Thank you so mucho bro, ive trying to find someone pining a stick bug for so long, mine extratosoma titanum just died and i wanted to pin it. From brazil btw
my mom always told me stories back when I was younger and she said that i would catch bugs and eat them (especially cockaroaches) lol ... never remembered xD but ever since then i had an attachment with insects, nd yes I dont eat them anymore lmao. love the videos, keep em coming
I just watched Praying Mantis die and I want to immortalize her by putting her in a frame. I didnt think it'd effect as much as it did but I ended up crying till I couldnt cry any more. Thats when I decided to put her up on my wall
Do u have to do anything to make sure the bug doesn’t decay? My mantis just passed and I wanna frame but I haven’t seen anything abt taking insides out or anything so I didn’t know
Hey Kelvin I'm new to mounting insects. But I see that I got insects that r dries bit not into position. Where do I get them like that? I wanna position them myself. But all the places I looked they r all in position ready
Amateur here but hopefully I can answer your question. Big bugs like this usually have all the insides taken out (this one did) which prevents them from rotting and are sometimes stuffed with cotton or fiber to protect them from caving in. After hydrating & mounting, the specimen has to be dried completely and it should preserve as is. There are some things that can happen such as mold or grease but generally it can just be cleaned again with special methods. Biggest tip usually is to put a moth ball in the case with the specimen, temporarily to kill off any living insects that might try to get in and eat your specimen.
You never made the video on pinning mantises or butterflies 😭😭😭😭 I got to where you said to use the other method for those insects and was like MANNNNN 🥲
Hey man! I bought it on eBay. I just checked my purchase history to see who the name of the seller was, but it unfortunately only shows my purchases from 2021 and up, and I bought it in 2020. Sorry about that :/
I’m not even interested in insects but enjoy you made it really informational~

Thank you so much ! I’m getting into pinning and framing bugs so this is incredibly helpful

Bugs dont decay :] !!
@@bredlesquiddoyeah, but they can start to rot…
Big insects need some of their insides to be taken out to prevent rot, for the rest i think people just dry them but im not a great expert
I rehydrated my Heteropteryx, but it smells awful like something rotten. Do you have any advice for getting rid of the smell?
Loving this channel
Great work man
How do they get them dried out without destroying the body ?
And awesome videos my dude. Keep it coming strong 💪🏽
I’m pretty sure they naturally dry out when they die so u don’t have to do anything to make them that way
I like this guy
Beautiful insect! I'm guessing if this one would continue to have this colouring if you put her in resin?
Alot of insect color will last years even decades after pinning as long as they are in an environment with the right lighting

Do you put something on it to stay preserved through the years? Does the insect ever decay in the display?
