This awful bike playes its part in the downfall of the British bike industry. As Norton tried to keep up with the Japanese all it could think of was boring out their cylinders. The result was crippling vibration and a mercifully short production life. The splendid Commando that followed solved the issue, but still left the aged parallel twin to shake itself to pieces.

Had a MK2A 850 Commando. Loved it!
However it ate gearbox bearings.
The british could have been class leaders.
