    I came across this place about 6 months ago and managed to clamber very dangerously up to the small bedroom above the kitchen. There is an old metal single bed and another cupboard if I remember correctly. Also there is an old shed that was totally overgrown which was to much to get to.

    What an interesting little place, as you say it would be fascinating to know the history of the house and the people who lived there. The drone will be interesting when the wind dies down and as you get more skilled flying it.

    This was where the late "Black Robert", Robert James, lived. He was a hermit type, and was "black" by virtue of being very soot-stained and rather unwashed, and always dressed in dark clothes. He was an accomplished musician, but had some odd event in his life that turned him into a recluse. I lived in Walberswick, and walking about on dark nights, sometimes came across Robert, who would say, in soft tones "watch out for the cars, they can't see you". Despite his slightly scary appearance, he was the gentlest of men, and it annoyed many of us who knew him when ignorant folks shunned him, especially when he came occasionally to Southwold. He was born in about 1930, and after a fire at the house, was persuaded to move to a Home in Reydon, across the river, where he died on May 23rd, 2012.

      Thanks for all that fascinating information, we hadn't been able to find any information about this house other than it was probably once a farm house so it's good to know abit more about it now.. Sounds abit of a sad story though.. 😔

      @@ExploringWithEmAndStu The house is on what was the Blois family's Blythburgh Estate, of some 2,550 acres, and which they held for centuries. Blois sold the estate in about 2018, and I think the house was part of the package. The estate employed a lot of people, including gamekeepers and warreners, and I know the grandson of one of the latter, whose Walberswick mother went to school with mine before the last War. I think that the house was occupied by various of Blois's estate people over the years, but I'll see if I can find out a bit more.

    And this place was probably dated from the 18th/ 19th century apparently! It’s called Tinkers House !

    • @ExploringWithEmAndStu
      @ExploringWithEmAndStu  3 года назад

      Yes its a fascinating place to stumble across and I'm sure it certainly has a story to tell.. We were aware of the name but had avoided mentioning it in the video as it would give the location away which could possibly result in it becoming even more damaged.. We're planning a revisit in the near future. Thanks for watching 😊

    Nice one guys....looks like the person in that abandoned house was a real hoarder. Sad to see it in such a state. Thanks for sharing. I learnt from experience buying cheaper drones and then bit the bullet and went straight into drones costing over a grand. The difference in control and quality is second to none. I spent endless money on drones under 200 quid and found they weren't that good tbh.

    • @ExploringWithEmAndStu
      @ExploringWithEmAndStu  5 лет назад +1

      Yeah it was a really interesting place to explore.. I think we were a little too optimistic thinking we could fly that drone for the first time in all that wind but we're hoping to try again over the weekend weather dependant! Thanks for watching 👍

    I love this explore.I love the old buildings you find.I reckon Emma could be right that that cupboard was for guns.Do you think there had been a fire in the kitchen bit or its just decay from having no roof?It looked blacker there than in the other bits.Love what you do.Enjoy the rest of the lovely weather were having at the mo.xx

    • @ExploringWithEmAndStu
      @ExploringWithEmAndStu  4 года назад +1

      Yes Dave it is called the Bailey Bridge.. Heres a quick bit of history on it.. The bridge is based on an old iron railway bridge, which had been built with a central swinging section to allow wherries and other vessels passage into the river Blyth.
      It was destroyed during the Second World War to deter invaders.. Hope thats useful, thanks for your comment. Em 😊
