Remove the trac bars and unhook your sway bar. It'll ride a lot softer on the trails and will flex more rather than lift wheels. Best part is that it's free to do and if you don't like it you can put it all right back. 👍
You might want to buy you a articulating hitch for your trailer. You may have already thought about it but will help on them trails. Another great video man.

Thanks man! Yeah. I’ve decided that I’m building out a JKU rubicon as my official overland rig. Between the lockers and the extra power it has no problem pulling the trailer anywhere I want to go.
Hi SMG Fam. Late to the party for this episode. Nice video. Lots of beautiful scenery up your way. We've been driving a bit of the SCAR near Sumter. We're going to head out today and explore another section near Monticello. Many thanks for making the SCAR known to us while we were still in South Korea. It gave us something to look forward to. @@SimplyMustGo we were delayed until today. Rain made things pretty fun. Lots of highway on this trip but we got a bit muddy and came across some wild turkeys so totally worth it. You can see the video on my channel if you're interested.
Small lift and lockers is all you’ll need for the YJ. Although YJ’s were geared on the tall side. The 2.5 could use some 4.10’s. Had my CJ for almost 40 years and it has the 2.5, it does fine and it’s carbureted so less power than yours. It’s light and it climbs like a goat. I don’t pile a bunch of stuff on it. The factory rear posi traction is pretty tight and works really well. I put an Ox Locker in the front. Works great!
My suspension was completely shot on my yj so I replaced everything with a rough country 2.5 inch lift. Much softer ride and more flex. Still looks pretty stock. Helps keep the tires on the ground when she gets crossed up in the ruts.
Hey Matt , you really need to get some lockers buddy. A lunchbox up front and a cheap way to go for a YJ rear is put in an 8.8 ford LSD . They can be found in 4.10 like your stock Dif. You will be amazed at the difference.

I definitely recommend Detroit Truetracs for the YJ. I have them in my Fiancee's 1995 YJ and they are great. The Truetracs have gotten us out of mud, over rocks, sand and anything else. They are a no maintenance required locker and lock up when you send torque through the drive train. They are silent on the road and unlock/slip when on the road so no chirping or anything else. 100% agree - I put a TrueTrac in my TJ and I could go through areas in 2wd that 4wd wouldn't prior. I eventually put an air locker in the front but it was crazy how seldom I needed it - pretty easy to do as a driveway job as well.
Well I’m glad to see we can still go outside in SC! I was gone for some years and it’s nothing but gated communities in the lower part of the state ALL of our trials are now gone. Big sad down here

@@SimplyMustGo watching the video you came off the power every obstacle before you should have. Try a lower gear in low range and keep the foot in it till you clear the obstacle. Also it appears your tires could use to be aired down which will help as well.
@@KLRCoop yeah. I was aired down and in 4L in first gear (it’s a manual) it’s just those obstacles are a lot bigger than they look on camera and I didn’t want to risk breaking anything on the Jeep pushing it too hard.

One of the towns you went through was Westminster in Oconee County. I love this area and plenty of places to explore. If youre back up this way check out Muster Grounds...but i would suggest a lifted rig because it gets rough but will challenge your wheeling capabilities. Also check out Horsepasture, access to it is in Pickens county. When you get to the top theres a look off that has a spectacular view of lake Jocassee. I have a few questions. Do you think I would be fine with the rwd tacoma? I don’t do much off roading but I feel like I’d know what would get me stuck (it seems like mainly mud would be my challenge) but I do like to explore the off shoots like you guys do in the videos. My second question is, I probably wouldn’t do much of the southeast section and I’d be looking to hop on somewhere in the middle of the state, somewhere preferably with more trails/gravel than road. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
For the main sections of the SCAR you would be fine. Some of the off shoots and “trails” to campsites might be challenging for a RWD. I guess the sections you want to hit might depend on if you are planning on camping along the trail and if you really want to do dispersed camping or if a forestry campsite is ok.
