  • This film is the second in a series of ten, documenting the highs and lows of a motorcycle trip from England travelling through France Belgium and Germany.
    Episode Two relates to my journey from Bellignies to Haybes, in the Ardennes, France, travelling through Wallonia Belgium.
    The adventure was a solo camping trip, moving day by day to new camping locations, for which there will be separate film reviews, and I hope you find them interesting and useful.
    This is a new format for me, completing a video record of a complete journey, so no doubt I'll learn a lot for the next adventure, and indeed was partially a dry run for longer trips in the future.
    If you would like to support the channel please feel free to donate whatever you can afford, it will go towards the cost of producing the videos and every little helps.

    The thoughts and actions outlined in the video are personal to me and everyone will need to view things from their own perspective.

    Looks like you had better roads now you are there, its the same when me and my mate meet up in Scotland and wales there is alway some rubish travel before the adventure begins. Theres always the two of us so we are alway talking during rthe ride via intercom. Ive had the tent for a couple of years/exped and do love the room for a 1 person tent.

      Hi Kenny, yes the riding was much better and some brilliant roads! I’m just editing Episode3 and struggling to get it down from the current hours worth….but I’ll have to be ruthless 😂 The tent is excellent, to be fair I’ve also got the Elixir2 so new what to expect but this Elixir1 has a very roomy feel to it, particularly for a one man tent, and I’ve got an MSR Gear Shed that I’ve not used, other than reviewing it, as never felt need with the Elixir2 but also fits the 1 so could make the 1 a very versatile set up!

    Great videos on your trip. Completely get why you keep saying about that first day on the motorway being horrible. I have to go through it myself as I live in north wales. It’s a long slog to Dover and then some in France. I did do hull - Rotterdam last year which was fantastic but so expensive. That trip I based myself in the Vosges for a few days to tour around then in Luxembourg near the Belgium border for a few days before home. Great trip, thinking of dining some of it again in 2024 as pushed for time again.

      Yep, I was done for on my first day travel from Lancashire…I’ve done Hull a few times but as said it’s so expensive! I enjoyed my trip very much and would definitely go back to the areas visited, although I’m thinking of longer trip but still pondering when to finish working and where to head for!

    Hi Andrew,
    Great you are showing us your camping trip.
    Funny when the camera was tilted and you were talking to the the lady I thought I recognised the site. And indeed iit is Haybes, I was there in June while cycling with the Elixir 2. What a coincidence. You should have gone to the bakery in town it is wonderful.
    Thanks for bringing us along. Cheers.

    Great video! I’m from NL and just spent 10 days solocamping in Scotland in my MSR Elixir 3 (demo tent with bargain price). Had a blast, despite the rain.
    Is the Elixir 1 a keeper vs the 2 you already have? I really appreciated a larger inner tent to store all gear inside and still spend an evening inside when it was pouring.

    • @thecampingbiker791
      @thecampingbiker791  Год назад +2

      Hi Dennis, the Elixir3 must be massive inside…glad you enjoyed it despite rain… how about the midges!
      Yes, the Elixir1 performed brilliantly for a relatively light one person tent with great feeling of space, but also equally like my Elixir2 but now for more base camp camping than day by day. I’m increasingly reducing stuff I take for this type of trip and the 1 works well within that.
      Coincidentally, I also have a MSR Gear Shed that attaches to both tents so lots of flexibility between the two. Because I review tents I have a few at home and some, like the Robens Voyager 2ex, which copes better with winter, however if I could only keep two it would have to be the Elixir’s
      There will be a review on the Elixir1 coming out soon 👍🏻

    • @dennisgeerling
      @dennisgeerling Год назад

      @@thecampingbiker791 thanks for your feedback! I agree that the Elixir is a robust tent, and the 3 offers tons of space, without taking away a lot of space when packed. It is a little heavier than the 2, but on the bike I don’t notice the difference. Probably different when hiking.
      The midges were not too bad, I expected worse. Looking forward to your upcoming videos. I am well aware of your excellent review videos, that’s how decided between MSR Elixir vs Nature Hike. Carry on the good work!
