- Pre spawn walleye patterns and locations on Green Bay with guide Bret Alexander. Classic cold water/ early season strategy where finding walleye is often about water temps and stained water. During these conditions, hair jigs can be absolutely deadly.
We use the Northland Deep V Bucktail Jigs and share some productive tips on how to use bucktail or hair jigs for spring walleye. Not all hair jigs are created equal. The subtle ness and natural profile of the right hair jig can catch spring walleye when nothing else will.

I really appreciate how Jason handles these fish. Out of the water for maybe 20 seconds to take the hook out and take a picture. Love that shit
Definitely looks like a great time. Great video!!🐟🐟
awesome video jason! big fan of your podcast too. hope that keeps growing
Going to French River, Ontario this summer. This is a very realistic swimming baby pike. Will be a great addition to the tackle box.
13:40 "these fish just have more horsepower than a normal walleye".. That's a great lakes walleye for sure
seems that 35 degree water and colder is hair jig time. im sure bigger window but from my experience especially this fall in to winter things fell wayyy off when it got colder than 35. heard of all white deer hair hair jigs work good.
Love GB walleyes!
Less hair is better and bear hair is BEST. It really flows nicely
28in 7.7 lb. St.Croix like your show

Happens all the time 😀
Awesome vid good to see Brett wondered how is eye is doing after taking a lure to it
Are those fish safe to eat?
Yes you can keep one fish that time of year and we have eaten them.
Jason, been trying to find your line of walleye rods. Can’t find any. Help?
We discontinued the open water rods a few years ago and are working with Scheels to develop their rod line.

Love oconto Wisconsin my birth place, best life ever groing up,
what size hair jigs ?
We used mostly the 3/8 ounce
@@JasonMitchellOutdoors 2' or 3' stinger hooks?
@@troymaziarz3343 believe they are two inch stingers that you can buy from Northland that slide onto the hook.
Never remove hair from a hair jig. (aka bucktail jig)
We have done so on many and like the hair to be thinner than what some people tie. We believe many hair jigs are over tied with too much hair which affects the action. Each their own.
Not impressed by that guide.
Thanks for you input 👍
