In this tutorial I teach you how to Ribbon Spread cards like pro. Or like a magician. Or like a pro magician. Whatever! 🤪 Spreading playing cards on the table is an elegant flourish, looks impressive, but is quite easy to learn! Great for beginners! I will teach you how to do this, with extra troubleshooting tips towards the end... PLUS a bonus magic trick at the end! Using the very flourish you have just learned!! 🤯
Aaaaand here are the links I mentioned in the video...

Murphy's Magic 23"x16": amzn.to/3fa708q
Magic Makers 18"x14": amzn.to/35RKdds
I measured my close-up pad, and it is 19"x14". I would not recommend going much smaller than the mat I have. So either of the options I listed above are fine. And in fact, when I order a new one I think I will go for the larger size of 23" width (the Murphy's Magic option)... because it would just be nice to have more room to ribbon spread the cards.

Neat video. I always wondered how to do this trick. As always, your explanation was clear & easy to follow and...I laughed out loud at several parts. You’re a real card (sic)! Cool magic trick at the end; that was a nice bonus.
Awesome! Thank you!
Why don’t you get more views you deserve it☹️
I dunno. I'm trying though! :)
Great tutorial video - the way you handle cards looks so smooth and effortless! Learning how to do that magic trick is a real bonus👍
Thank you! Cheers!

Glad you liked it!
This was a great video!!!
Thank you Billy! :)
Loved this tutorial! I have tried to do the ribbon spread unsuccessfully on and off, but now I know why my cards keep bunching up at the end! And loved learning the trick! Now I am going to go impress my kids! :-)
You are so welcome! Thanks Gigi! :)
Thanks Jason, and I have tried this "wave" before and surprisingly for me,I found it wasn't too difficult, unlike many other card moves; but hey I'll take any credit I can at this point!I'd love to see more of these types of videos so keep it up and thanks again .
Nice! and thank you :)
You're amazing dude I'm having trouble doing it. May be it's because I'm just trying this with the UNO cards on my bed 🛏️😂
Great stuff man! I merged what you said, so in the card trick, I first spread the cards face down, then rode the wave, made it face up and finally picked the card out. Worked like a charm! Thanks a lot!
Nice work!
Great video only one thing… NO TUTORIAL TELLS ME WHAT TO DO WHEN I HAVE AIR GAPS IN THE SPREAD
Awesome tricks thanks Jason! Your arms are impressively huge you must workout.
Your editing is amazing! Funny, informative, and an all-around wonderful production. Liked & shared!
Thanks so much! And I really appreciate the sharing! :)
So cool! Been looking forward to this. Worth the wait.
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for the nice comment too :)
How long do you need to practice
because I am willing to put in maybe 20-30 minutes, but if it takes to long i dont know
Thanks a bunch for a great tutorial! Managed to pretty much nail both the spread and the ripple in a matter of an hour with zero prior experience.
One thing I noticed while experimenting - spreading cards *along* their length also works, and works surprisingly well. I initially tried doing the ripple on a quite slippery mousepad, and failed a thousand times, eventually moving to the carpet and doing it perfectly immediately. However, when I tried rippling the horizontally spread cards on the mousepad, I nailed it on my first try. I still can't do the normal ripple on this surface, but for some reason the horizontal one works every time. It also looks even more trippy than usual!
Wish i can buy a byc deck ... theres no shop no online shipping that ships here .... so either i travel or i use the worse cards...
Hey jason ive been trying but my cards dont want to get off the pile of cards and keep getting stuck
Takes ring and does vanishing trick
Wife : Death it is then....
l love the content! Bonus points for comedy!😀👍
If only I did not have the coordination of an Ox with oven mitts on, then maybe I could try this. :D

Thanks for sharing your knowledge, it really helps spread the fun of magic.
I still can't do it😩
Super card magic
Super card magic
WATTTT
I don’t get it
Tried this over and over again and could not spread the cards evenly.
Edit: I figured it out. I'm using cheap Maverick Jumbo's on a desk mat (giant mouse pad with felt top) and it helps to regulate your downward pressure on the deck along with using your fingers as a regulator at the same time. So, I'm pressing down on the deck to make each card "grip" to the mat while also letting it slip behind the rest with my index finger. Difficult to explain, but I'm getting better.
You're essentially regulating downward pressure on the deck, momentary release with index finger while at the same time working all of this in relation to the speed at which you're moving you're hand. The speed at which you move across the mat determines how you regulate the downward pressure and release of the cards. It's all connected. Physics, eh?
Thank you!
You bet!
Did anyone else laugh at the card being the 8 of hearts, after that one triple-fooler? Maybe it's only because I just watched that video very recently, but... I'm amused. :)
Hi there,
you are a great tutor. The language you ate using seem to have a psychological science and power behind it. the spectators cant not pay attention. You simply keep on attracting them toward your training with your body language and your unique way of explaining things.
I am learning and enjoy watching your videos .
Bad!!!!!!!!!!!!?
The most satisfying magic trick with cards EVER! Thanks for the tutorial Jason!!!🔥🔥😁
The key card is more commonly used for the gamblers con: I bet $20 the next card I turn over is your selection.
Very nice video bro that was amazing 👍🤗

100% The best tutorial out there. I loved the troubleshooting part

Good idea! extra grippy :)
@@JasonParkerMagic sometimes it messes me up cuz my finger will get caught
You should make a video on 3 card monte
Are you goimg to do the tutorial
Hmmmm... it depends.... are you going to do the tutorial?
If u want i will but if u dont want i will not
Did not expect to watch a full 14 minute video about a ribbon spread but here I am now ready to ride the wave 🌊
hahaha.... glad you enjoyed it!
Do not underestimate the size of the mat you need. You can see that he almost barely can do the spread before running out of space. If you go smaller than that, you can imagine what would have happened.
I just browsed Amazon before using the link provided. The ones listed here isn't very prominent on the first search results (however they are highly recommended by the amazon reviewers). The ones that are listed on top are very cheap, thin, and undersized. Do not get those.
Yep that's correct! I do recommend a large mat... like those I linked to in the description of this video 👍
My favorite peek for a simple key card is to hold the deck in my left (off) hand (or on the table) and cut roughly half the deck. With the top half of the cut in my right (dominant) hand, I casually point to the bottom half of the cut and ask the spectator to place their free choice drawn card down. The action of pointing naturally draws the face of the bottom card of the top half of the deck towards me. This will be the key card. I can peek the key card while looking directly at the bottom half of the deck where I’ve just drawn the spectator’s line of sight.
I place the top pack down, which pairs my key card up, and now we can do any number of whole cuts.
This works as an easy out if the spectator wants to put their card in the middle, if your preferred method is to place their chosen card on top of the deck - although I find this method more believable.
You can even have the spectator make the initial cut, so long as you scoop up the top half first.
Another out is to use the waterfall and have them tell you when to stop. Where they stop is where they will put back their card. Then the cards are already positioned correctly in your dominant hand for multiple opportunities to peek a key card.
Very nice!! Thanks for sharing this 🙏 ♥️
Make a tutorial about the fan
That's pretty cool.
I have been enjoying your reaction videos (and bonus fables!) but seeing these 'simple' magic tricks is a lovely introduction to the fundamentals of card manipulation.
New video, yesssssss. So happy.I know better variation of trick, i mean to look key card ;)
Glad you enjoyed! You have a better way of glimpsing the key card?
@@JasonParkerMagic yeah very easy and basic, if you do it if you do it very fast then its impossible for spectator to notice it
Damn... Watching this and it looks soo easy and wanna try it(and will) but know my thumb is in the middle of the hand. Hoping this is one of the "fancy" moves that even I can do. Great tutorial either way!! Recently found your channel and love it. Both react videos and tutorials. ❤️
Thanks very much Andreas :)
@@JasonParkerMagic you're welcome. Keep it up! :D
@@JasonParkerMagic oh man! 6 months later and I feel like Im so close. 😆 STUPID ASD THUMB IN THE MIDDLE OF THE PALM!!
Anyways, prolly the longest Ive been trying to master something like this(usually give up after a day or two:p)
I manage sometimes but half the time it just becomes a mess so gotta perfect it. 👍
