Can't wait, I have never known PW to be more relaxed in interviews, these past few years have been a joy for his fans. Dan, your enthusiasm, your genuine interest, your love of the music, your personality, has made these podcasts absolutely wonderful.
@user-qw1tr1bn3h Agree, with someone like Dan, he knows it's the genuine love of the music, the real interest in the song writing process, with all Dan's interviews, his knowledge, his personality, and easy manner make for great listening.
What an amazing 2 hours Dan, a fan since '77 as a ten year old boy I've never heard or seen Paul more comfortable and relaxed as this, it was a joy to watch, thank you for all the hard work you have put in to achieve the prize! I salute you 🏆
This Is The Modern World is such an underrated album....Staring at a grey sky, trying to paint it blue, teenage blue...life from a window, I'm just taking in the view....Nice job Dan.
By far the best interview I’ve heard with Paul Weller. So refreshing to hear some practical well thought out questions from someone who clearly knows what he’s talking about. Not the usual topics that must bore Paul shitless! Thank you very much and we’ll done
Great interview Dan. ....!! It's been a long time coming...!! Thanks so much for the quality questions and time spent preparing well thought out mate.... I possibly heard through the grapevine you may accompany Paul on the US tour.…... Hope it happens for you look forward to meeting you.... . Cheers from Michigan 🇬🇧🛵🌻🍵💗
Brilliant interview. Very real and revealing of his musical work. Paul feels very comfortable you can tell. I love how Paul is always honest and accurate about his thoughts.
he was of hist time, copied Motown and everything that wasn't known, he has written very little original material. But hey ho I agree with him he's not a genius.
Paul Weller, still the mod father, no one cooler, been loving his music since the 70s , The Jam were the soundtrack of my teens, he is the gift that keeps on giving, I am an avid music lover and in my sixties so have been lucky enough to appreciate a lot of bands and artists over the years, I would find it difficult to pick a top ten of favourite songs but if I did, shout to the top is in there.
I genuinely think this is the best interview that I've seen with Paul, and i'm really pleased for you Dan, because it's a fitting finale for the wonderful 3 years of your amazing podcasts. Maximum respect. 👏👏
Just saw Paul at his first North American show in NJ. In a live show, he still has the chops and the magic in way missing from many other dinosaurs his age. It must have something to do with the drive and constant hard work.
Such a refreshing interview - the space and the conversation just flowed so easily. Thank you Dan for making this, to get Paul to open up in such a relaxed manner. A really special watch.
I forgot to say am a guitar player and believe me mr weller is a grade A player I honestly think he’s such a great songwriter his playing doesn’t get enough love 👌👌
I was a Jam fan from back when I was 11. This is the best Paul Weller interview I've ever come across and it's because the interviewer is a fan so he is not defensive.
Quality Dan -end of , Paul seems so relaxed and that is credited to you and your style and approach -Good work and thank you for all you have done to bring this to us all ,it really means a lot my friend
What a find! I am late to this but thoroughly enjoyed your interview with Paul. As others have noted, probably one of the best conducted interviews I've seen/heard. Thank you, it gave me both inspiration and hope!
Great interview @1:39:56 is part of what makes me a fan of his music. There are layers that you can listen to. Alot of artists don't put much thought into textures. Artists like Paul Weller always have great players who can add their own creativty to add a great bass hook or synth part that adds to the chords and melody of a great song. I put him right up there with other artists like Prince and Stevie Wonder for those reasons.
Such a refreshing interview - the space and the conversation just flowed so easily. Thank you Dan for making this, to get Paul to open up in such a relaxed manner. A really special watch. Given that he fell out with Paolo Hewitt because he wrote a book about him, you might have expected him to rail against all the people who contributed towards the podcast - but he seems to have embraced this. Well done Dan.
Thank you Dan!! 🥰 As usual, wonderful interview! I saw Paul at the Orpheum Theater in Los Angeles in the early 90’s and scheduled to see him there this September. I can’t f@#%ing wait!! Paul’s collection has meant the world to me ❤️ (I know you all get it👌🏽). Thank you Paul for all you’ve given (and continue to give) the world 🙏🏼xxx
There are these rare interviews where Paul seems happy and relaxed and they feel like precious little golden nuggets. I bit like that Times podcast from a decade or so ago with Pete Pephides, back in 2005, I think. Great interview, thank you.
Wonderful session - I connect with Paul - Why I am 70 Born in guildford Regular at Civic Hall in the early 70s - Played football at secondary school I went to Park Barn - Shared a win and a defeat against Sheerwater - My brother-in-law knew you Paul - He lived near you in Woking - Saw The Jam at De Monfort hall in 79 I think and have followed your career throughout - Politically I am your twin and really getting into 66 - One word of advice heartfelt quit smoking man I want to hear your latest album in a decade Much love John Living in THaiand
I have to say, I partly disagree. My sister and I went and enjoyed the music very much. However, the foul language, repeated and often, was completely unnecessary. Given that they had highlighted the young boy on somebody's shoulders and told him the song they had completed was for him - so they knew there were children in the audience - constant swearing, including the 'c' word - was totally unnecessary. Many people sitting around us also said exactly the same thing. I also didn't appreciate the pro-Gaza rant. Some people might think that's petty, and somebody accused me of disagreeing with him. I pointed out that whether I agreed or not wasn't the point. Rather, it was that I had paid to hear the music not a political statement foisted on me.
@@Havana-man I guess he’s using a platform, I’ve personally been threatening to be kicked off the platform because of my rants on Gaza. But yeah no need for the swearing , not to that extent.
@@russellnewton6660 I think the problem with a lot of situations nowadays - the US president, Gaza, trans, etc - is that debates are so polarised that no matter what point anyone of us makes, there's almost no room for debate, the "other side" simply says we're wrong. None of his histrionics on the night would make me enjoy his music any less, as I have been since the Jam days, but what we got was unrequired and not well received. Take care.
Really loving this and would be great to see it released as a video (or whatever we have now!). PW just seems so normal/laid back and honest which is great to see. I have always thought he is honest and genuine but sometimes a bit awkward, early morning TV interviews and criticising other peoples music but hey ho, that was his passion for creative music and a bit of insecurity I think. I read somewhere that Weller punched Simon Ritchie (aka Sid Vicious) in the late 70s......I've always wondered about that story but never heard it from Weller....I'd also like to know if the sales of his older records has increased in the USA...I know he said he never put the work in across the pond but I'm seeing a few reaction vids to his live vids from americans lately
@@PaulWellerFanPodcast What I mean is that all the other key figures from that period were discussed in detail except for his ACTUAL band mates. Perhaps the break up was particularly acrimonious?
