This is the same as the "original". The Enhanced Edition is a community made mod to fix the original PC version which was very broken. Nowadays it does some things better than even the PS2 original like better FMV quality, better audio, upscalled textures, real widescreen, 60fps support, modern controller support, etc.
Something I absolutely LOVE is that those sounds you hear on the walk into town are SOLELY there to fuck with you; there are no enemies or any way to die before you get to town. 14:42 "I did this in the first game as well... I thought Harry was dead." Funnily enough that actually is the bad ending of Silent Hill 1; Harry died in the car crash and the whole game was his dying dream.
That and one of the games made years later after they started outsourcing the IP to different companies used this idea for reference when designing its plot.

But they do lose their effect once you figured out which ones are the ambient track. I think it's much more interesting when everything you can hear is actually something out there.

Silent Hill is a resort town. There's nothing wrong with it specifically. It's not empty or abandoned. The events of the games are specific to the people experiencing them while the town itself remains unaware.
Super excited you're playing this! Silent Hill 2 and 3 were a couple of my favorite games growing up, especially because of the unique and bizarre music.
I played a little bit of this game and its amazing how terrified you get sitting in the driver's seat compared to watching. Even seeing the walkie dudes in the fog overworld, "wiggly friends", scared the bajeesus out of me also, yay! thank you for immediately releasing this. I'm having a great time

I haven't been able to play any of the Silent Hill games, first because I lacked the hardware and now because I lack the money. But I'm obsessed with these games and how they leave you wondering, constantly guessing, never certain of whether you're actually seeing something real or imaginary. Silent Hill 2 especially is a work of art and I'm excited to see how you enjoyed it!
My first thought seeing the outfit is Sally from Nightmare Before Christmas 😁 Hope you enjoy this as much as the first one! I love the music in SH1, but SH2's soundtrack is one of the greatest of all time IMO. So good. Also, youtuber and Silent Hill superfan Eurothug4000 made a video about "Born From A Wish" saying it's her favourite part of SH2, but it's definitely something to play *after* the main game.
Also, it's so much fun to see you play through these games now *after* I've played Signalis (IMO the best survival horror game to be released in the past decade), because it has tons and tons of direct references to Silent Hill, including entire scenes that are basically pastiches of, or homages to, scenes in SH1 and SH2 (and probably the later games as well, but it's been years since I played any of them myself.)

Silent Hill 2 time! Even more of a classic than the first. I think this game immerses you into the atmosphere of the town so much more than just the graphics upgrade. Cool insight about the fog, seeing as hes searching for someone whos already passed, its almost like the main character is walking thru the afterlife themselves I think Sally would totally win a Halloween costume contest btw Great work!

The moment I would have turned off this game is the installation window! Not just when I was a kid but right now too. This game is way scarier than SH1. Still, I’m both excited and horrified for the next episode and for new costumes! This one looks cool.
About 3:34 - Assuming you're referring to Silent Hill, you didn't control Harry with the left analog stick? If when you played SH the left analog stick wasn't working for some reason (like you didn't have the controls-related settings in the emulator set correctly, or you hadn't enabled analog mode - via for example L1+R1+Select in SwanStation/DuckStation), you should be aware if you play SH again that SH supports the DualShock; SH was made with it in mind, and moving with the left stick has several advantages (primarily that it's more comfortable; less tiring). And regarding something else, based on 3:21 it seems you associate "tank controls" (properly called _3D controls_ - non-"tank" is 2D) with the directional buttons which is in a way understandable (due to pre-DualShock games with such controls) but the two don't have anything to do with each other at all; when you control Harry (or anyone else in any game with "tank"/3D controls) with the left analog stick it's still the exact same control system.

At first the leggy mannequins were unpleasant, but after seeing Pyramid Head doing stuff that definitely didn’t involve consent, I actually quite feel for them. He doesn’t seem very nice. I'm glad you decided to check out the original SH2 first) This game can be analyzed endlessly. The game speaks a monology of languages of perception levels. I advise you to think about everything that happens from all possible and impossible points of view. Pay attention. Team Silent created masterpieces of psychological horror. In this game, everything came together in the most successful and professional way. Like any classic masterpiece. Every detail becomes iconic and has its own meaning. That is why making a remake of such a game is a thankless task. Any change will inevitably harm the perception. It will not have the same effect. Even the eminently professional actors who simply re-voiced the original SH2 in the re-release of SH2 HD collection, did not cope with their task, mostly simply because they sounded different, the semantic accents of the original disappeared, and the magic of SH was lost.

I quite like your pearlescent green skin. It complements the surreal atmosphere of the game, where you're never sure if what you see is real. 😄
