The appropriate seat height on a bicycle is crucial for comfort, efficiency, and injury prevention. A general rule of thumb is to adjust the seat so that when you're sitting on the saddle with your feet on the pedals, your knee should have a slight bend when the pedal is at its lowest point (6 o’clock position). Here's how you can find the right seat height: 1. Heel Method: Sit on the saddle and place your heels on the pedals. Rotate the pedals until they are at their lowest point. Your leg should be fully extended with a slight bend at the knee. If you have to stretch to reach the pedals or your knee is too bent, adjust the seat higher or lower accordingly. 2. Knee Angle Method: With the pedals horizontal (at 3 o’clock and 9 o’clock), your forward knee should have a slight bend when your foot is at the bottom of the pedal stroke. A good starting angle for the knee is typically around 25-35 degrees when the pedal is at the lowest point. Small adjustments might be needed based on personal comfort, but this general guidance should set you up well. Riding with the proper seat height helps to avoid knee strain and allows you to use your muscles efficiently for smoother pedaling.
I have the Addmotor Grandtan. Great Trike! Very sturdy for gravel and trails. I am making videos exploring my community using it on my RUclips Channel.
I’ve watched a lot of these and for me to buy one they will have to lower the center of gravity and take that rear derailleur off because it gives a bike a low ground clearance. Besides it’s only used as a backup system to the electric bike. The 65+ crowd will not be pedaling anyway so go single sprocket front and rear.
I disagree, I am 69 and have been riding a Liberty Trike for several years and I find myself wishing very much for more than a single gear for some additional exercise.
