  • Hi, welcome back to the channel. It's CPU's Nature to produce heat during the run time. And excessive heat could damage the CPU and GPU. So that's way a proper heat sink is very important for all laptop and desktop. But a good CPU heat sink could go wrong because of dust and experted thermal paste.
So today in this video I am going to show you how you can fix the #CPU #overheating issue technically how to reapply the thermal paste on #Dell latitude E7470 laptop.
    So let's do it.

Hi! I have the same laptop and I'm planning to replace the CPU thermal paste as well. I have a tube of used-but-sealed Noctua NT-H1 which is a 'gaming' thermal paste - will it work with the CPU of the E7470? And can I apply the Noctua thermal paste the same way that you did on your video or does the application method vary by different brands of paste? Thanks!

Yes Noctua NT-H1 is probably the best paste you could buy after thermal grizzly. I use it and prefer to spread as thinner layer as possible. The difference in application varies only buy prefernce and many do not spread it. In this video the guy has put a lot of paste on, some would say especially the first lot is waaay too much for its size. However in testing, using too much doesnt usually produce lower results. There are many videos where others have tested the different methods and amounts extensively, many are happy to just not spread at all. Its about 50/50 in terms of spreaders vs non spreaders but it isnt easy the first time. Your paste is easy to apply as long as you have alcohol to remove the excess.

I guess they are like Lenovo in that they think "Viel hilft viel!" (A lot helps a lot!) and use some of the shittiest nastiest Thermal paste (more like Thermal concrete).
At work (I'm a beginner repair tech) we often joke that we should bill our cleaning of the fans and replacing the thermal as "performance improvement" (we do repairs for some big companies).
For those interested in it, spread thermal paste as thinly as possible, on a desktop PC with Heatspreader you should be able to just about read the printing on it. Or rather be able to reconize it.

It is important to apply the special cpu types, not the simply white. The White is not sufficient.

Nope... didn't help at all... Still overheating and shutting down when reaching 100°C - can't even open Google or any app/program at the laptop...
