I wrote to Peltonen's support few month ago and they're informed me, that they're planning to manufacture they knives of N690 soon. Actually they're wrote to me about 2 new steels - Sandvik and N690, but M07 maid of Sandvik is already available, so it's not news.
The 14c28n in the knife in the video is a sandvik steel. Sounds like they are bringing out a lot of new stuff. The change of ownership probably is the reason for that. Thank you very much for the information.
@KuukkeliBushcraft Now they are calling this sandvik "Alleima". Here is the quote: "We do not have plans for CPM 3V yet, but we do have a version with Böhler N690 and Alleima (ex Sandvik) 14c28n coming out very soon!"
Thanks for another interesting and intriguing video on Peltonen knives, Tim. Even though you know I have way too many knives already, ya just keep throwing these Peltonens out into my line of sight, don’t ya?? Well, now ya got me thinking, again, I might have to just pull the trigger on getting one of ‘em. Thanks a lot, pal 🙄😂. (But the good thing about having a lot of knives already is that my wife can’t tell when I get a new one 😉🤫)
The old sheath is better! Looks also nicer😅 Why change it? Well great knives all Peltonen. Interesting the new Peltonen. Should try it really. Looks nice. Thanx for the awesome presentation! Have a great day there in the north Tim!
They really are very good knives and the uncoated version looks good. They are just so functional. I guess a lot of that is because they were designed with the army in mind. Thanks for watching mate.
These knives are beautiful. Very minimal and purposeful. That sheath retention looks great as well. I've got a chunky Ken Nata build on the go, I think you're gonna like.
Designed for Finnish soldiers, so functionality is important. The Finnish army also used to have a very similar bayonet which was designed to be used as much as a puukko as a bayonet. The retention wheel is such a good idea, I am so surprised that I have never seen it copied. Looking forward to seeing your new project Erik.
I am undecided about the looks, the rubber handled one has a far better grip and is less heavy. I prefer the rubber one I think. They are actually quite different knives.
The little ones are great. Even better if you have an older one you can attach it too 🤣. I think we should write to Mr Peltonen and tell him "enough with the changes ,thanks". Thank you very much for stopping by mate.
Great overview, Tim. Really interesting. I would like to get the latest full tang peltonen, because I'm a huge fanboy! I'm sure one day I will. Thanks for the review! Keep warm, eh?
Thanks Jeff, nice and warm right now here. Nothing like a few days of proper cold to make everything feel warm 🤣. The new full tang is very nice, I definitely think I prefer the older ones though. Much more grippy handle and more comfortable. I just had to buy the full tang though. Thanks for watching mate.
Hi Tim. I hear great things about these knives. I don't like sharp spines either. I'm thinking of rounding my Brisa Trapper. I was preparing some food last week, and my index finger was just on the sharp spine, and it hurts. Have you look at the multitools? Cheers 👍
I am kind of undecided about sharp spines. It is good to have something that works as a scraper. It doesn't necessarily have to be a knife though also as you might guess I often carry more than one knife. I think I will buy a second hand supertool 300. I have been looking around. Thanks for watching mate.
@KuukkeliBushcraft Hi, I'm thinking of rounding the spine just around the handle a inch. Because when you turn the knife and hold it in different grips my index finger ends up there. Second hand Supertool 300 sounds great. You can check for Swisstool second hand as well. If you want something light duty check either the Bond or Rebar by Leatherman. Cheers 👍
I do like the vast majority of your videos, this one just had way to many model #’s, letters, and steel letters and #’s to the point that I just closed out of it and watched a fly fishing for Grayling Video instead. Half of the charm of your videos are the sled dog scenes and the Finnish countryside. Most knife sheaths are easily converted to different carries with use of awl, needle, thread, hole punch and rivets. I personally prefer traditional a Puukko in a traditional sheath, worn on my non-dominant hand side, on a belt in warmer weather. In winter, on a sash over winter clothing. Nothing flopping around on my chest dangling from my suspenders. Nothing attached to the outside of my pack, easy enough to get at inside if needed.
That's my worry too. We seem to have already lost the vertical leather attachment point. Hopefully they don't make too many other drastic changes. Unni is doing great, working hard, showing no sign at all of her age. Strong, fit happy sled dog. Looking after her friend Indigo at the moment who has just had an operation. Thanks for asking and for watching the video.
These “modern” puukkos with classic bladeshape and new rubber grips are really nice. J.P. Peltonen set the standard here. The Teraava is a good alternative. The Rokka Korpisoturi was praised for its excellent blade but unfortunately they went bankrupt last year. Peltonen sold his business, the blades come from Laurin Metalli now, I guess these changes on the sheats have something to do with the changes in production. This video shows your in the field experience in cold conditions, mounting options like this is not what would think of when buying a knife.
These kind of knives are very practical, synthetic handles are far from a new thing though. Handles quite similar to the Jääkäripuukko are found on many knives from the end of the 20th century, by Hackman and Kuusamon utsin. The big difference is the robustness of both the blade and tang. It can be a real nucence accessing anything on your belt here in the winter. Also if you carry a knife on you chest, there is less chance of losing it. Thanks for watching mate.
The extra leather piece and metal oval have been missing a while now, my 6 month old M07 uncoated doesn't have them either, it's annoying as it would make the sheath far more attachable.!
It just seems such a bad idea to not have it anymore. It is so useful.I have no idea how long they have been making the sheaths like this. I can't see it saving much money either. They could at least offer it as an option. Thanks for watching mate.
I have a old ffg version of the M95. I tried some sloppy mods as a student, but otherwise it is in great shape. I could send it over to you for a comparison with the contemporary saber grind M95. I would pay the shipping, no worries.
That would be fantastic Steve, thank you very much. I will send it straight back when I am done (and try to think of a little something to add to the package). You can contact me through the email address in my bio. Thanks a lot
It does, to me it looks a little more like a Helle. Maybe because it wasn't cheap it makes me feel better comparing it to something more expensive 😂, (Helle overpriced in my opinion). Thanks for stopping by Grizz.

Peltonen knives are now on my radar for future purchase. Thanks 🎸🔪
They are really good knives, The M95 I like in particular. Really surprisingly nimble in the hand for a longer blade.
Thanks for watching mate.

Thanks for watching mate.
Say hi to Maggie for me.

I have the uncoated m95, excellent knife, I've been really impressed using it, I haven't had it too long but so far so good.

Great knife review. 👍🏻
Thank you Arielle, a few knives in this one 🤣.
Nice one brother 👍 👏 👌. 😂God bless you and your family. Lee
Thanks Lee
God bless you and yours too mate.
still prefer the look of the rubber handle over the full tang one... which is quite interesting really. didn't expect that.
I am undecided about the looks, the rubber handled one has a far better grip and is less heavy. I prefer the rubber one I think. They are actually quite different knives.
Wouldn't trade my original M07 full flat grind for a new Buick lol. Great comparison video! I definitely need one of the new little ones.

After a bit of that, I thought of the adults talking to the Peanut characters.
I didn't watch peanut as a kid. We had dangermouse instead. Did the Adults in Peanut have Lancashire accents?
Thanks for watching
The adults voices in Charles Shultz Peanuts were unintelligible. The Peanuts characters paid no attention to them.

I hope success doesn't spoil Peltonen knives. Good look at some of the options. How's Unni doing?
That's my worry too. We seem to have already lost the vertical leather attachment point. Hopefully they don't make too many other drastic changes.

Hopefully the bean counters won't take over and ruin it. It happens all too often. @@KuukkeliBushcraft
Good video, thanks for sharing YAH bless !
Thanks Michael, glad you liked the video.
God bless
