I would really like this interview to go viral for two reasons. No 1, what an inspirational story for people in disadvantaged situations and No 2, how bad our remote health care system is !
This beautiful lady saved my sanity many times and our sons life multiple times. Her and her company are the most awesome and supportive people I know.
This beautiful woman and family is why I do what I do every day. I can't thank this family enough for trusting me through the hard times and always laughing with me and giving out hugs! These people are the real reason Ohana is successful!!! Love you guys Always x
Everyone reading these comments make sure you keep an eye out for @KaitlinCurr this woman inspires me everyday!! The way she provides care to other with such love and compassion while being a strong corporate woman -- this girl is gonna move mountains!!!!!!
Penelope has a great story of taking immediate and practical action to serve a need. It's organic start was met with entrepreneurial enthusiasm and tenacity. I like how Penny continued to expand with add on products and services from the early momentum of her disability support service. Cheers.
Penny’s attitude towards her 4 beautiful kids….I need to change my attitude towards mine. I’m not present enough to appreciate how much love and happiness they have to give us. They are the reason. Thank you so much again for everything x
@@nathanmannix5746 Oh Nathan, that was so kind of you! I can assure you that my kids drive me crazy some days too!! LOL All jokes aside though you sound like an amazing Dad!!
Another cracker pod, lads! Penny, LOVE your story and style, and how you explained your ADHD. I had a wakeup call earlier this year (after doing *exactly* what you mentioned - burning out a few people who couldn't keep up with me) that my brain actually doesn't work the same way as others, and that's OK! I consider it a bit of a superpower too, but *knowing* this now keeps me mindful to not get so frustrated or p*ss off those close to me :) Your story as a mum, entrepreneur and decent human being (what a combo!) is inspiring... I think as women we let our heads get in the way of ourselves sometimes (moreso than men... cue the "say yes" Branson quote!) - I know plenty and I've also been guilty in the past of thinking my way out of great opportunities. More of the same please team UE! You can't be what you can't see 💪
Adam, what you’re saying at 42:30 is so true. I remember my friend and I (women) both not having our roadtrains one day, for some reason. The leading hand asks us ‘Have either of you done any low loader work?’ Well, we both had a little experience, but we both said ‘No, never.’ And we knew that a man would say ‘Yeah mate, all over it. Chuck us the keys!’ And he’s work it out. We discussed it, and I believe our reasoning was responsibility. That if something had gone wrong, it’d most likely be put back on the leading hand and his shoddy training, rather than our performance. And there was so many blokes working there who bullshitted about having roadtrain experience, which horrified us! If something goes wrong, you have to continue with the BS! Im just too straightforward to be able to do that! It probably comes back to the make imperative to provide. No matter what it takes. It’s admirable.
What an amazing woman, leader and lover of God and People you are Penne! You are exceptional and inspiring!! Be blessed - you are a lighthouse! Well done Guys for choosing Penne!
So, the business model for this company is dependent on government funding? Is that right? Feels wrong ethically to be making money off a taxpayers? How do others make this feel right?
Wow. Perhaps take that up with your government, the funding for these programs is a completely different topic to Pennys story and service. Most wouldn’t even dare this line of work because no amount of money could compensate for some of the things these workers are forced to go through.
The NDIS is a government funded program to help the disadvantaged and marginalised within our communities who have significant disabilities. There is a desperate need for good operators with hearts like Penny’s to help these people and to save lives. This impacts our community and society is a whole for the better. Also Penny is working with the people that other companies are too scared or incapable of handling… She is providing a highly valuable service to a community that desperately needs her not only do they need her business but they need her heart and her entrepreneurial skill and determination. Our world needs more Penny’s and more businesses like this.
@@markdipaola6480 2 seperate thoughts I had in that. The ethical part is a personal thing I guess. I think collectivism and communism is morally wrong. But also, on a business side, how does Adam think about this business model? If the government decides to strip funding, the busienss goes bust overnight.
Big cringe moment when old mate said “I have two girls myself, healthy girls, ya know, no autism” 😬 Just because a child has autism, doesn’t mean they’re not healthy? 🥲
Leah, trust me, Eric is an extremely kind person. He meant zero disrespect. He was simply trying to coach his comments in empathy by expressing that he knows that he isn’t dealing with same challenges as Penny. Of course he doesn’t consider Autistic people as unhealthy. It was poor phrasing and nothing more. You can see how much admiration we all have for her and the work she is doing.

She’s amazing. What I noticed too was a lack of self depreciation. Americans are definitely way ahead of us Aussies in this arena.
