- I finally picked up the new model of the Darth Vader Lightsaber from the Disney Store. This newly revamped replica toy features a removable blade but some features are missing from the previous version. In this video I compare the Old VS New and consider how it would be to pick this up for a trip to Galaxy's Edge.

Kind of a judgmental thing to say but okay.
Couldn’t make the premiere, but just watched it on my lunch break. Always nice to have budget/lighter options for those that need/want them.
I love em, to me the removable blade is a game changer. Makes all the extendable ones I had pale in comparison. As you said Savi’s is a whole other thing, but for the price - I dig it! So far I have Vader, Rey, & Kylo.

just to let you know, in case you didn't know already, but another reason to get that specific Vader lightsaber is because the hilt design is specific to one used for posters and promotional images of Darth Vader for episode 3 Revenge of the Sith.
Thanks for this information! I was wondering why the hilt looked so different from the one I usually see. An at first, I thought it was just an inaccuracy, but it's nice knowing this WAS in the movies.
Whats interesting about this saber is that it is based off the design from Episode 3 that was never used on screen

I just bought the Yoda version of the new Disney store lightsaber (I got it for $30, which was the "Black Friday" sale price).
I agree with everything you pointed out in this video. It is a inexpensive alternative to the pricy custom Galaxy's Edge lightsaber (especially if you are looking for a cosplay prop that doesn't look like a toy).
Umm is there a way you can put batteries in the lightsaber

I just found one of these bay boys at my local thrift store for $4.59! Surprised my son with it and he LOVES the thing. Everything works!
Kinda wish they had always been removable, I probably won’t buy the new ones, but I’m glad they’re doing this now, it adds so much to this toy.

Wow. Found one with a white blade a few weeks ago at a thrift store . White blade but does the led extending light into red and later found another with a red blade and does the light up activation. Your channel is very informative and fun.

Great video as always! I was thinking of getting this lightsaber until you did the reveiw on the last one. I'm going to use them for dueling and I think this one would just break.

Not sure if it was a camera thing but it looked like the new blade was flickering where the old one wasn't.
I'm curious if this is by design or due to the removable mechanism.
I have the Yoda one and this happens on all the ones with a removable blade from the Disney store
i have a stiff blue “rey’s lightsaber”, i got it when i was around 7-9 years old, loved it then and love it now.
I cut my old ones up and made a blade plug to carry it in parks, wish. They had these 2 years ago.

About 1 month ago I spent nearly $300 on the Newest Rey Legacy saber. It’s a nice looking lightsaber, but the large size and heavy weight ruin it. I didn’t even know about the toy version until a few weeks ago. I purchased and received the Newer Rey (toy version) and was blown away at the quality. It has a rubber molded grip, painted as good as the legacy version and is about 2.5 lbs lighter in weight. In all honesty I think it’s the absolute best looking toy version. If you haven’t seen it, you should. Its that good. 👍🏻

Cool video, Dan-O! I was about to ask why the hilt looks different than the one I'm used to seeing, then I read the comments. I didn't know this one is based primarily on Revenge of the Sith. A neat little detail to justify me owning another Darth Vader lightsaber.
I have one of the ones with the telescopic blades (remember those?) from so long ago, but I like that with this sword, you get options. Attach the blade for sword mode, or attach the belt clip so you can wear it like a Jedi/Sith. The latter was one of my favorite parts about the old lightsabers.
Yeah these Disney store sabers aren’t bad for what they are. And they have some cool features those old telescoping sabers don’t.

Hey Dan-O, you mentioned that the connector on blade is like the one on the Savi's blade. I couldn't see it well enough, but are they similar enough that you could successfully use the Savi's blade in it? Just wondering in case somebody wanted a longer blade.
No they won’t work. Similar design shape but not similar electronics

Thank you for this review, after this I went ahead and bought it, I am happy with it, really liking how it makes a sound without the blade. Just one thing though, i noticed the "try me" (switch is at the middle) mode seems quite a bit louder than the regular turn on clash mode when you normally play with it, is yours like that too? Could it be the batteries, or its just mine? Thanks

Strange that new Darth Vader does NOT flicker and flash alot when pushed against another saber and rumble at same time because Disney store under Darth Vader, Rey and Yoda sabers all say in description battle clash feature when sabers clash.
I think that ONLY the Yoda saber has battle clash feature of quick flashing and flickering and rumbling same times when pushed against another saber....but for some reason their site says battle clash feature under all 4 sabers description on Disney site??

No, it does not, the black sections are different lengths and there is a pattern at the bottom so it can only fit in that one hilt
