Complete with in-flight refueling at a time such a thing hadn’t previously existed. Or the SS guards who served for the Allied powers afterwards. Including providing physical security at the Nuremberg trials and Spandau prison. The good doctor doesn’t go more than two or three months without surprising me. My great grandfather in Ukraine saw the writing on the wall so to speak and sent my grandfather to Canada to live with friends. The next year, he sent his second eldest son to reunite with his brother. The two brothers managed and married. Can you imagine going to a country where one not only didn't know the language but didn't even know the alphabet??? All communication with the East was nonexistent through the Depression and WWII. It wasn't until the late 50's or early 60's that the Red Cross was able to connect us with the remaining family left behind. We learned that my great grandfather had been sent to Siberia and all his land confiscated. The youngest brother and his wife were executed due to partisan participation.
