      @John Hagemeyer I'm not sure how much you know(if anything) about the secret history of World War 2, but are you aware that he made 20 offers of peace to Britain between Oct 1939 to June 1941.. all were rejected by Chamberlain and Churchill. However Churchill was under the influence of the Focus group from 1936 onwards. Robert Waley Cohen(Royal Dutch Shell) was chairperson of this group. Hitler also outlawed and closed down all the Freemasonic lodges in Germany. He also banned Pornography. He was trying to bring permanent peace to Europe! Germany was provoked and badgered into invading Poland. Look into the disgraceful behaviour of Polish Marshall Edward Rydz Smigley. Hitler was trying to reach a negotiated settlement with him over the future status of East Prussia and the port of Danzig(now Gdansk). Smigley and his foreign minister Josef Beck were under orders by agents of US president Roosevelt, not to negotiate with Hitler.. then beginning in July 1939 Polish militia and press enraged mobs began attacking and murdering German minorities in areas such as lower Silesia and Pomerania. These places had large numbers of Germans living here but it was under Polish control due to the terms of the Treaty of Versailles. So these mobs killed hundreds, which by Sept 3rd 1939 had become thousands as Bromberg(now Bydgoscz) was targeted and a total of 3,000 German people were murdered and in many cases their faces were mutilated by these cowardly beasts. So that's the only reason that Germany crossed into Poland on Sept 1st 1939 : to stop the slaughter of their countrymen....

    One important sidenote here… The „new edition“ which was a bestseller in Germany is very different. Since most of the content of the book are actually critical side notes of historians printed alongside the original text. So it was a try, to put the book into context. The reason for this is, since it is now public domain, everybody could print and sell it.

    I tried to read that book once. I got about one-third the way into it. It came across as having been written by a lunatic, small-minded and illogical, who was totally wrapped up in himself.
    I think Mussolini summed it up well: "a boring tome that I have never been able to read"; and he remarking that Hitler's beliefs in the book were "little more than commonplace clichés".

      Same here. Checked it out of the local library in high school, got bored of the silly repetitive insults and slurs. Probably didn't get more than 50 pages in. And some time later, a year or two, probably because history classes made me curious about what I'd missed, I tried again. Same result. Still a bit curious about what was in the rest, but two tries is enough. Even the recent annotated editions won't fool me again.

      It was in our school libary but I never risked it after trying Das Kapital by Karl Marx ( great for chronic insomnia )
      I have read " The Iron Dream " by Norman Spinrad which is science fiction and uses Hitler as a plot base to show a proud very patriotic soldier returning after a great war expecting a hero's welcome . But it is full of ' mongrels and immigrants ' , so he goes into politics to reclaim ' his ' old country .
      The book is good because at the start you strongly sympathise with him and his motives . But by the end you veiw him as a psychotic screaming lunatic . The trick of the book is you CAN'T pinpoint any moment where the change happens which I suspect is the whole point . It is 500 shades of grey .

    Having grown up with documentaries like World at War on the old History channel, I find portrayals of Hitler as a person more and more fascinating. I am by no means a supporter or admirer of the man but he's only ever been a two-dimensional face of evil in my head because of the old narrative woven out of the war by that generation. Speaking of, I've long believed that the movie adaptation of the Shining was based on Nazism. I just learned that Hitler's house perched on a steep hilltop was called the Eagle's Nest. The hotel from the Shining was the Overlook Hotel. Because obviously eagles are known for their acute farsightedness. It just so happens that the swastika was originally a good luck symbol. As in I'm looking over a four leafed clover that I overlooked before. The "Overlook Hotel" really ties these 2 concepts together. It would be really crazy if Hitler planned it that way and Stephen King caught his drift. Hitler's thought process was actually...dizzying.

    Mark - excellent video, as always! I’ve been watching your work for some time, and you truly excel at what you’re doing. For this particular video, I think I can contribute something: I’m no lawyer, however, being of German descent myself I did experience several inheritances in Germany and know a little bit about how that system works.
    There is one oddity in the narrative of your video that I can clear up: Hitler’s testament bequeathed the bulk of his assets to the German Reich. That entity doesn’t exist anymore, but the Federal Republic of Germany regards itself as the legal successor of the Reich. It should therefore have received the inheritance, right? However, as you correctly pointed out, it’s not the Federal Republic of Germany, but rather the State of Bavaria that is holding those assets. Why is that?
    Simple reason: that testament has never been executed. The State of Bavaria basically holds those assets as sort of a custodian until such a time (if that ever happens) as the testament gets executed and final determinations are being made. Hitler does indeed have blood relatives alive today. Any one of them could theoretically trigger the execution of the testament. The same would be true for blood relatives of his late wife, Eva Braun.
    With the designated executor (Bormann) certainly no longer alive, they would have to agree on an executor together with the inheritance court. However, that is standard practice and can be done. But here comes the rub: the executor would need to determine all assets of, and claims against the estate. He has to settle valid claims out of the assets, take a fee for his own services, before finally distributing the net value among the valid inheritants who came forward.
    Determining the assets would be hard enough, with so much time having passed, many of those assets having come into Hitler’s possession in questionable circumstances, many assets having been physically destroyed. Nevertheless, some of the real estate still exists, and is actually quite valuable (the apartment in Munich still exists, as do several other real estate holdings around Munich. And, of course, there are the royalties for “Mein Kampf”. It is generally assumed that this would be quite a sizable estate.
    However, there would be the descendants of literally 10’s of millions of victims of Hitler’s crimes that would be entitled to file compensatory claims against his estate. Sorting this all out would be both a spectacle and a nightmare. This would be the Mother of All Class Action Suits. Fear of this spectacle is probably the primary reason that nobody ever kicked off execution of this testament.
    Your video makes the statement that these assets no longer exist. That is certainly not true. It is much, much, more complicated than that.
    Hope this helps!

      The Bundesrepublik Deutschland was formed by Allied order based on the rules of the Hague treaty for occupied territory as an economic administration entity. By ruling of the German Verfassungsgericht at 21.12.1972, the Bundesrepublic Deutschland is not the legal successor of the German Reich, as the German Reich continues to exist in absence of a peace treaty, but without political representation. It was planned to have the 2+4 treaty established as a treaty similar to a peace treaty, but this treaty did not enter force so far, as the ratification by representative of the united Germany is outstanding. However the German public believes the the 2 + 4 treaty went in force as the representatives of the Bundesrepublik Deutschland still remain in power and state, that the treaty is in force ( which is against the stated requirements in the treaty). The treaty states:
      The right of the united Germany to belong to alliances, with all the rights and responsibilities arising therefrom, shall not be affected by the present Treaty.
      ARTICLE 7
      (1) The French Republic, the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics, the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and the United States of America hereby terminate their rights and responsibilities relating to Berlin and to Germany as a whole. As a result, the corresponding, related quadripartite agreements, decisions and practices are terminated and all related Four Power institutions are dissolved.
      (2) The United Germany shall have accordingly full sovereignty over its internal and external affairs.
      ARTICLE 8
      (1) The present Treaty is subject to ratification or acceptance as soon as possible. On the German side it will be ratified by the united Germany. The Treaty will therefore apply to the united Germany.
      (2) The instruments of ratification or acceptance shall be deposited with the Government of the united Germany. That Government shall inform the Governments of the other Contracting Parties of the deposit of each instrument of ratification or acceptance.
      ARTICLE 9
      The present Treaty shall enter into force for the united Germany, the French Republic, the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics, the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and the United States of America on the date of deposit of the last instrument of ratification or acceptance by these states.

      Lots of this is BS. Donations for National-Socialist party were certainly not Hitler's property. It's interesting that he tried to give a more austere and reserved public figure to Germany. He wore plain suits with only a few medals. And yet, he was cashing in even more than Goering who was openly ostentatious.

    • @josephmassaro
      @josephmassaro 3 года назад +4

      @SteppenWolff100 What do you think he's wearing in the thumbnail? It's hardly a uniform. At best, it's casual military of the Third Reich and a number of party member officers wore it. If you want to call it a uniform, I'll concede, but it's the most bare and spartan uniform he could go for. And on a side note, you accomplish nothing by being insulting. Manners are free. Get some.

    • @josephmassaro
      @josephmassaro 3 года назад +4

      @SteppenWolff100 I don't consider it much a military uniform. It might technically be, but as I said, it's very minimal. And my point stands. He went minimal for a reason. He wanted to convey a man of the people. Goering and Himmler were more flashy. Goering certainly earned a number of legitimate medals in WW1, while Himmler had little to speak of. However, both men were quite ostentatious in their respective ways. Hitler was all about presenting a certain image, regardless of his actual practices.
