So I’m a geophysicist (rock guy) and amateur student of ancient cultures. I was taught by the missionaries and on day 1 learned of seer stones and completely understood. Anyone who doesn’t know of seer stones and other divine artifacts isn’t paying attention and hasn’t studied the Bible. Should we get upset by Jared’s use of glowing stones touched by the Lord, or by Moses’ use of the Urim and Thummim, or by the Israelites using the Ark of the Covenant to shoot lightning at enemies, or Lehi’s use of the Liahona? No, they’re just cool.
Exactly, people that can't understand the power of God working through a stone or other instrument are watching this on a piece of glass and plastic. Lol 🤣😆🤣
My testimony is not based on the process Joseph used to translate the plates. My testimony came through faith and prayer studying the. Book of Mormon and personal revelation I have received. And as I continue to study my mind is opened to more truth and greater miracles. I thank God for teaching me everything. I as l Him to tell me and seek to understand.
Right! But seer stones are a subtle part of our doctrine and available to those righteous MPH. In fact, JFS said MPH are entitled to seership but are kept from it for lack of righteous, purity, faithfulness, and ability to really have power in the PH!
2 of my brothers aren’t active because they can’t wrap their minds around needing to pay tithing. I can’t count the number of blessings I receive from paying mine. Whenever we are struggling a month to pay all our bills my husband is always given more games to umpire or referee we never have gone without
That’s because few of Earth’s population pay it. Eventually, the majority will pay it, and there will never again be an unanswered righteous need or effort earthwide.
I disagree. I can get a refund if I don't like the product. This is not the same. Tithing is for the Lord's work and there must be accountability. Isn't that why we have to have an interview to get our temple recommend? Accountability is all over the place except for where our tithing and other contributions go. That is my opinion.
@@crazymakerpleasestopThere is accountability. Besides the yearly audit reports, the church leaders are directly accountable to the Lord. This is His church and the church's handling of the Lord's money is btwn Him and them. Who is man to think he or she has a right to dictate what happens with those funds?
@@crazymakerpleasestop Except the Church explicitly states on the tithing slip “All donations to the Church are free-will offerings and become the Church’s property. In furtherance of its overall mission, the Church may shift donations from any designated use to other uses, at its sole discretion.” This is not a secret. Further, on the official charitable contributions tax summary statement, it says “The Church provided no goods or services in consideration, in whole or in part, for the contributions detailed below but only intangible religious benefits.” Any “accountability” you wish to impose logically would need to be in accordance with what the Church has already told you is the approach with these funds. You can’t appropriately claim injury for something that doesn’t violate these conditions. The case is clearly without legal merit, but I suspect the primary purpose is to tarnish.
@@crazymakerpleasestop you don't think they are accountable for how they use tithing? Just try doing business with them. The first thought they have before spending a cent is about if the Lord would approve of the expense. And they only use tithing for what it is meant for, building the kingdom of Christ. People tend to ignore that there are other avenues of revenue and donations. The for profit businesses that pay for other expenses and fast offerings for feeding the needy. Listen to the first conference session on Saturday and you'll hear about the audit that separate accounting firm does on the church and their findings, in general.
Thank you for your videos. The Deseret News recently reported details of a court hearing held a week ago before a panel of judges in the 9th Corcuit Court of Appeals in San Francisco. Interestingly, one of the judges suggested that the Church’s attorneys should not have addressed the misrepresentation allegations first. Instead, this judge said that the whole case against the Church would have been dismissed earlier, if legal counsel for the Church had simply argued their rights under the “church autonomy doctrine,” which protects churches in the United States from government control in accordance with the First Amendment.
When I was taking the discussions with the Missionaries when I was 16. (I looked into the church because I was an Osmond fan.) An older lady full of wisdom sat in with me in the discussions. She told me one day, (I think it was when I chose to be baptized) She said, always remember, the church is true, even if the people aren't. I have never forgotten and that advice helped me a few times. It IS. (PS I love your Star Trek analogy 😄)
I felt the holy Ghost today testifying of certain things to me that came from a post about all the work that the church is doing around the world with the money.
"Paying tithing is not a token gift we are somehow charitably bestowing upon God. Paying tithing is discharging a debt." Like a Watered Garden / G.C. 10/2001 / by Elder Jeffrey R. Holland, Of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles -
9:15 yes this, exactly! Tithing is about a lot of things, but primarily it’s about sacrifice. Thank you for organizing and sharing this thought process. Stellar job.
I love this, Jared! ❤ I feel the same way! I pay tithing as a sign between me and God. If on the other end anyone is using church funds in any way that is offensive to God, that is between them and God. My heart is warmed when I see all of the good the church uses its funds to accomplish, but that is not why I tithe. This is just another avenue of trying to persecute the church and its members.
It’s sad that in all religions, you know they know about what it says in Malachi. I’m a comfort. And I remember breaking. Young said that in the last days that we would not fear the calamities, but our greatest pain would be to watch those around us fall. And it does pay me to know that, they are so close to his coming and they betray him. Eder just seemed and tricked by Lucifer to be pulled away. Gospel changed my life and I just cannot imagine living in these last days not having the fullness of the gospel. I was watching for the six trumpet to sound and I am wondering with these ports closing and also the truck drivers striking is this the collapse that we’re going to see when all kingdom shall fall? Those laws to sacrifice and to remember that everything we have the Lord has given us and he’s only asking for 10% back. I think that Law applies in any church that you would attend and the blessings would follow matter where you are because it is important to obey that law. And it’s sad that they want to rob God. We need to pray for them. They are our brothers and sisters.
I sure loved all the comments. Thank you to all who commented. Right now we are upon the great separation. No middle ground. You will choose light or darkness. No more time to sit on the fence. This isn’t a new thing. It’s prophesied. It’s also at the end. We are surely awaiting our Saviors arrival. Thanks Jared!
I have often thought the same thing. I have to block the sun to see my phone screen, it makes sense that Joseph would block the sun to make it easier to read the translation on the seer stone. I’m glad you had the same thoughts.
I heard about the stone in the hat way back in the 60’s. All about Joseph Smith and polygamy. I was a teenager then. Didn’t matter to me then doesn’t matter now. People need to pray about the church and get their own confirmation that it’s true from the Lord.
I think it's interesting that people can't wrap their heads around God speaking through a rock or other instrument, but they're watching this on a piece of glass and plastic.
I feel pretty confident in saying this, but I think that a Urim and Thummim is a type of object, or more accurately a group or class of objects - not necessarily a specific object. I base this on D&C 130:8-11. In the case of the Book of Mormon, the Urim and Thummim was the spectacles. In section 130, it says that the earth will become a great Urim and Thummim, whereby we shall know concerning kingdoms of a lower order. And the white stone that will be given, with a new name written, will be a Urim and Thummim, by which we shall know concerning kingdoms of a higher order.
The Church is exponentially growing while the chaff is blowing away. I've got many family members who have left under the most foolish reasons and there's no talking to them. Stick to the doctrine and stop falling for doubt and resentment.
"And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it." Matthew 16:18 "Wherefore, if you shall build up my church, upon the foundation of my gospel and my rock, the gates of hell shall not prevail against you." Doctrine & Covenants 18:5 If the Lord has promised us that even the gates of hell cannot destroy His Church, that's good enough for me.
So when the brother of Jared asked the Lord to touch the stones to provide light, was that fake because the Lord could have said let there be light. But he told the brother of Jared when he brought it up about not having light in the vessel to figure it out and come back to him. So I am okay with Joseph using a stone and even the top hat, it needed to be very dark for him to see the writing, very genius of him.
When people are skint some will try anything to get money. So they think they wasted money? No they got the blessings at the time they paid in. It's like spending £1,000 on a holiday and wanting your money back because where you chose was too hot.
The church is a part of the gospel, not the other way around. If your testimony is of a living Jesus Christ and His gospel this would not be an issue. I believe that prophecies do say that there will be persecution of the church in the last days, and that this will come from within. This is the true gospel and Christ's church. #HearHim
As usual, catching this a day late. Another good one, Jared. I'm with you. Why does it even matter? My testimony of Jesus Christ will not be rocked by a rock!
If everyone would remember it’s the Lords money and he only asks for 10% back, what does it matter. It’s not our money but the Lords, and the same goes for if you are paying to much tithing, what does it matter, you will be blessed, either now or later, but if your paying your tithing grudgingly, you may not receive the blessing you are looking for.
Here is what matters: Is the Book of Mormon true? Did Joseph Smith see God the Father and Jesus Christ ? Is Russell M. Nelson a living prophet? Is the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day-Saints the restored church on the face of the earth today ? If the answers to these questions are “yes” , NONE of these other things matter
Exactly. We are taught the Bible and seer stones and other sacred artifacts are in the Bible. Not knowing that means they are just not paying attention.
I was once asked about what I learned in church by a kid from another denomination. I told him about Joseph in Egypt. He looked at me funny and said, "You Mormons are weird."
Sorry he did use the seer stone . The church had it . There are pictures of it in the ensigns . Where have you been. Those are called lights and truth . So bright he used a soecial hat of animal skin . Supposedly from the same as Adams coat of Skins . Takes some more deep searching of history . History is wonderful . Should grow your testimony even more . I love chitchat history .
@@lindamartinez7006 I know all about that. I used to think he did too, and I know it is a popular theory among the BYU professors. They are usually over concerned with inoculation over revelation. That’s fine. I have looked into the history, all the accounts of it were from people who left the church including Emma who in the same interview said Joseph never practiced plural marriage. I think it is obvious that he had one. I don’t think anyone argues that. But the scriptures tell us that they were instruments passed down for thousands of years specifically to arrive at Joseph for the translation of the Book of Mormon. Everything else is built on testimony of people who left the church. The apologists of the church always give value to opposition arguments because they always try to land on the side of accounting for an answer rather than rejecting arguments. It is a very tempting way to live your life as an intellectual being it gives you an air of sophistication to point out things that make your own side look bad. Look into the prophecy :Mosiah 8:13-19, Alma 37:23-25, Ether 3:27-28, Ether 4:5-7, jsh1:75, dc 10:1-3, dc:17:1-3,. Combine those with the interview of Joseph Smith Senior on the Lehites discovering the urim and thumim. It shows it was passed down from the Jaredites to Joseph, it was for the purpose of translating. The witnesses saw it. Then the apologists want us to think that he abandoned something that was preserved for 4000 years to come to him for that specific purpose so that he could be more comfortable. We base it on the testimony of apostates and think it needs to be taught that way so that people don’t lose their faith when they here for the first time (inoculation) as Dan Peterson called it. I just choose to believe the scriptures over the professors. I also realize that most manuals, exhibits, articles are written by committees and professors. I stick with words said by people who hold keys. All that being said, I actually don’t care if anyone believes the stone in a hat thing. It doesn’t bother me at all. I am just saying why I think the way I do to show it isn’t from ignorance. At the end ifbthe day, there are as many versions of “mormonism” as there are members. The same is true of any study whether science, history, theology, or art. That goes to the point of the video. There is no wholly unified doctrine or history. How many different ways do we understand the mechanism of the atonement? And that actually is a central teaching. The point is that no two members of a religion agree 100%. That simple fact negates the principle argument of the people trying to sue the church
A note about what stone Joseph smith used ,, I have great experience in this as it was a part of my carrear to know for my customers, and it doesn't matter what stone Joseph Smith used , they both do basically the same thing , one just does it better , they also dont give you any gifts you dont already have , they just make them a little easier to use and the term seer stone is actually a misconception in terms , and most stones like this do basically nothing but look pretty. Joseph aparently remarked that the white stone that he had later was his stone .
The church doesn't make someone pay tithing. It is your choice to pay or not. I find it strange that people expect everything to be told to them. Or even worse they expect the leadership not to make mistakes or have flaws. Nobody except Christ is perfect. We all say and do things that are wrong. It is called agency and the leadership has it just like everyone else. The church leadership isnt here to teach you about the imperfect people, but they are to teach the doctrine of Christ. It is our responsibility to gain a testimony of the doctrine regardless of the imperfections of leadership or members. The history of the church just tells me that we are a church of flawed humans that desire to know God. It also makes me feel like I have something in common with the early Saints. I have a testimony of the gospel even though I am flawed and make mistakes. The information (HISTORY) is available if you want to know about the imperfectness of people. In my opinion it is much more important to study the dortrine and come to know Christ. My faith isn't in whether or not Joseph used a brown or clear stone. My faith doesn't rest on pural marriage, location of the Book of Mormon, the priesthood ban, or any othe topic. My faith rest in Christ and his Atonement. CASE CLOSED!
The Church also tells the members to gain their own education. It is up to us to get educated, it is not up to the Church. The Church is to guide people to make and keep covenants, repent and prepare the way for the second coming. Agency is huge. Being a victim is a lack of agency, responsibility and could even be considered Anti-Christ (just thought of that).
This comment needs to be bumped up. Church president and a former US president turn 100 in same year, less than a month apart, with a devastating hurricane in between. It will be interesting now to see who outlives who.
The difference between the Star Trek analogy and the church is that Star Trek content has been fully accessible from the beginning of its debut. The church has not made it easy and has discouraged investigation into these kinds of topics and have artifacts such as the seer stones without our knowing until 2015. The church itself has said to not be critical of church leaders so just by that example it’s difficult to even look into these subjects when we’re being told not to for such a long time before now especially
I recommend looking into presentations made available on RUclips by Latter-day Saints' Q&A channel, the Saints Unscripted channel, and I am sure FAIR has something on it as well. I think they help with context and history. The fact is that much may be recorded on a subject, but maybe it's not clear how to reconcile the data, maybe it's not easy to find, etc., and maybe, like in this case, it's just not essential, so time and money and effort have been spent answering and communicating answers to more central questions. I don't mean to be dismissive, so please forgive me if that's how I seem, but I don't see how one could say that it was the Church's responsibility to teach the ins and outs of this topic. It doesn't fall into the essential details, and if people wanted to, there were ways to become more informed about the translation. But remember also that our capability of making data available generally has increased a great deal in just the past few decades. So that now much more can be compiled and shared much more easily, and we can have projects like The Joseph Smith Papers and the Saints book series.
@@kennethmoake1448 I appreciate your sincere response, I would just have to politely disagree with my experience within the church and from looking into that content. I know that no matter how much we may type at each other our views will be very difficult to change, but again I appreciate you respectfully conversing.
The thing about tithing is that it’s an act of faith and devotion to God. The church is just an intermediary. They could spend it all on baseball cards for all I care. It wouldn’t diminish my sacrifice or relationship to God. He knows why I gave it. As far as the church making a profit or anything like that, I hope they do. That makes them a good steward of the Lord’s money. The kingdom of God on earth should be the most wealthy entity to ever exist. Kind of difficult to provide anything to anybody if you’re broke.
You blocked out the sun? Oh my goodness Jared "I just so can't right now with you" where do I get my refund for my watch time over the last 2 and a half years 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 Thanks Jared and for the shout outs yesterday. I hope you are doing alright. You seemed kind of exhausted at the end of the live stream yesterday. I think we are all getting a bit spiritually exhausted waiting right now at times with spurts of excitement and energy
Here is a fun project, when they paid tithing they used it as a tax deduction. The IRS should be notified, they will need to pay it back plus interest. Muhahahahaa
The funny part is the Seer Stones are in the Bible... Noah had stones in the Ark, Jonah had glowing stones, the Urim and Thummim were used by the Israelite high priest, etc. This isnt event a new idea 😂
Tithing isn’t just an LDS church thing. Most churches have a tithe of sorts. When one puts money into a donation plate, they don’t expect to get it back, ever, do they? It’s the same with any kind of donation. If we pay tithing with the intention of getting it back, that’s just the wrong reason for paying it. It’s so ridiculous that these people actually think they should be getting any kind of donation they’ve given in the past back. They must have more money than sense.
How many times have you tried to comment on something in you tube and the app shuts down and you lose the words and can’t remember them? Luckily I copied this just before I was about to post which is when the app decided to do some sort of install thing… Here’s the comment 🙃😂🙂 Prophets will know when it is expedient for them to know… they walk by faith as well. God has all things working together for good, it’s too complicated for us to understand well enough to be in the know of everything but not too complicated for Him. We get just as much truth and understanding as we can presently handle. Thus the wisdom in His words to… trust in the Lord and lean not to thine own understanding. Seek to learn of Him listen to his words and walk in the meekness of His spirit and you shall find the peace that passes all understanding 💛
Jared. Remember that the urium and thummim are 2 stones within a bow. Apparently they are white, illuminated stones. Kinda like the stones we will receive which will help us understand other kingdoms. Also, kinda like the stones that illuminated the boats of the jaredites. Maybe similar to light sources used in ships of the family of Lehi. Maybe like stones that illuminated the ark of Noah. Just saying. I like many of the comments. If you are looking for a fault, looking for anything that may be a small needle in a haystack? You’ll find something, that I know. God bless us with His Son soon. We are living at the last moments of this earth. This society. God speed and thank you! Christ surely Leads this church. That I also know. I love Him!
There’s nothing strange about a sea stone if they’re complaining that he use the sea stone without the breast plate it matter if not because a sea stone, no matter where you’re using it you’re still looking through the Seastone so what he didn’t use the breast plate if you use the hat, so what That’s just the way it happened you can’t question someone’s ability to do their craft their talent. I mean, I’ve seen people that use their toes to paint with so if you want to be shocked, that’s not right you’re not using your fingers. It doesn’t matter how he use the ear scones he used them
Although i agree that the personal sacrifice is important for tithing, I do think the members need to be diligent in making sure the tithing funds are being used appropriately, such as spreading the gospel with missionary work, printing materials, meeting houses and building temples, and NOT being used for making any one individual wealthy. (not counting the president and other elders taking a simple pay to make church services full-time work. and as long as that pay is transparent, showing they aren't becoming millionaires, its not an issue)
Matthew 23 23 Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye pay tithe of mint and anise and cummin, and have omitted the weightier matters of the law, judgment, mercy, and faith: these ought ye to have done, and not to leave the other undone. 24 Ye blind guides, which strain at a gnat, and swallow a camel. -----> Both gnats and camels were forbidden as food under the law of Moses. In order to prevent swallowing a gnat by accident, some Pharisees would strain all liquids before drinking them. Jesus used the exaggeration of swallowing a camel to say that the Pharisees were very careful about some little things while bigger and more important things were ignored (such as mercy, faith, and the spirit of the law).
Whether Joseph used a seer stone or the Urim and Thummim is not important. What is vital is that you get a witness from the Holy Spirit that the Book of Mormon is true and is from God. That is all you need to know. From there if you so desire the Spirit can confirm that Joseph was/is a prophet and the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is also from God. The Spirit of Contention is not of God. If you find yourself nitpicking, then you need to examine your conscience because you are not listening to the Holy Spirit but the adversary.
Funny....Forgot all about the Ferengi.... Next you'll mention Jar Jar Binks.?. I want all MY money back from lotteries I didn't win, I want back alll the money I spent on Corn dogs cause I hear they are not healthy, I was tricked by my Bishop to come to church so I want the church to give me back all those Sundays I spent worshipping instead of doing my laundry. I want my brain storage space back cause I can't get all those primary songs, hymns, and Scripture out of my head.
Great video and I agree 100%. Satan is always trying to cause a division among God's people, lets not engage him. I always stick to Prophet and Apostles and scriptures. This is a Trial of our Faith. I dont engage anymore in those arguments, it drives the spirit from your heart.
Part of what happened is the church created a correlation committee because each auxiliary was in charge of producing their own manuals and teaching guides. They all differed a bit in how things were described. So church history became more standardized. I grew up being told Joseph Smith used the Urim and Thummin found with the golden plates. As I got older how things were told have changed. I’ve seen many changes in the church. So now they are saying a seer stone and a hat were used. All I know is the type setter at EB Grandin was interviewed decades later. He said Hyrum Smith came in with a manuscript and wanted it printed into some books. The manuscript was just words. No paragraphs and no punctuation. The typesetter said he couldn’t print a book like the manuscript. It needed to be punctuated and organized better. Hyrum said that his brother Joseph would have to approve what was done. Joseph came in later and agreed with the typesetter and the typesetter punctuated the book. I don’t think anyone but Joseph himself knew exactly the process he used. All I know is the manuscript was words written down and nothing else. I’m sure the story we hear 50 years from now will be a bit different than it is now.

It all comes down to ONE thing. Is Joseph Smith a true prophet or not? If you can say Yes, then ALL the rest is a moot point! How, what, when, why, where ... our faith in Jesus Christ negates us needing to know any of that. Faith: "The substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen" God owes you NO explanation. Jesus paid a huge price for you. Be grateful and faithful, and trust they, Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ, know what they're doing! EVERYTHING will be explained one day. We'll understand it all. Don't be in a hurry, or you'll miss out on all the incredible things He's showing you NOW! ❤❤❤❤❤
Not sure I could go full in comparing my religious faith with being a fan of a media following. It did make me think, though, I do feel tricked by a media outlet - a very large company that I felt was aligned with my view of family friendly entertainment, wholesome family recreation, and even supported the idea of Constitutional freedom. I really don't want to purchases any more material from this company anymore, and I don't want to be a consumer of most of anything that is offered now. Probably getting old, but in reflection, a lot of the media and toys and entertainment and recreation I thought were good for my family as I was raising my children is actually offensive now as it has evolved. I feel duped that I tried to be careful about what I used in my home and shared with my family just to have it become something so different. However, I'm not asking for a refund for all that I already put into it. So that is where I don't get the way some feel they should be refunded for what they chose to use their money for in the past.
There are differences in the lawsuits. Huntsman is saying he wouldn't have tithed if he knew tithing dollars were going to bail out Beneficial Life and build City Creek Mall. His case stands on quotes from Hinkley and others says "no tithing was spent on these things". Gaddy case is about the Church not being honest about history. Trying to stay out of the realm of faith and purely secular. Wouldn't have tithed if the Church was honest about it's history. What was brought up was translation method. Doesn't matter what kind of stone, just that the Church lied about the brown stone, it's origins and what else it was used for (ie. treasure digging). Third case has to do with SEC stuff, I think. Leaders fully being aware of what they were doing and people wanting their tithing back because money was used inappropriately.
This reminds me of this present couple that think they can get their tithing returned to them. Long ago when the world was cooling, a new couple showed up in my ward. Not long after, I couldn’t see them in the meetings. Then I found out that they absconded with all our tithing money after the husband had been appointed the one that took care of tithing when it came in. I shuddered to think about their spiritual consequences.
Someone share thoughts on why large sums of money would be needed right after the earth is cleansed? So many people are sent to the spirit world at that point that the entire financial system that we are used to (where value is largely based on supply and demand, and inflation is very much a thing) is prophesied to be changed forever, basically, destroyed as we have been experiencing it. The scriptures actually say that those who remain take (not buy) the spoils of the earth and use them to build the Kingdom. As someone who was forced to sell our home of 17 years, and move far from family and friends because of someone else’s lies and greed, this change of system gets my attention in a very pointed way. (No worries that the person who made this misfortune happen to my family will ever see this channel either. He doesn’t believe the Second Coming is in his lifetime. And he rarely doubts his opinions.)
Maybe the funds are for now, before the second coming, to build all the temples that are being built and allow all the opportunity to partake of sacred covenants with the Lord before He comes.
Sorry to hear this happened to you! I’ve gone through something similar. I share your questions about the second coming. We know a dramatic loss of population will happen but there will still be many with different beliefs, religious, economic etc. We know the current economic system based on serving self interest (aka greed) will no longer exist at least for some, being replaced by a higher minded, more terrestrial system in which our labors are dedicated to bettering others, not ourselves. I would add to your question, will it happen instantly, or over a period of time? What kind of organized process of redistribution of wealth will be in place during that transition? So many thoughts come from your question!
Because the prophets know way more than we do. Either you can trust them or you can't. I trust they know EXACTLY what we need. I am humble enough to admit we don't know everything and that's actually how God constructed everything so we need faith beyond sight. If God wanted us to know the future without confusion He would reveal it. But we don't. We have to walk by faith and trust there are reasons beyond our expectations.
I believe in prophets. My whole life has been built around the words of prophets. The prophets are also the ones writing the scriptures describing the great demise of the current system. Isaiah…a prophet particularly emphasized by Christ as one whose words would come to pass, as an example. Isaiah:13 6 Howl ye; for the day of the Lord is at hand; it shall come as a destruction from the Almighty 9 Behold, the day of the Lord cometh, cruel both with wrath and fierce anger, to lay the land desolate: and he shall destroy the sinners thereof out of it. Matthew 13:49 So shall it be at the end of the world: the angels shall come forth, and sever the wicked from among the just I believe it. Having been many years in finance (but even if I hadn’t) it is easy to see the effect that an entire separation of the righteous from the wicked would have on the economy. The children of the righteous (the poor and the meek, who have their hearts set on Christ and His Kingdom) will inherit the earth. Nowhere does it say they will buy it. We know money will still be used. I guess that must be why the Church is setting some aside. And I have very little opinion on what they do with it. Because I can’t wrestle my stare away from the prophesies of far bigger things.
Brace soil… not practicing soil health, plant covered field, with hot wire for livestock grazing… practicing soil health. Good job! Oh and your commentary was spot on, didn’t understand the Star Trek analogy though. Drive safe!

The one that gets me is a descendant of a very rich member of the church was one suing. There is no way he personally paid the amount he is suing for in tithing! Maybe if he includes the amount his father or grandpa paid. It would be like if I donated to a medical charity like the Hintsman Cancer institute and then get cancer so I want my $$ back.
Jesus instructs us to judge our leadership by what they say and do. If our leaders started burning the sacred funds then I would have many questions for our church leaders and would expect answers. I get your point but maybe avoid going so hard on the otherwise. We aren't a cult. We can ask questions and expect accountability.
Tithing does not go to charity. It pays for temples, churches, and upkeep of these buildings all over the world. It also helps missionaries and text books.
It will be an attack on anyone who is a Christain, but the members of the church will not be spared, the Lord said that all must be tested, who's side will we be standing on?
Loved the Star Trek analogy. I have to admit that the Ferangi were a little much for me. Truth is that tithing is not coercive, so I don’t imagine that they will win. People are ridiculous. This is another sign of the approaching Second Coming…that Christ’s people will be persecuted in the last days. We need to get are hearts on the covenant path and stay there. Think Celestial!!!
I wonder how many of these people who have the argument of not knowing about seer stones before hand; are now currently seeking faith from “ new age ”. And do they have the same views about that too. Because they tend to start dabbling in the with “ healing crystals ” when they leave the church. I wish they would just be honest and state that they want to live of the world.
I spent 3 years studying the concept of "the seer stone". Yes it is part of Church history but after digging deep into that history it suggests the original 1830's origins of this theory just didn't fit. Especially since JS and OC both contradict the "stone in hat" narrative. Note also D&C 17 doesn't say a thing about a "stone".
I have a strong testimoy of the Gospel and the Book of Mormon based on a strong witness by the Spirit of the Holy Ghost. I also believe in personal revelation as I feel we may know the truth of ALL things. I believe stongly that Joseph Smith did not use a stone in a hat to translate. It is not found in any scripture and the Church does not have a position on it. Read the following scriptures and it always says the plates were translated with two stones in a silver bow fastened to a breastplate. JSH 1:35,52,62,75*; Mosiah 28:13, 20; Ether 3:22- 23; 4:5; Alma 37:21, 24-25 The same is true with age of the earth, BofM geography, Dinosaurs and other non doctrinal ideas that we all may know truth with personal revelation.
Did they not read the Book of Mormon? In it it specifically says there are stones. If they didn’t read it, then shame on them for donating to a church that they knew nothing about.
If you're looking to stay, nothing will pull you from your faith. If you're looking to leave, any excuse will do.

So true

Love this comment!
Exactly. There's no way anybody sincerely reads the Book of Mormon without realizing that it is divine.
Oh, it’s a honor to pay tithing. The blessings far outweigh the money.
2 of my brothers aren’t active because they can’t wrap their minds around needing to pay tithing. I can’t count the number of blessings I receive from paying mine. Whenever we are struggling a month to pay all our bills my husband is always given more games to umpire or referee we never have gone without
I also have a testimony of paying a full tithe. I have been blessed and we have enough.
That’s because few of Earth’s population pay it. Eventually, the majority will pay it, and there will never again be an unanswered righteous need or effort earthwide.
You don't have to pay tithing to be active. 😮
@@NM-ld1dx no you don’t. For temple recommends yes
I am always finding something new that I didn't know about the church before and it doesn't bother me a bit.
If you pay for something, that money is no longer yours and what is done with the money is irrelevant.
By the way I liked your analogy with Star Trek.
@@crazymakerpleasestopin your opinion, is the church misusing your tithing?
@@crazymakerpleasestop Except the Church explicitly states on the tithing slip “All donations to the Church are free-will offerings and become the Church’s property. In furtherance of its overall mission, the Church may shift donations from any designated use to other uses, at its sole discretion.” This is not a secret.
Further, on the official charitable contributions tax summary statement, it says “The Church provided no goods or services in consideration, in whole or in part, for the contributions detailed below but only intangible religious benefits.”
Any “accountability” you wish to impose logically would need to be in accordance with what the Church has already told you is the approach with these funds.
I also found the church at age 15 due to the Osmonds..
@@lemjwp1756 hello friend, always nice to meet a fellow convert member with that in common.

Holland, Of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles -
That’s a very distorted idea.
not if you really think the logic thru. To think you are being generous to God when you tithe is the twisted idea.
9:15 yes this, exactly! Tithing is about a lot of things, but primarily it’s about sacrifice.
Thank you for organizing and sharing this thought process. Stellar job.
What matters is the Book of Mormon was translated through the gift and power of God.

They can't wrap their minds around a rock or instrument to translate, but we're watching this video on a piece of glass and plastic. 😂
Exactly, and there's no use talking to them either. They just get resentful. I just show love

Truly a sign of the times
"And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it." Matthew 16:18
"Wherefore, if you shall build up my church, upon the foundation of my gospel and my rock, the gates of hell shall not prevail against you." Doctrine & Covenants 18:5
If the Lord has promised us that even the gates of hell cannot destroy His Church, that's good enough for me.
But if they begrudge the gift... then they lose the blessings AND forfeit the money. It will go to who Lord deems a good steward.
Church Handbook 34.3.7 Contributions Cannot Be Refunded - it's there... black and white...
I shared another copy of the Book of Mormon. #FLOOD
Awesome!❤❤❤
It is so cool that Joseph could see the word of God on the stone.
I have always been financially okay ever since I started paying tithing before that I was in trouble all the time financialy !!!!
You are so amazing! Thank you for who you are and the way you present stuff!!! ❤

Here is what matters:
Is the Book of Mormon true? Did Joseph Smith see God the Father and Jesus Christ ? Is Russell M. Nelson a living prophet? Is the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day-Saints the restored church on the face of the earth today ?
If the answers to these questions are “yes” , NONE of these other things matter
Did you know that the Urim and Thummim are Seer stones!
The fact that I don’t believe he used the seer stone and am still in good standing shows that it isn’t a vital belief.
Especially absurd because Joseph sometimes didn’t need the seer stone to translate
I think using seer stones Urim and Thummim was about developing faith. Belief in them is a faith builder for us even today.
Just mire signs we are in the last of these last days. So sad members are being led astray.
Good reason to settle the seer stone issue. If you have spent time among the native Americans, the Book of Mormon becomes a new.
For sure❤
Jimmy Carter just turned 100. First former president to turn 100

It's literally a rock. People want to leave the church, sue it, or refuse to pay tithing over a stupid rock.

Prophets will know when it is expedient for them to know… they walk by faith as well.
I love Him!

I agree.
We are converted by the spirit of God only.
Faith trumps all. We don't have all the facts, or all understanding.. yet. This life is the test. Do you trust the Lord or not? Thanks Jared! ❤
I don't know how this happens. I always taught people about the TWO seer stones he used to translate the plates lol.
This is an easy case. Plaintiff will lose. Again. Its a waste of everyone's time. Whether you agree or not, legally the case holds no water.

@@Jeanie-nv7lo A SITH eh? Now we are getting Star Wars involved in this? Was it Darth Sidius? Darth Maul? Darth Vader? A more ancient Sith? 😂
Haha just kidding as I was contemplating what Sith was involved I realized you just meant a Stone In The Hat. Haha
The Star Trek analogy is a great way to explain that. Thanks!
Lavar Burton (Jordie Laforge) told me that he loves me last week! I got it on my video coming soon on Catch the Buzz with others posted!!!
Ha ha I just saw the Some of the cast from Star Trek at FanX. I came to the pannel because of Lavar Burton who did Reading Rainbow and wanted to show him the difference he was making reading books to kids and giving me a desire to want to read.😭 Watch for my question/comment to him!
It all comes down to ONE thing. Is Joseph Smith a true prophet or not?
If you can say Yes, then ALL the rest is a moot point!
How, what, when, why, where ... our faith in Jesus Christ negates us needing to know any of that.
Faith: "The substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen"
God owes you NO explanation.
@@Jeanie-nv7lo very true. I went to the church's page and quoted their definition. Thanks😊
Amen
Love love the country thank you for sharing
Money money money money money money money money money money money money money
I love the Star Trek Ferengi comparison hilarious ❣️😅😂🤣lol
😂😂😂
The only thing not funny about this is if they win the lawsuit it will leave that door wide open.
I was hoping we didn’t need any money during the Millennium….everything would be “Free”!
We have to walk by faith and trust there are reasons beyond our expectations.
it is for all that comes before the second coming as prophetized by Isaiah and John the revelator
I believe in prophets. My whole life has been built around the words of prophets.
The prophets are also the ones writing the scriptures describing the great demise of the current system. Isaiah…a prophet particularly emphasized by Christ as one whose words would come to pass, as an example.
Isaiah:13
6 Howl ye; for the day of the Lord is at hand; it shall come as a destruction from the Almighty
9 Behold, the day of the Lord cometh, cruel both with wrath and fierce anger, to lay the land desolate: and he shall destroy the sinners thereof out of it.
Matthew 13:49
So shall it be at the end of the world: the angels shall come forth, and sever the wicked from among the just
I believe it.
Drive safe!
@@SolarSolaceFarms Do you study or practice, Permaculture?
I’m just a Soil Health nut, not a permaculture expert.
Church says Joseph used both tools. But what are the U/T if they're supposedly not _also_ stones?
💦🌀🌪💦🌀🌪💦🌀🌪💦
Not relevant to this specific video but Jared, have you covered the damage caused by the recent hurricane Helene in Western North Carolina? It is the worst flooding the state has ever seen. "Destruction of biblical proportions" is how it's being described. Entire towns wiped out! Hundreds missing or dead. Houses, roads, highways, bridges all swept away. Over 40 trillion gallons of rain dropped with no ocean or anywhere for it to go. The entire western part of the state is shut down!
It was so unusual for a hurricane to hit that far inland. It is complete devestation here. Please pray for NC. #signsofthetimes #prayfornc
People leave the church but they won't leave it alnoe.
Pretty blue car.
I love your analogy!❤
It's rather appropriate because the Ferengi were the money-obsessed guys!
It's not illegal to deface American currency, unlike many other countries.
I’m loving them Star Trek/Farengi argument 😂
Additionally, if they sent tithing to Koloa, I would think, “Awesome!”
Grievance culture.
Regarding getting your tithing back. Will they also pay the government back for the tax right off that was received?
I believe that the temple was suppose to come back and anything that else that needs to be restored.
To the church.
Simple fix make sure all people know about the seer stone before baptism because you were not shocked by it but a lot have been and it is real to them
