Thank you for this clarification of why Pope Benedict resigned. I had a suspicion it had to do with moral decay as he left so suddenly. I really liked this pope from Germany and was hoping he would last a long time.

Wow! The rosary is an abomination to God! I left Catholic Church 25 years ago because of the false unbiblical teachings, only God is omnipresent, see’s all and hear’s all, praying to a mere mortal is praying to a false god. Marry was a mortal with free will like you and I that was used by God, if she refused to be impregnated by the Holy Spirit God would have still loved her but would have found another young God fearing Jewish girl who would accept the task, God isn’t a rapist, he never forces himself on us, that wouldn’t be unconditional love. We are to direct our prayers to God (Jesus) himself, as he is a jealous God and will have no other Gods before him. Marry herself would take you by the shoulders and turn you toward Jesus herself, as stated in Romans 3:23, that we are ALL sinners, (all meaning everyone), marry was also a sinner and in need of a saviour herself as state in Luke 1:47. Be aware of any church that use another book which was written by man to teach their beliefs of the Bible other than standing on the true Word of God itself, as the Book of Mormon(latter day saints), the Watch Tower(Jehovah witness), the Catechism (Roman Catholic) their books to interpret the Bible their way (many false teachings). These churches will only use Biblical scripture that won’t contradict their teachings, which is totally against the word of God, it’s no wonder these churches are messed up. I know Catholicism the best because I was raised as a Roman Catholic for 37 years, I also served as an alter boy in my pre high school years, thankfully I wasn’t abused but left the church because I was made aware of the fact that the Catechism did not teach salvation through faith in Jesus alone. The Bible says we are saved by grace and not buy works, (Ephesians 2:8) no rituals, no jumping thru man made hoops, not by the Eucharist or how many times we attend the mass, not by going door to door handing out the Watchtower(Jehovah witness), these are all doing works, (Ephesians 2:8-9) which is what ‘religion’ teaches. Jesus himself spoke against religion as in Matthew 23:1-36, as this speaks of the religious Jewish leaders of the day but you can easily compare it to today’s religious authorities. Being Born Again (John 3:1-21) as a true believer and acceptance of what Christ did for us on that cross is what makes us free from all religious rituals and free in spirit to serve and obey the truth not religion! As a Catholic I was told that I had to confess my sins to a priest regularly then perform the repetitious ritual of the rosary as a penance, hmm, what if there isn’t a priest around? and as most people we wouldn’t change or correct our sinful nature because all we had to do was go back to the priest next week(providing we don’t die first). As a Born Again child of God we are told told to simply pray to your Father in Heaven who know’s all and see’s all and ask for forgiveness and He who is right and just will forgive you! (John 1:9) But what I had learned in the word of God is that the key word is ‘REPENT’ sincere Godly repentance, ‘repel’, turn away from our sin and go the other way. ( acts 3:19). I tried to keep this letter short but there’s so much to say, most of my family is still in the Catholic Church, it’s hard to turn away from how we may been raised and break away from what our previous ancestors has taught us but (similar to all other religions, being raised as a Catholic has given me tolerance towards muslims & other religions) I had to take a stand for the truth and be obedient to Gods word rather than mans teaching, for it will be God who some day I’ll need to answer to, I am also accountable to God for how I raise my children! The biggest reason that attracted me to an evangelical Christian church was the Bible teaching on the pulpit Sunday morning and mid week Bible study’s, it was at a time that I was struggling with spiritual issues and needed healing from fear & depression in my life and being raised in a Catholic home my mother would always tell me that there was healing and truth in the Bible but would never read it because the priest would tell us not too because we common folks wouldn’t understand it, they would say “let us explain it to you”! (Lie from the pit of hell) I believe that’s why so many Roman Catholics are lost souls! 2Timothy 3:16-17, Joshua 1:8, Matthew 4:4, there are many more verses, just google ‘reading Gods Word’. My mother would always say that I had hurt her because I left the Catholic Church but eventually (5yrs.) she came to the truth that salvation was in Jesus alone and not being a good Catholic, she would come to my church when she came to visit me & my family which was a big step for her considering she was raised with the teachings that a Roman Catholic should never attend a non Catholic service, although at 80 she never left her church, but always paid close attention to what the priest would say in his sermon and would occasionally question or at times correct him with scripture to back her up! she was free from religious bondage. Why would a priest not speak gospel truth? we have to remember that the leaders are in a greater bondage to religion than we are, they entered the priest hood knowing that they would vow to never marry (totally against the word of God) which is what open the door to be a haven for a man wanting to hide his homosexuality, and other sexual issues that he was dealing with. The Catholic Church only addresses this issue simply because they got caught, and even now their not dealing with the crimes according to the law of the land which God has commend us to do. Yes there has been several evangelical pastors that also got caught with immoral issues but the difference is their not hiding or covering it up, they work on Godly Repentance and forgiveness to the victims and church. (Remember we all for short of the glory of God in one way or another). My wife’s family hasn’t talked to us in over two years when we first left the Catholic Church, but now they come to know some truth through us and if there’s any issues with the family that needs prayer they call my wife first because they feel we are closer to God, the lack of Gospel truth in the Catholic Church saddens me!
Satan will let you do anything, but hates it when you come to the Gospel truth, he knows when your under the salvation of Jesus he can’t have your soul! I know there’s God fearing Born again Christians in the Catholic Church, some of them are close friends, but they also know the full gospel teachings are not there. I Personally feel because the Roman Catholic Church doesn’t stand on the full word of God which leaves room for the evil one to enter in, (which explains why the church is always in controversy) therefore I can’t call the Roman Catholic Church ‘Christian’. At times I’ll often here the media when talking about churches they will use the terms ‘Roman Catholics and Christian churches’ when you look closely at both beliefs the differences are huge!

Michael Seaman if I was to die while in the Roman Catholic Church I would have went to hell because the church or any of my Catholic family knew that salvation was through Jesus Christ alone, we are save only by repentance and his amazing grace alone! Not by jumping through religious hoops that the Catholic Church teaches along with all other religious church’s that don’t know the gospels!
I’ve come to believe that there is ‘Born Again’ Roman Catholic people in the church, (Some of them are friends of mine) the ones that study the Bible for themselves without corrupt interpretations from the priest, but personally I cannot say that the Roman Catholic Church itself is Christian because of what is taught!

No this just pisses me off Benedict should have stay a fought for the holy mother our church. He is the pope, he needed whield the power of the state against this people and publicly remove them. Well , I had this dream where I saw a pope who had red eyes ,like that of an owl ,evil and I ran and climbed up flights of stairs leading to heaven . So it was disturbing for me and I told people about it and they said I should pray for the pope. A few days later , the pope resigned . I wasnt sure who was the " bad pope " , the current or the coming ?. Now I know !

I have to agree. It won't be easy. I don't expect that it will happen quickly, but I do believe the Church has made tremendous progress in recent weeks because it has become clear to us all (lay and clergy) that there is a real problem with a gay subculture among powerful members of the clergy. That has been hinted at for decades (I heard rumors about a high number of practicing homosexuals in the clergy in the 80's and in the 1990's I began to read about the "Lavender Mafia" in conservative Catholic periodicals). Apparently, some of these rumors were true when the scandals first came out in the early 2000's, but nothing was done about predatory homosexual Priests (and Bishops like Mccarrin) preying on young men and teenage males. Is it a result of powerful predatory clergy wanting it to seem that the only problem was abuse of children? I really hope not, but if so, then we really have to play a big role as laity to help renew the Church. At least now, the gay subculture which allowed some men to prey on seminarians and teenage males is in the open and can be addressed. I don't believe this was done because the guilty members of clergy have repented, but the Church as a whole (including laity) are better positioned to do something about it now than we were a few weeks ago. I recommend that the laity take a zero-tolerance attitude towards complacency on the part of the hiearchy, while following the facts and remembering the principle of presuming innocence until proven otherwise. This can't be allowed to become a which hunt either.

Dear Dr. Marshall, It breaks my heart to hear all of this. I left the catholic church over six years ago. I could no longer follow corrupt leadership in the faith. The years of child sexual abuse and brutal treatment I witnessed as a child in my catholic grade school was more than I could take anymore. I realized the church had been infiltrated by corrupt sick people.
I did not give up my faith in Jesus, I became a born again christian and have found a deeper faith in Christ through bible study.
I thank you for staying in the trenches to help combat the corruption but as for me, I could no longer associated with this corruption.

He can not do anything that is not allowed by the Father, but he does have power. Sure, insurance companies approve or disapprove destruction done by Acts of God, but it is more of a filtering down. If God doesn't allow something, it can't happen. If God doesn't disallow something that Satan wishes to do, it can or will. We see this clearly in the events described in the book of Job. At first, God did not allow Satan to wield certain destructive powers over Job, his possessions, or his family. Satan negotiated his way into destroying Job's possessions, killing his children, & eventually attacking Job's physical body. Satan did those awful things to Job due to his unfailing faithfulness to God, while Job's wife & friends all accredited the awful events as punishment by God for unseen sin.
Job was proven to be innocent of Satan's accusations. Due to this, Job was restored to his former prosperity plus more. Shaken, stirred, tamped down, & overflowing.
Even Jesus said that people killed in a building collapse were victims of happenstance, not judgment by God.
Nothing happens that is not allowed, & all things happen for the good of those who love Him & to ultimately bring the greatest fulfillment if His plan, but yes, Satan can have power over lightening.
When people blame God for natural disasters, they are both right & wrong. God has the rain, sun, & wind fall, shine, & blow on both the righteous & unrighteous, but He also allows Satan to temporarily have the reigns to do so as well. That is the very reason that Satan could offer Jesus all of the kingdoms of the world during the third temptation. Satan, indeed, had power over those kingdoms. Satan hoped a tired, hungry, & impatient Christ would succumb to his tactics. Christ will reign, but according to the Father's will & only when the Father says.
Satan is being allowed his time, will become imprisoned, & after a 1,000 years will be allowed to attempt to deceive mankind yet again. Satan will have proven himself irredeemable so many times that their will be no other choice than to dispose of him in the lake of fire & brimstone. Imprisoning will never be enough, but for the meantime, he us the god of this world. And that includes A bolt of lighting unless the Father says, No.

Wow! The rosary is an abomination to God! I left Catholic Church 25 years ago because of the false unbiblical teachings, only God is omnipresent, see’s all and hear’s all, praying to a mere mortal is praying to a false god. Marry was a mortal with free will like you and I that was used by God, if she refused to be impregnated by the Holy Spirit God would have still loved her but would have found another young God fearing Jewish girl who would accept the task, God isn’t a rapist, he never forces himself on us, that wouldn’t be unconditional love. We are to direct our prayers to God (Jesus) himself, as he is a jealous God and will have no other Gods before him. Marry herself would take you by the shoulders and turn you toward Jesus herself, as stated in Romans 3:23, that we are ALL sinners, (all meaning everyone), marry was also a sinner and in need of a saviour herself as state in Luke 1:47. Be aware of any church that use another book which was written by man to teach their beliefs of the Bible other than standing on the true Word of God itself, as the Book of Mormon(latter day saints), the Watch Tower(Jehovah witness), the Catechism (Roman Catholic) their books to interpret the Bible their way (many false teachings). These churches will only use Biblical scripture that won’t contradict their teachings, which is totally against the word of God, it’s no wonder these churches are messed up. I know Catholicism the best because I was raised as a Roman Catholic for 37 years, I also served as an alter boy in my pre high school years, thankfully I wasn’t abused but left the church because I was made aware of the fact that the Catechism did not teach salvation through faith in Jesus alone. The Bible says we are saved by grace and not buy works, (Ephesians 2:8) no rituals, no jumping thru man made hoops, not by the Eucharist or how many times we attend the mass, not by going door to door handing out the Watchtower(Jehovah witness), these are all doing works, (Ephesians 2:8-9) which is what ‘religion’ teaches. Jesus himself spoke against religion as in Matthew 23:1-36, as this speaks of the religious Jewish leaders of the day but you can easily compare it to today’s religious authorities. Being Born Again (John 3:1-21) as a true believer and acceptance of what Christ did for us on that cross is what makes us free from all religious rituals and free in spirit to serve and obey the truth not religion! As a Catholic I was told that I had to confess my sins to a priest regularly then perform the repetitious ritual of the rosary as a penance, hmm, what if there isn’t a priest around? and as most people we wouldn’t change or correct our sinful nature because all we had to do was go back to the priest next week(providing we don’t die first). As a Born Again child of God we are told told to simply pray to your Father in Heaven who know’s all and see’s all and ask for forgiveness and He who is right and just will forgive you! (John 1:9) But what I had learned in the word of God is that the key word is ‘REPENT’ sincere Godly repentance, ‘repel’, turn away from our sin and go the other way. ( acts 3:19). I tried to keep this letter short but there’s so much to say, most of my family is still in the Catholic Church, it’s hard to turn away from how we may been raised and break away from what our previous ancestors has taught us but (similar to all other religions, being raised as a Catholic has given me tolerance towards muslims & other religions) I had to take a stand for the truth and be obedient to Gods word rather than mans teaching, for it will be God who some day I’ll need to answer to, I am also accountable to God for how I raise my children! The biggest reason that attracted me to an evangelical Christian church was the Bible teaching on the pulpit Sunday morning and mid week Bible study’s, it was at a time that I was struggling with spiritual issues and needed healing from fear & depression in my life and being raised in a Catholic home my mother would always tell me that there was healing and truth in the Bible but would never read it because the priest would tell us not too because we common folks wouldn’t understand it, they would say “let us explain it to you”! (Lie from the pit of hell) I believe that’s why so many Roman Catholics are lost souls! 2Timothy 3:16-17, Joshua 1:8, Matthew 4:4, there are many more verses, just google ‘reading Gods Word’. My mother would always say that I had hurt her because I left the Catholic Church but eventually (5yrs.) she came to the truth that salvation was in Jesus alone and not being a good Catholic, she would come to my church when she came to visit me & my family which was a big step for her considering she was raised with the teachings that a Roman Catholic should never attend a non Catholic service, although at 80 she never left her church, but always paid close attention to what the priest would say in his sermon and would occasionally question or at times correct him with scripture to back her up! she was free from religious bondage. Why would a priest not speak gospel truth? we have to remember that the leaders are in a greater bondage to religion than we are, they entered the priest hood knowing that they would vow to never marry (totally against the word of God) which is what open the door to be a haven for a man wanting to hide his homosexuality, and other sexual issues that he was dealing with. The Catholic Church only addresses this issue simply because they got caught, and even now their not dealing with the crimes according to the law of the land which God has commend us to do. Yes there has been several evangelical pastors that also got caught with immoral issues but the difference is their not hiding or covering it up, they work on Godly Repentance and forgiveness to the victims and church. (Remember we all for short of the glory of God in one way or another). My wife’s family hasn’t talked to us in over two years when we first left the Catholic Church, but now they come to know some truth through us and if there’s any issues with the family that needs prayer they call my wife first because they feel we are closer to God, the lack of Gospel truth in the Catholic Church saddens me!
Satan will let you do anything, but hates it when you come to the Gospel truth, he knows when your under the salvation of Jesus he can’t have your soul! I know there’s God fearing Born again Christians in the Catholic Church, some of them are close friends, but they also know the full gospel teachings are not there. I Personally feel because the Roman Catholic Church doesn’t stand on the full word of God which leaves room for the evil one to enter in, (which explains why the church is always in controversy) therefore I can’t call the Roman Catholic Church ‘Christian’. At times I’ll often here the media when talking about churches they will use the terms ‘Roman Catholics and Christian churches’ when you look closely at both beliefs the differences are huge!

When he was a Bishop in Germany those records listed priests and other clergy who were transferred to other parish because of complaints of misconduct by local laity. He turned those files over to the Rome police dept and was told they could do nothing because the Vatican was outside their jurisdiction. He then went to Brussels to the EU court and they took the case, were appointing a prosecuter, and notified the Vatican of the evidence in their possession. It was then that Pope Benedict announced his resignation to avoid a personal public scandal. Those were the news stories.

A few of the reasons the priests should be able to be married. Other denominations allow marriage. Having such a responsibility for being the spiritual leader in their homes put a lot of stress, commitment, n some lonesome times in their lives. I remember reading about the life of a saint who was appointed as a bishop at a certain time and when things got shady he quit his job as a bishop. After this he had a vision with Christ who scolded him for quiting his position as bishop and that saint lived the rest of his life asking for forgiveness for his sin. It seems to me that the same thing is with Pope Benedict. He shouldn't have quit from his position of Pope. Just looking how Catholicism is now I wouldn't want to be Pope Benedict at the final judgement. Because what has become of Catholicism is another example about what happens when the just ones take a step back.

Wow! The rosary is an abomination to God! I left Catholic Church 25 years ago because of the false unbiblical teachings, only God is omnipresent, see’s all and hear’s all, praying to a mere mortal is praying to a false god. Marry was a mortal with free will like you and I that was used by God, if she refused to be impregnated by the Holy Spirit God would have still loved her but would have found another young God fearing Jewish girl who would accept the task, God isn’t a rapist, he never forces himself on us, that wouldn’t be unconditional love. We are to direct our prayers to God (Jesus) himself, as he is a jealous God and will have no other Gods before him. Marry herself would take you by the shoulders and turn you toward Jesus herself, as stated in Romans 3:23, that we are ALL sinners, (all meaning everyone), marry was also a sinner and in need of a saviour herself as state in Luke 1:47. Be aware of any church that use another book which was written by man to teach their beliefs of the Bible other than standing on the true Word of God itself, as the Book of Mormon(latter day saints), the Watch Tower(Jehovah witness), the Catechism (Roman Catholic) their books to interpret the Bible their way (many false teachings). These churches will only use Biblical scripture that won’t contradict their teachings, which is totally against the word of God, it’s no wonder these churches are messed up. I know Catholicism the best because I was raised as a Roman Catholic for 37 years, I also served as an alter boy in my pre high school years, thankfully I wasn’t abused but left the church because I was made aware of the fact that the Catechism did not teach salvation through faith in Jesus alone. The Bible says we are saved by grace and not buy works, (Ephesians 2:8) no rituals, no jumping thru man made hoops, not by the Eucharist or how many times we attend the mass, not by going door to door handing out the Watchtower(Jehovah witness), these are all doing works, (Ephesians 2:8-9) which is what ‘religion’ teaches. Jesus himself spoke against religion as in Matthew 23:1-36, as this speaks of the religious Jewish leaders of the day but you can easily compare it to today’s religious authorities. Being Born Again (John 3:1-21) as a true believer and acceptance of what Christ did for us on that cross is what makes us free from all religious rituals and free in spirit to serve and obey the truth not religion! As a Catholic I was told that I had to confess my sins to a priest regularly then perform the repetitious ritual of the rosary as a penance, hmm, what if there isn’t a priest around? and as most people we wouldn’t change or correct our sinful nature because all we had to do was go back to the priest next week(providing we don’t die first). As a Born Again child of God we are told told to simply pray to your Father in Heaven who know’s all and see’s all and ask for forgiveness and He who is right and just will forgive you! (John 1:9) But what I had learned in the word of God is that the key word is ‘REPENT’ sincere Godly repentance, ‘repel’, turn away from our sin and go the other way. ( acts 3:19). I tried to keep this letter short but there’s so much to say, most of my family is still in the Catholic Church, it’s hard to turn away from how we may been raised and break away from what our previous ancestors has taught us but (similar to all other religions, being raised as a Catholic has given me tolerance towards muslims & other religions) I had to take a stand for the truth and be obedient to Gods word rather than mans teaching, for it will be God who some day I’ll need to answer to, I am also accountable to God for how I raise my children! The biggest reason that attracted me to an evangelical Christian church was the Bible teaching on the pulpit Sunday morning and mid week Bible study’s, it was at a time that I was struggling with spiritual issues and needed healing from fear & depression in my life and being raised in a Catholic home my mother would always tell me that there was healing and truth in the Bible but would never read it because the priest would tell us not too because we common folks wouldn’t understand it, they would say “let us explain it to you”! (Lie from the pit of hell) I believe that’s why so many Roman Catholics are lost souls! 2Timothy 3:16-17, Joshua 1:8, Matthew 4:4, there are many more verses, just google ‘reading Gods Word’. My mother would always say that I had hurt her because I left the Catholic Church but eventually (5yrs.) she came to the truth that salvation was in Jesus alone and not being a good Catholic, she would come to my church when she came to visit me & my family which was a big step for her considering she was raised with the teachings that a Roman Catholic should never attend a non Catholic service, although at 80 she never left her church, but always paid close attention to what the priest would say in his sermon and would occasionally question or at times correct him with scripture to back her up! she was free from religious bondage. Why would a priest not speak gospel truth? we have to remember that the leaders are in a greater bondage to religion than we are, they entered the priest hood knowing that they would vow to never marry (totally against the word of God) which is what open the door to be a haven for a man wanting to hide his homosexuality, and other sexual issues that he was dealing with. The Catholic Church only addresses this issue simply because they got caught, and even now their not dealing with the crimes according to the law of the land which God has commend us to do. Yes there has been several evangelical pastors that also got caught with immoral issues but the difference is their not hiding or covering it up, they work on Godly Repentance and forgiveness to the victims and church. (Remember we all for short of the glory of God in one way or another). My wife’s family hasn’t talked to us in over two years when we first left the Catholic Church, but now they come to know some truth through us and if there’s any issues with the family that needs prayer they call my wife first because they feel we are closer to God, the lack of Gospel truth in the Catholic Church saddens me!
Satan will let you do anything, but hates it when you come to the Gospel truth, he knows when your under the salvation of Jesus he can’t have your soul! I know there’s God fearing Born again Christians in the Catholic Church, some of them are close friends, but they also know the full gospel teachings are not there. I Personally feel because the Roman Catholic Church doesn’t stand on the full word of God which leaves room for the evil one to enter in, (which explains why the church is always in controversy) therefore I can’t call the Roman Catholic Church ‘Christian’. At times I’ll often here the media when talking about churches they will use the terms ‘Roman Catholics and Christian churches’ when you look closely at both beliefs the differences are huge!

Richard Coleman I left the Catholic Church too but I wanted to learn Latin so i went back for a few months. The Catholic Church is the best place I can think of if you wanna learn Latin for free. I felt like I wasn’t even trying super hard but learned a lot. I just didn’t get in line for the Eucharist, donate money or kneel down at all. it weren’t for coronavirus I’d go brush up on it by going to the full Latin mass.

He simply had to have known that his resignation would effectively hand control of the church to the forces of evil he sought to eliminate. Whatever he saw in that report must have been so explosive that he feared it would completely destroy the church if it ever saw the light of day. Seems as if his choice was between tearing down the whole church himself, or give it over to those who wish to destroy her over time. Pray for us all.

Pagan idol worship in the Vatican, his silence on the abortion issue, and pushing Archbishop Vigano out of the Curia are just a few examples of his values. Whether he is an active participant in all the corrupt and immoral practices going on within the Vatican walls remains to be seen. My own suspicion is that he has surrounded himself with evil men because they share his policy goals; and has largely looked the other way at their evil activities until forced into action. Similarly, there’s no question that Benedict was forced out. Again, the question of Francis’ involvement is unknown. But, I suspect that he knew, in broad terms at least, what was going on and chose to do nothing.
