This is a really cool idea- I hope this stuff gets more attention!
You and me both! Thanks for your support 🙏
You can get drunk in wow, so maybe to add this drunk effect everytime you are almost dead or getting a debuff or something
This! This is what I've been looking for. I'm yet to find the code for it, but it's 100% possible, right?
you can remove the player’s health bar so that he is guided only by the color of the screen
Thank you for suggesting this. It's a great idea! 🤌
It'll be implemented for the next video - along with a thank you shout out, if you're not opposed.
@@Bonnies-Dad sure, i was also thinking about doing something with player stats and item tooltips like weapons show only attack speed and damage done and no stats, but that would kill the whole point of the RPG i guess
To give an example, it is more challenging and less annoying, if for example the game prevents you from dealing damage unless you have 2+ enemies fighting you, - but I can't see the game allowing this type of mod unless you're not on official servers. Another example would be to make xp multipliers which increase slightly whenever you kill something, and decreases over time, meaning you level much slower unless you go on killing sprees, meaning you need to manage your resources as good as possible in order to keep the xp multiplier high.
Great ideas, I hope I can get to a deep enough understanding of the WoW API to make them!
Preventing a character from attacking unless under certain conditions may be achievable (I can't imagine altering XP drops is though).
As I progress, my addon making skills and understanding of .lua are improving, so I hope in a few episodes time I'll be working on the kind of things you're talking about.
Thanks for the feedback! 🙌
@@Bonnies-Dad I am happy you took my feedback with a positive attitude, i know your heart is in the right place, I look forward to seeing more ideas from you :)
What i said were just examples though, the general idea is, challenge is nicer if it requires wise player choices rather than punishing the player harder or restricting their ability to make informed decisions.
remove the xp bar? that would be interesting
This is ridiculous 🤣 love it
disable the quest progress tracking.
I really like this. You need to be paying attention to the quests you're on!
I'm now toying with the idea of removing the quest log entirely... is that too far? 😅
@@Bonnies-Dad the player needs some sort of letters inside his inventory written in this medieval font what quest he is on if thats somehow possible lol.. always need to visit a letterbox first and get the text of the quests you accepted written on letters.. idk can one write himself a letter even? testing this rn
i cant send mail to myself in retail at least :( dont know how to get an item with written text on it..
hidden levels: solved by looking levels up online, or by remembering everything, not hard, just annoying.
screen going red: increases difficulty, but in a very annoying way, not a fun challenge. Solved by playing super careful and staying high hp by playing ranged or killing easy mobs or grouping with other people.
I think the idea of creating a challenge mod is great, but adding artificial challenge through annoying mechanics rather than an increased need for skillful decision making is bad IMO.
Sadly you cannot modify the actual game's mechanics, which makes it difficult to come up with interesting challenge modifiers, so you have to be extra creative to make up for it.
I can't imagine the type of person who decides to play with this mod would look everything up online, it defeats the purpose right?
@@marlonmorris8245 yeah, it would, but on the other hand, when you just randomly die to things because of a number you don't see it's not fun, so i'd rather look it up.
Yes pls to runescape code
The first OSRS video will be ready soon! It will be a similar series to this, where we start with the base concepts, and build upon it over time.
I hope to see you there to get some feedback/suggestions on it!
With all due respect, these are not good ideas, here's why
- not having any visual indicator whatsoever to see health of the mobs, that's just bad design, it's annoying not challenging.
- not showing mob levels is pointless as it creates challenge only for people who don't know the game well enough
- making your character blind with decreasing health is again bad design, if anything it should be tunnel vision effect
Honest, critical feedback, thank you! 🙏
Yes, I imagine you're right about the mob levels. Given I don't know the game so well, I've probably been biased about what I consider "difficult".
Tunnel vision would be fantastic. I'll see what I can do about that!
@@Bonnies-Dad tunnel vision is absolutely doable, for example in Weakauras you can use custom images and textures
