Small correction: Eleonore Baur is actually from Kirchdorf am Haunpold (Bad Aibling is only a few kilometres away). Kirchdorf am Haunpold was actually the village that gave the commune I grew up in its name until shortly after the war it was renamed after the more important and bigger Bruckmühl.

He happens upon some oddity, and a raise of an eyebrow shows that he's found a nugget to make a whole video off of.

My mother’s mother was in Austria and was raped by her employer at the house where she was a servant. Got pregnant and was fired for it, gave birth to my mother and ended up killing herself. The scandalous behavior may not have been of this ladies doing and may have contributed to her outlook on life.
@@TheEDFLegacy I wasn’t going to answer you, should never have done the first post but maybe it can help someone with context. The stigma was transferred to my mother and she was handed around the family and not treated nice. She went through Weimar, survived through the war, married my father who left for Canada while she lived in an army barracks for two years while my father made enough money for passage. In Canada she literally worked in a sweatshop at a sewing machine, she use to use her lunch break to sew us underwear from scraps. When things were finally getting better she died at 37. @@D-B-Cooper The beginning of the 20th century was a tumultuous time for Europe and beyond. My great grandfather in Ukraine saw the writing on the wall so to speak and sent my grandfather to Canada to live with friends. The next year, he sent his second eldest son to reunite with his brother. The two brothers managed and married. Can you imagine going to a country where one not only didn't know the language but didn't even know the alphabet??? All communication with the East was nonexistent through the Depression and WWII. It wasn't until the late 50's or early 60's that the Red Cross was able to connect us with the remaining family left behind. We learned that my great grandfather had been sent to Siberia and all his land confiscated. The youngest brother and his wife were executed due to partisan participation. This is revolution; this is war. At least you knew your mother. You have your memories. Be thankful for that. You are not alone. I have recounted my history and I know that there are others with similar stories. What worries me is that young western people have no clue as to how bad life may become. Hopefully, they will never learn. Take care, John.

its the little things like this, a female general in 1940s Germany, that make history so fascinating. Thank you, Dr. Felton, for shedding light on this!
Perked up when I heard Bad Aibling. In June 1971, my family was on vacation at Chimsea. Chimsea is a large lake in Bavaria About half way between Munich and Bertchesgarden. My father was AF and we were stationed at Rhein Main. My oldest sister had a thumb slammed on a door and was in great pain. I went for the ride to a military dispensary which ended up being at a US Army facility in Bad Aibling. What I remember was how woodsy, green and lush base was. It was like it was hidden in a medieval forest. Not too exciting but it made an impression.
First Jewish Nazi soldiers and now a female SS General, one has to wonder the strange exceptions that happened during the Third Reich and how many have yet to still be documented or even lost to time
A Woman motivating the Women little need to cover that I figure more before now even though having Hitlers Ear for her to tell him things and ask him things and having high status in the party as you say makes her a inner circle luminary she should always be included when the inner circle is mentioned. Mark ALWAYS outdoes himself. Keep the history coming at the cyclic rate.
Mark delivers something special yet again - amazing story few have heard of!
That’s near Lewisham…London
You would get lost walking in your GARDEN. !!!!
Thank you for commenting on the content of video rather than just talk about the uploader.
@@miguelselemane6233 Kirchdorf is certainly closer to Lewisham than it is to the South Pole ...
Just when I think I've been a good student, studier and seeker of history I am humbled again. I wish I could've had Mark, or his equivalent (should such a person exist) as a history teacher.
I get blown away frequently by you sir and apparently on a consistent basis that should be perceived normal by this point. Bravo!
Thank you Dr. Felton.
I consider myself to be an avid WW2 amateur history buff, however I had never heard of Eleanore Baur.
Thank you so much for another wonderful history lesson.
I can just picture Mark rifling through black filing cabinets in a huge room, lit only by a few hanging ceiling lights. He draws out one drawer after another, checking each file with care. He happens upon some oddity, and a raise of an eyebrow shows that he's found a nugget to make a whole video off of.
Very well said...
...smokey room, empty scotch bottles...
I always imagined that that he had a team of students researching this stuff and drafting scripts.
The many many hours I've spent learning about World War 2 I never had a clue that Hitler had a female general. Thanks for enlightening us on this topic. 🙂👍🏻
Here come the neo Nazis again. Only trouble with these vids they attract loonies whom no one would otherwise listen to.
Immediately had to think of Frau Engel from Wolfenstein^^ It's just amazing that your content is always of such high quality, best history Channel on RUclips by far!
Or Frau Bluecker (horses neighing) from Young Frankenstein?
Still so good I can rewatch oldies and enjoy them waiting on research on the next new one! Great day to be a history buff.
This is awesome Dr. I love the obscure stories keep them coming so Grace kudos
Brilliant nugget of history to be brought forth. Much enjoyed and appreciated
This a perfect video for women's history month.
lol
Hahahaha, yes it is
Well yes important to bring the villains to light as well.

"Wayward National Comrades" somebody thought they were awfully clever.
Is it not?
@@Cherb123456 oh I think it's rather funny.
The first comment I read that actually comment on the video rather than the uploader..
@@DrJones20 yeah. Quite a few of those, though I can appreciate why.

You do amazing work Mark
Wow. Thats so fascinating that ive never heard of this in any other history about ww2 yet.
A absolute great channel you have Mark.
In the US, this channel would be worthy of a Pulitzer Prize for History. The amazing historical facts just keep coming.
Me to felton: you don't have any ww2 story left right?
Felton:smirks
Me : right?
He'll never run out of stories
@@tttbbbeee yes that's the idea of this comment
WWII history is just endlessly fascinating. Thank you for all you do!
Thanks for sharing. It is amazing how Sister Pia was an overlooked character.
Thank you Mark. A really interesting story superbly researched!
My mother’s mother was in Austria and was raped by her employer at the house where she was a servant. Got pregnant and was fired for it, gave birth to my mother and ended up killing herself. She was catholic so all the religious ramifications for her and the next ten generations. The scandalous behavior may not have been of this ladies doing and may have contributed to her outlook on life.
That's awful. 😔 I'm sorry about your grandma.
Today’s generation gets butt hurt when you use the wrong pronoun, be interesting to see what happens when the food runs out.
@weepiest nutt nice to get an evaluation from an expert.
@@pinkpeony2056 thanks.
Seeing each time the many enthusiastic reactions to his video’s I wonder how many people would have liked to work alongside Mr. Mark Felton in researching al this material? I guess quite some
Early bird here. Couldn't be excited more to see another MFP video.
I love these videos, so many dark stories we wouldn’t even know of if Professor Felton didn’t shed light on them.
Very interesting ! Thank you. I am going to follow your post. That’s again.
its the little things like this, a female general in 1940s Germany, that make history so fascinating.
First Jewish Nazi soldiers and now a female SS General, one has to wonder the strange exceptions that happened during the Third Reich and how many have yet to still be documented or even lost to time
Go to a library. They are still there. Not everything if fully explored electronically!
That's why you research and not believe what you see in Hollywood and our "history books".
@@swampdonkey1517 As example the diplomatic notes from the German "whitebooks" a few weeks before WW 2 broke out.......;)
Thanks!
Absolutely amazing! Such a inner circle luminary and I've never even heard of her. Thanks for the history lesson Mark!
A Woman motivating the Women little need to cover that I figure more before now even though having Hitlers Ear for her to tell him things and ask him things and having high status in the party as you say makes her a inner circle luminary she should always be included when the inner circle is mentioned.
I will remind loyal women to the cause in that type of system keep the men motivated and in line often and insure the future solders are properly indoctrinated along with lots of things that are vital but invisible on the male surface.
@@RedRocket4000 Women are naturally great healers and If you envision the witch as a healer it definitely could be a bit of a compliment to be called that but we all know in the innocence of children they do not know. I think that too many women now day's want to redefine natural order and are always confused by the outcome. Like we have men in MMA annihilating women saying they are women, the mess of the class socialism. is a virus that needs to be defined.
Either you're an american or you've been living under a rock for the last 75 or so years...Still an interesting episode.
Another interesting, informative and thoroughly researched piece by Mark Felton. Thank you. If the alpha soup media used folks like this for their news, we would ALL be the wiser for it.
Do you have any idea how much it costs to pay someone to do research and writing and narration?
Much, much cheaper to have a few talking heads spouting opinions and borderline lies.
Dear Mark Felton : due to your amazing skills at finding information on the infamous Nazi era, I can't wait to see what you can find on the atrocities committed against Latin America after WW2. Amazing research amigo, keep the good work. Greetings from Toronto.
Thank you, Dr. Felton for doing the research required to preserve history for all the world.
Brilliantly done Mark easy to listen and always interesting 👍🇬🇧👏
Thanks Mark, needed this after my country lost the third test cricket match against arch rivals, the English.
Lost?!?? do you mean like Joe Boden "lost" Afghanistan?
Yeah, you got a proper drubbing!
@@MrFunkia Donald Trump would've "lost" the place only he wasn't able to sit in the White House for his second term. (Note I didn't say "lose" with regard to the election, as that's a touchy subject for certain people in the USA.)
In summary: Donald started the process, and Joe finished it.
Obama started it, actually. Trump just confirmed it.
You plebs, I am talking about cricket. Sheeeeesh
Outstanding job, Mark. You never cease to amaze me with your subject matter and presentation. Well done!
A most interesting presentation Mark, thank you for all you do and share with us. My guess is that the children were correct: She was an Old Witch!

Great video!
The "conductor" who called her out for riding without a ticket then went on to stop the nazis from acquiring the arc of the covenant.
