This is the third video in our series on building a home addition on a small house with a crawlspace or raised foundation and will provide plenty of examples for the wall framing, interior remodeling and building plans.
I wanna make my room bigger, same addition process but I wanna remove interior wall, how can I do it
Great videos as usual Greg. Question could you have left the original gable and just added the new gable in the front? How would to roof look at that meeting point on the right hand side of the house if that could be done?
Yes, you could rotate the addition roof 90 degrees and install a drainage cricket at the lower section where the new roofs meet to drain or shed rain water, but I don't think I would do it in areas where it snows.
great videos, can you please do a video about floor joist spans when placing load bearing walls directly above the floor joist rather than above span beams. I’m building a small home on 12’ 8x8 posts, and I’m not sure how to make the platform structurally sound if load bearing walls are placed between beam spans on floor joists. We are trying to use as few posts as possible but don’t know what size floor joist are needed to put load bearing walls between the span beams. They are 14 foot spans and we are thinking of using 2x10s 12 o.c or do we need tjis?
I've already made quite a few videos about floor framing and load bearing walls in the engineering section at our website. However, let me know if you can't find what you're looking for.

@@gregvancom okay great thank you so much!
Thanks for doing all of this. It’s very helpful. Wouldn’t you just swing the offending door into the room instead of the entryway? ✌🏻🇺🇸
Is that door even necessary at all?
Yes that is another option, but sometimes when a door swings into another room it can create problems for furniture placement, block electrical outlets and even windows. Thanks for pointing that out and I'm sure that's a question others will have watching this video.
Muy buen video amigo👍
Sería mucho pedirte si puedes subtitular tus videos
Thanks for the video I only wish you had posted it a year earlier 😂
Glad you enjoyed it and yes it would be awesome to have had this information myself decades ago.
