Hi everyone! I'm an American from the Northeast (New England). I want to create a watering hole for people who want to discuss, learn and teach about history through RUclips videos which you guys recommend to me through the comment section or over on Discord. Let's be respectful but, just as importantly, not be afraid to question any and everything about historical records in order to give us the most accurate representation of the history of our species and of our planet!

Shark Tank is based on Dragon's Den, which itself was inspired by a Japanese show called Tigers of Money. All the characters are (hilarious) parodies of the real hosts.

I just nearly spat my coffee over my keyboard when it showed Paul with his almost crossed eyes. Have a look for Dragons Den and see how accurate this is. The Dragons depicted here are from the original line up, so you'll need to see an older episode than one from the series currently running.

Dragons Den was the original show. The likenesses of some of the Dragons are amazing, like Theo Paphitis and Duncan Balantyne. Great clip.
Please can you check out a UK show called Facejacker" its very funny, similar in style to Ali G. A good starting point for clips would be anything featuring characters Dufrais, or Brian Babonde, or Augustus Kwembe.

To get the most out of this spoof, you need to know the 'Dragons' from this period of the show. Only Peter Jones (at the right) and Deborah Meaden (the silver/blond-haired Dragon) remain from the line-up portrayed here, plus the presenter, Evan Davis (who also presents one of the BBC's main news/politics shows on Radio Four). The others were Theo Paphitis (second from right) who's actually of Cypriot origin and the Scot, Duncan Bannatyne (far left). By the way, Peter Jones is the dragon's real name but here he's called 'Peter Jones (John Lewis)', as we have a chain of department stores called John Lewis with its premier outlet called Peter Jones.

You don't multiply the investment amount by the stake % to get a company value.
I beg to differ, because that is exactly what what it is and exactly the Dragons do... Want £50,000 for 10%? Thats £500,000 you're valuing your company at. I've seen people say £80,000 for 2%... The dragons go crazy, because that is 4 million. Unless you have profits of 4 million, or assets worth 4 million into the business, your business isnt worth 4 million and hence why the Dragons get mad when people make such absurd claims.
While it looks like 2/3 mins on television, the actual pitches are well over 2hrs long, the dragons read all the paperwork and judge their worth of the value of the business hence why they almost ask more because pretty much everyone over values their business. Not to mention the fact, that you're asking THEM to help YOU, so it has to be worth their time. The program is 5/6 pitches each episode very heavily edited for entertainment value plus highlighted comments one might remark during the process into a 1 hour episode!
