Man, i cant say enough how awesome your content is. Im a southern guy, grew up hunting and saltwater fishing. Later in life at 25 joined the air force and been stationed in spokane for a couple years. All the videos being so local have given me alot of insight into my same ole past times but with that washington flare.
I remember finding your channel back when it had only a couple hundred subscribers and that pushed me to get out and try some muley and bear hunting. Got my first bear in 23' and still trying for a muley.
But I missed the big water fishing and finding this makes me want to bust out the old shark rods and chase something better than bass and rainbows.
Dudes like me really appreciate all your content, it helps us figure out methods to do what we all love in areas that are so different from home. Also super entertaining to watch.
On another note, you being on the Gritty podcast just brought it all full circle in my mind. Them guys were massive as well in my growth as an outdoorsman.

FYI: Those first two adolescent Sturgeon that you caught were "green sturgeon." They are endangered, and easily identified by their pointy nose, and large gill-plate.
Additionally: Feb-June timeframe, those larger breeder size sturgeon will search-out warmer water (with swift/shallow/rocky conditions)... Spawning happens when the water hovers around 58 degrees. In optimal conditions, the eggs hatch in about 2-weeks, and they spend the next 1-4yrs growing 12" each year (in fresh water). Soon after they reach sexual maturity, they begin migrating like their parents.
Females only spawn every 3-5yrs... Unnecessarily stressing these larger breeders may result in them not spawning; which inevitably depreciates our sport fishery.

biggest snake r. sturgeon i ever got was downriver from l.granite at lil goose ... try the north shore, about 50 yards downstream from the earth embankment of the dam. (roll mop always worked for me) ... some big cats down there too. good luck!

Yup. Here in Washington it is illegal to fish for Salmon and Sturgeon at night.

Seeing those bigger Sturgeon reminds me a lot of when Bonneville Dam had Herman, which was one of the better memories I had growing up. Also, love that White Pelican just casually chilling, floating down the Snake River in Washington as if it was the most natural thing ever for a White Pelican to do. WTF haha

@@thedude1056 Yeah he did. I found out a few years after he died that he had, but there's virtually zero documentation on him of any kind, so I never figured out exactly when he died. I believe it was 2012 though.

Crazy cool fish! My favorite is northern pike. If I was younger it might very well have been sturgeon! So prehistoric! But I don’t have the strength for them 😂 giant fish and great video!
