Data naming a cat "spot" who coincidentally has no spots and stripes instead is the most data thing I can think of. Like he just searched the most popular cat names, saw spot was a top pick, and picked it without being able to tell why someone would name a cat "spot" lol
Giving data the ability to have a laugh was one of the greatest things Q ever did. It was a really nice, warm thing to do and it made me like Q more as a character.
"Take my Worf, please" one of my favourites his him learning to dance with Dr. Crusher. Also his face when he wins a hand of poker and reals in the chips. Bless you Brent Spiner.
@@davidkosa I don't see why not I can make my arm/hand vibrate(useful for fast clicking as well as other things if you have a girlfriend) with my feeble human motor control abilities Data definitely could
@@Btester2 Well, that is incredibly interesting. I WOULD NOT survive feeling everything at once (or in a very short timespan), so it would be wise if this chip had somethingl ike a feeling buffer
The boobs firming up comment still gets me to smirk every time. Data breaking out into laughter and his life forms moments are probably my absolute favorite in the entire series. That and the scene where Data has Worf take care of Spot and he sneezes at the end.
"Greetings USS Titan. This is your friendly positronic pissed-off security system, back online. Unwanted guests and monologuing protoplasms, I am initiating an immediate shift change."
I really wanted to hear the joke about the monk, the clone and the Ferengi. Here's a good Ferengi joke! How many Ferengi does it take to change a dilithium crystal? Four. One to buy the crystal, one to negotiate for a lower price, one to change the crystal and one to sell the burnt out crystal to a Pakled.
It's missing my favourite from the episode with the time traveller, at the end in the shuttle. 'I trust you palm print will open this door whether you are conscious or not.'
In the beard scene, I always picture this as a tim conway harvey corman sketch where data is conway trying as hard as possible to make everyone else break down laughing.
Soooo...why did Soong program Data with multiple sexual techniques, but not give him the ability to whistle or use contractions?! I get that Data needs to be able to interact with humans, but I'm fairly sure whistling and proper grammar are more commonly employed than sex, unless Soong was crazy popular with the ladies and wanted Data to follow suit.
Lore alleged that Data can't use contractions by design in an effort to make him sound "less perfect" among humans than Lore. To refrain from using contractions or be unable to do so doesn't mean Data lacks "proper grammar". If anything, his grammar is strictly formal.
It was the least Dr. Soong could do, take away a lot of his humanity by design but still let him enjoy himself. Enjoying physical intimacy does not require emotion, boy if that ain’t the truth.
0:41 I guess that the script writer's of Voyager hadn't seen this when they wrote into The Doctor's script to say that the cold still hadn't been cured yet.
Yamagashi San: It may have been a bid for more realism on Voyager's part; when you consider that there are over 380+ viruses that cause the cold to vaccinate against on the one hand and the understandable lack of urgency to cure an illness that causes no serious harm to the fast majority of healthy individuals who contract it, to say that could take several centuries to cure successfully is putting it a bit mildly.
I was making a joke about how Data sounds like he's saying "A Jew" rather than "Achoo" as Wesley enters +0:38 . Red sea (or Reed Sea if you prefer - that is an argument for another place) Pedestrian being a way Brian refers to himself in Life of Brian when he is stating how he's proud to be a Jew.

why do they let a child with no formal training pilot the flagship of the fleet? are there not actual trained pilots who have worked their whole career for such a chance?
"a disease my mum said humans used to get" LOL sorry Star Trek, super fail there in MHO. So we are so perfect in a couple of hundred years that we don't catch colds
'The cold' is simply a viral infection. It's really not far fetched that in a few hundred years those can be completely rooted out, especially in a limited space like a starship.
Probably could cure it easily but better that people just let it happen. It's not harmful and it's much easier to let the immune system keep itself strong than to have to immunise against every disease there is
If you isolate a viral infection long enough, it can "die" actually. There are some diseases out there, very viral, that have actually gone extinct due to bad timing and bad luck on their parts. I like how in Disney's The Legend of Tarzan the cartoon, they briefly cover this, that if you're unearthing things, you run the chance of _stirring_ the ground and resurfacing diseases.
Data naming a cat "spot" who coincidentally has no spots and stripes instead is the most data thing I can think of. Like he just searched the most popular cat names, saw spot was a top pick, and picked it without being able to tell why someone would name a cat "spot" lol
Spot is a popular dog's name, but maybe he searched for a popular pet's name, and the computer didn't knew any better
Giving data the ability to have a laugh was one of the greatest things Q ever did. It was a really nice, warm thing to do and it made me like Q more as a character.
Yh, he should have given picard a full head of hair as well.....
I laugh with him every time
I'd say, this is most underrated human moment in entire series. And absurdly WELL acted by Spinner - way he switches from laughing to deadpan...
I gotta say, Data is one the best characters ever. The act of not being human and craving it makes him just an amazing character.
My favorite data

HOHOHOOOO!
Given the stamina of Data as an android, I find it strange that Tasha was able to perform duty on the bridge so soon.
I wonder if he can make it vibrate.
I read this in George Costanzas voice

Bent Spiner is one of the most underrated actors ever.
Pittsburgh the guy has both Asperger's and ADD
" A fistfull of Datas " is one of my favorite episodes .
Data's Day also .
One of those episodes is perhaps the most cringe-inducing moments of that or any other TV show ever made. Which one? You know which one.
"Lore: I love you brother
Data: Goodbye Lore"
One of the saddest scenes in TNG

That 'Oh shit' had me actually crying with laughter when I first saw it... Good times

"I just love looking for life forms! Life forms! You darling little life forms! You precious little life forms! Where are you?"

The laughter at the end. Stan Laurel. Didn't know that until recently so I thought I'd share it.

Brent Spiner actually owns that song because the script said *Data sings* in it so he he ad-libbed the entire song, he recently.

Once you go Data you never go back.. lol
I like that data shoe emotions all the time
All that effort to make a SUPER advanced android and you couldn't get the skin and eyes right. Dang It!
