I met Sir Angus on entering a meeting where I was a delegate at a small round table. I told him how much I loved Edinburgh where I had attended a sabbatical year at the U and he said he thought Mexico was a marvelous country as well. Now I know his childhood dream of a warm tropical kingdom! Then in the meeting I questioned one of his more controversial postures in economic policy, and he charmingly made one or two comments. And then sent me to read some of his background work and referred me to various of his books! A very polite way to not get into subject matter he didn’t want to deal with that day.. but then again.. he’s the Nobel laureate, so I obliged!
