  • Our first day of a 4 day, 3 night Havasupai camping trip. We checked in at the Grand Canyon Caverns and took the helicopter into Havasupai. We explored Havasupai Falls, Navajo Falls and Mooney Falls and also hiked to the confluence.
What days does the Havasupai helicopter run?
The helicopter flies Sundays, Mondays, Thursdays, and Fridays from 9:00am to 1:00pm
Helicopter travel is run by Airwest Helicopters and is weather-dependent. The cost for a helicopter ride into the canyon is $100 per person each way. Each person is allowed 1 bag. Any additional luggage is charged by weight. Reservations for helicopters cannot be made and are never guaranteed. You must show up at Hualapai Hilltop and sign in before 10am. Tribal members receive priority boarding. Tourists are boarded on a first-come, first-served basis. It takes approximately 15 minutes to fly from Havasupai Hilltop to Supai village.
Best time to Visit Havasupai Falls?
Havasu canyon is open to visitors year-round; however, peak tourist season is May through September. Water temperatures average 60 -70 degrees Fahrenheit during these months. Monsoon season in Arizona begins in mid-July and extends through August. Heavy rains cause flash floods during this time and evacuation of visitors due to high water is not unheard of. The shoulder seasons of September through November, March, and April tend to have comfortable air temperatures; however, the water will be chilly.

    I love your video.
Can you share where I can book the helicopter?

You have to show up at the hilltop or in the town of Havasupai and sign up on the sign-up sheet. They will collect your $100 cash and then you have to wait in line for your turn based on where you signed up. There are no advance bookings. It’s first come first served

Hi there! Love the video very informative especially since I will be going in September. Can I ask if the $100 cash is per person ? Also are you able to do the helicopter one way only? We were thinking of hiking the 10miles down but wanted to do the helicopter on the way up and and out

@@theryanmoya yes, it is $100 per person, and you can take the helicopter one way

Nice video, if I may, how deep is the water at the crossings to the beaver falls ? And are they slippery ?
Do I need a hiking stick to cross or can I do without one ?
Did u do the confluence ? If so was it hard ?
    Thanks

There were a few crossings and they ranged from ankle deep to thigh deep. Yes we did the confluence (I made a video on that hike too on my channel if you want to watch it) I didn’t find the confluence hike very hard, but I am an experienced hiker with lots of years experience under my belt. The confluence is mostly flat. The hardest part is finding the trail/river crossing points. We did bring hiking poles with us

Just happened to see your video when searching for Havasupai. If it is posdible that can you share you itinerary and the total budget you have spent on this trip? Thank you!

It is 455$ per person for the campground, 100 per person for the helicopter ride in. Our rental car was 300$ (Havasupai was part of a trip that we also took to the Grand Canyon so we had the rental car for 10 days.) accommodation before the hike in and after the hike out was around 400$. Then you have to factor in camping gear tent, sleeping bag, sleeping pads, etc. if you don’t have those items. We borrowed some stuff from friends and then we had some stuff over our own already. We spent $300 some camping gear, but that we will keep for the rest of our lives. Aire fare 350$ pp. I think it was close to 4,000$ when all was said and done.

We flew into Vegas. Drove to the Grand Canyon Caverns on the first day and spent the night there. Day 2 drove to the trail head to get the helicopter down into Havasupai. Day 3 hiked to the confluence. Day 4 hung out at Havasupai Falls and Mooney Falls. Day 5 hiked out to our vehicle and then drove to the south rim of the Grand Canyon. Day 6 rented e-bikes and bikes the south rim of the Grand Canyon. Day 7 hiked the top of Grand Canyon. Day 8 drove back to Vegas and spent the rest of the day at some casinos. Day 9 flew back home
