We were very disappointed with the "Grease" play as there were so many songs that are not in the movie & some of the songs that are in the movie but they sang them in different scenes. Over all it was a cute play as long as you are not a huge fan of the original classic movie as me & my family are; however, if you are a fan of the movie please be advised that this play has massively been changed from the movie & you may also be let down!!!!

Actually the stage show came before the movie and the new songs for the movie (Grease, Hopelessly Devoted to You, Your the One That I Want) were used in future productions of the show.

Yup! Broadway production of grease (which u saw at the muny) opened on Broadway in 1972, and the movie came out 1978!

The Original Broadway production was a thousand times better than the 'bubble gum' movie version. This revised production is all over the place and doesn't look authentic or very entertaining at all.

Why does MUNY make many of its shows gospel shows, using gospel singers. I couldn't even tell this was "Grease" with all of the extraneous gospel stuff. They don't even show the star of the show Sandy in this. Let's stick to the story, and lose the extraneous stuff, folks. I guess it's near St Louis with a large black population. That's why many of their shows are transformed into gospel shows.

killerbees312 Representation and diverse casting is important when putting on productions in these days. I’m African American and I’m I’m about to play Jan in a production of Grease. It makes me happy and inspired to see people who look like me embrace these characters and make them their own. It’s a little hurtful when you generalize the presence of African Americans as “gospelizing” the show.
