so unfair and brihaspati dev got extra edge just because of favouritism..

what I like the most about these stories is that the Gods are shown to be so imperfect & whimsical and their lives are so chaotic. no wonder us mere mortals find it difficult to navigate our complicated lives.
As I see it, they were mortals who are directly representative of the essence of what they are connected with. This is why they reincarnate and are often seen as Avatars of their previous selves. The reason we haven't publicly heard of any avatars of Shukra, is likely because Shukra is the graha of cunning. Shukra also tends to overcome all obstacles, as he was an expert of war capable of using any weapon, and coupled with great wisdom and being a rishi he was able to foresee most difficulties. Shukra's job was being a personal advisor to a King, he prefers to advise those who he is destined to serve in each life, also preferring to avoid the spotlight of publicity if possible, and by doing so one is in a better position to slip past certain difficulties.
Shukra, and the other Grahas and mythological figures are out there. It's possible to meet one and be so unconscious as to who they are as to be oblivious.

I think there's a huge meaning behind this story...that even if you feel that there has been partiality to you..that doesn't gives you the reason toh choose adharma...we can also see this in Mahabharata via Karna.. similarly Shukra could have done penance and asked Lord shiva toh grant him the place that he deserved.

Yes, everyone has positive and negative aspects, but these asuras don't sit quietly but disturbs suras a lot, to ward off them, these suras need to do some negative things for asuras, which is again good activities!

When you have very big situations in front of you, in which you need to save the dharma, you should focus on the bigger dharma, with which you can leave the smaller dharma things in such scenarios!
Lord Krishna did the same everytime, without which establishing dharma becomes impossible!
This is the age of kali and people always follow demons like Ravana, Duryodhana, Karna etc cause people got polluted with evil characteristics and gets identified with these demons a lot, portrays that something bad or injustice was happened to these demons in the hands of devas!
Asuras were not innocent, they got their bad karma paid everytime, that's it.

According to Srimad Bhagavad
Shukra was split into 2 different forms By Lord Vishnu's order
Good one became a part of Deva ganas and obtained a position in Navagraha
And the Bad part was being the Guru to Daithyas and Rakshasas.
Kacha is bloody evil, He seduced guru's daughter because of which he got his life back N number of times and when he finally learns the mantra, he calls her sister? and now I do not agree Venus is named after this Kacha, that resembles relationship ? :-) .. Kacha to bada Kacha nikla.
