Been watching Ian since the days of back from the dead. I love that he is never pandering. Always sticks to the primitive ways of customizing. Makes a guy like me that gathers parts, has to wait for things, and uses what I have in the garage at home to make things happen, feel good. And know that with time anything is possible
Totally agree and I have several files on my computer dedicated to Ian and his years of custom work it's great to see he has his own y tube channel and a lovely lady to share life with in the ranch
Gather of parts , Wait for things , and use what I have in my Shed yep that's me to , looks like I'm with you Mate , have a good one
Just one more thing from the guy in the hospital you you should get the boss a pink Hood that way they don't get confused
Sharing your mistakes is so important and why i love your videos, you are always so genuine.
Love the dynamic of you guys and Jamie’s laugh is so cute and contagious. Absolutely love you
Guys. Thankyou.
Come on Ian it's never oops for you. It's ooh that's freaking awesome. You are the mad scientist that can turn a oops into an awesome. Keep it up.
Ian and Jamie, You two make my favorite educational videos!
Jamie is doing a great job editing your videos. She's making your videos more enjoyable. Big fan.
I totally agree. She is geting better and better. YA JAMIE!
You should make it like a rumble seat like a sheet in there with the back that folds down then when you pop the lid up you can just raise the back of the sheet up in a couple people can ride back there one or two just saying something cool like that peace my brother
More RUclipsrs need to learn the art of editing. Jaime makes it feel like you never miss a moment.
Ian & Jamie, THINGS ARE NEVER SCREWED UP UNTIL THEY CAN NO LONGER BE UNSCREWED!
I thought that hinge would work fine, right up to the end. Ian is a smart guy and he always figures it out
I love Ian's shirt in this episode
Thank you both for taking us along on your fabrication journeys. I look forward to every video.
Thank you 😊 🙏
Love your show . Your artistic approach to your cars is unmatched. The low, calm voice you use to explain your work is relaxing. I am going to start calling you the metal therapist
Absolutely love your work and talent. The best builder out there.
Best part of wakin' up... Is Full Custom In your Cup!!!
Dude. Miss the shop inspectors. Love your work!!
Jamie & Ian I just want to say thank you for your content. I’ve been struggling with anxiety and depression and whenever I watch your videos it makes me forget about it all and i’m in a zen state. So thank you.
Been waiting all day for this. Been watching the repeats on the pluto channel full custom all morning
Such a rad idea with the circle lid. Looks awesome! Glad you guys leave the whole process in, even when things don't go exactly to plan. Keeps it real, because this stuff always happens
I would agree with Jamie about the location of the hinge. The lid should still pivot on top of the hinge. If all else fails, you must have a VW hinge someplace that you could use.
I could see that deck lid looking the the opening logo before all is said and done. It would be out of this world.😁 Great show.
Thank you for sharing🛸👽👍
Win some lose some. Keeping a good attitude, troubleshooting and overcoming is what really matters in life.
Great choice of music again and great content as per usual - thankyou.
Music was perfect for welding. Got the song "Blinding Lights" stuck in my head now.
Victor is a great inspiration to any Project, GOD Bless him.
Jaimee, love it when you have your say!!!, Ian knew you'd work it out, love it. Looks gr8,cheers
innovative thinker and builder I so admire him
Love the Shirt. Miss seeing him and the missis. Pit Bulls get a bad name but with Dude it's proof that it's the master who makes the Dog not the breed. Duke is a big baby. An awesome Dog.
I’m an Engineer been driving train’s for 25 years and you are correct about the hinge problem 😅😅 You’re truly the luckiest man on earth being able to make a living off your passion.
Hey Ian, I like the circle .How about another one centered and smaller ,like the width from the side fender line to the circle edge .I just see 2 Maybe you could incorporate a 1957 Plymouth hubcap. In the early 60's they were super popular ,pointed in the center,if you can find one . Swap meet ?
And that's why it's called "Fabricating".... Another great video!
Best Intro/Logo on RUclips.
“Outta this world”
Very happy to see you are honoring DUDE. He was great shop dog. HAVE A WONDERFUL DAY!
Ian really is the Bob Ross of fabrication. These videos are always absorbing, educational, entertaining and are addictive viewing.
Here's to many more "happy little welds" 👍😃
Jamie you are killing it on your camera work, editing and the music placement and choices are excellent. Really adds a lot with the music. 😊
Just adding comments so that u guys get more of that algorythem… I hear they help grow the channel and I love seeing u guys work!
I could see a driving down the road with leather aviator helmet and speed punk glasses. What an image.😎☮️🙏🍺😷
........stay tuned. There's more to come! 👀👩🦳
Ian: two ideas and a question. 1. For the exhaust outlet on your caddy, how about a chromed "mouth" at the end of your fender "beak", or 2: a finned slot down the seam of your fenders. Either way wouldn't interrupt the flow of the car as would adding an additional element to the bumper area. The question is, as you have it designed, how are you going to waterproof the bottom portion of your deck lid. Great show as always. Larry
You do a great job keeping him focus!
"Be Safe"
I love how you have adapted. Very hard to change hey. Just a new way for you guys 👍👍👍👍👍👍
Wait a minute, on that hinge business! Have you considered being able to remove that cover entirely? It could possibly be used in an extreme situation for a shield! Even car shows could become dangerous, in the apocalyptic near future! Dan S. From Michigan and Texas
First of all, on every parade, a little rain must fall. You are the wizard who can fix it. Love the tribute t shirt to Dude the shop inspector. I had a deft Frenchy whose name was Dude. Awesome pup. Okay Jamie, if y'all flirt, just add another disclaimer and flirt away. Thanks y'all.
i was hoping the circle was an alien ship that would rise and spin with colored lights... lol.Loving the content
😂😂😂👽 Thank you!
Everyone makes mistakes and that’s how we learn what’s more important is knowing how to repair your mistake. keep the giggles coming. Can’t wait for your next video. Hope to see you both soon.
U can do it cheers 🥂 guys 😊
Love that you build like I whitnessed in early 80s. Was walking around a speedway in the early 80s looking at all, I was a kid, but what you build is so much what I wanted.. your vision is really what our generation wants!!(rules...pfftt). Go Ian, fly.........hahaha 😂
Glad you enjoyed it
Ian, You are one cool dude and an awesome fabricator! I miss seeing the shop inspector 🙏
Awesome project but you might want to put a drain inside the trunk to collect the water when you wash the car or if it rains! Or redesign it with a drip rail and traditional trunk hinges. Just something to think about.
I knew you’d figure it out as soon as you tried to open it good job it’s gonna look fabulous.
Thanks for sharing 😀👍
Before you started explaining the hinge, I was thinking about how many hinge types there are… like going down the cereal aisle. Yours is light and simple, the best option.
great ep shows how to handle concept hiccups and understand no need to panic just step back re think and boom new plan to fix!
Ian I have no doubt you got this figured out it’s part of the process and we’re seeing how to overcome the obstacles that’s gonna be in any build, thanks for the video you two
I like how Ian explains the how's and why's of what he does as he works. Thank you for the lesson in fabrication and turning a "oops" into a "happy little modification".
Filming is great! The angles are always perfect and the humor is an upside down frown... lol. If this were a Steampunk rod, would have loved to see Ian's take on an inner antique round vault door on the decklid.
Ian & Jamie, I was a Master Machinist and Researcher. My saying was " If I knew what I was doing, I would not call it Research. I believe the same goes for you with this "Round Trunk Hinge Set Up"
Love it. Work the problem. Solve the problem. Always thinking Ian.
The ring on the deck lid would look cool chrome plated against the final color paint.
I love this backend with this round door and all those very well spaced tack welds which I know will be worked out but it reminds me of something out of the movie metropolis I think it was a 1920 or 19 something movie anyway you’re doing wonderful work love your show😎☮️🙏🍺😷
Oops?? That! 😂 you already had it fixed in your head!👌🏻👍🏻 Good stuff!
You will straighten it out ! No,problem this happens when you make one of a kind custom work ! That’s why no one does it but you ! 👍🏻👍🏻
Any chance we will see Ian finish the VW build..I know you explained the other day Jamie that Ian is a fabricator and doesn't need to finish builds,,,well there is a lot to be said for taking your fans along for the full build start to finish...and Ian started building and finishing cars and showing them at car shows years ago (well before his TV show full custom garage)..just a thought from a huge fan of you guys and your channel
Yep! You just won’t get it in TV time… most of the FCG builds were rushed and not complete and done in less than a years time.
Over the years have looked at lots of diffrant custom car shows ! But must say I like this show so much - great team …. Lots of interest .. keep on keeping on!
Impressed with how this turned out 👌
Two hinges at back rumble seat can be 10" up from bottom dead center on each side, versus at the bottom center.
Love the show!
😮❤😅 love ya! Love all the creative problem solving, it's gonna be great!
I also think that the hinge needs to be a little stronger if Victor wants to turn it into a usable rumble seat. It does look cool though. 👍
Wasn't a believer in the roof, but you sold me. If you make a u shaped tie piece between each hinge half, it should provide the clearance. 6" hiegit x 3 " wide.
You guys are fun to watch! - Jim
Yes straight through the center of the tube 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Never forget that when you put hinges in something....the axe of it, must be outside (the door or window and the frame)..Hope this helps you...I am an industrial designer, I build furniture and this kind of mistakes are very common. Thanks for sharing your knowlege.
Absolutely Love the show/ So cool to see the stages of progress. I have a Project I've been working on since 2010. And it looks like it will need some Ian Rousell's "touch of grace" to bring it all together, when that time comes. Thanks for the great content.
Thank you! We appreciate you and leaving a comment for us
That new hinge will work, i believe in you!😊
Interesting to watch, nice work also bldg that lid
Best Father, Daughter, Son Channel on RUclips
Salut c est un sacré travail ce que tu fait c est impressionnant continue tu et doué de l'art dans les mains 👍💪 French 🇫🇷
Good Sunday morning Ian and Jamie ! Now you know that first time success with something like that trunk hinge rarely happens , I don't care what kind of engineering degree you have ! Ian your shirt brought tears to my eyes😢 I lost my boxer dog ( Shilo ) right about the same time you lost Dude. I know they are running around playing together , waiting for us to join them. God Bless you both...Soooo love the video 's
Ian I love the shop inspector shirt. I have to order one from you.
Funny story, I recently inquired a shop Inspector a couple of nights ago.
A cat wondered in & I thinks he's planning on sticking around 😊
Cleaner having the hinges inside agreed. You are trying to minimize with style - very cool
Ian ur pulling off that red head look lol 😊
It'll fix up ok. Great episode. Have a good week. Marc from Australia 🇦🇺
Been watching you since day one. Love what you do. Been watching your Volkswagen build and you've inspired me to take apart my t bucket and put a little Volkswagen in it or should I say on it. We'll see how it goes. Keep up the good work and thank you
Looks great what your doing. Take your time and get right. Can’t wait to see the finish product.
Happy Sunday y'all
Possibly the hinge needs to be slightly angled as well as spaced away from the two frame pieces so there's room for the pivot
Some serious face palming went on during this one. As an engineer (lapsed) I saw what you did wrong but no matter how much I shouted at the screen you ignored me (hehehe) but I recall what my Dad always said to me, "the man who made no mistakes made nothing at all".
Loving where this is going. Keep it up Ian.
And Jamie... production values just keep going up and up. So impressed.
Thanks for another great vid. I love all the reality and creativity, very inspiring. Like how you softened the curve at the top of the trunk area looks great and overall very cool build.
This car is like if one of the ninja turtles were a car builder! I love it!
Make it nice. Do it twice! Story of my life. ❤️😎
Did I hear you say... Deco-Lid....😮
Very cool! 😎
Oooooh fancy soundtrack it’s like I’m watching an 80s John Lynch movie
Customizing is trail and error mostly error but in the end it's the small victories that make a build amazing
DryFilm lubrication would be the best choice, considering the conditions of the environment. It will not melt nor attract and retain dirt/sand.
Fantástico seu trabalho suo fã
Well that was a fun episode!
Nice job... IT is a voyage of discovery... Especially when you travel fast and loose! A mock up done can always be undone... 😂😂
Always learning something new. Thanks for today’s lesson.
A lot of people think you can't get as good a weld with flux core as with gas but my grandson owns his own welding business ans anytime he is in a windy situation he uses flux core and his welds are perfect. It's all about getting the machine set right and your welding habits.
You could add a short stub of tubing between the x in your bracing and the center of the skin. Dan S. From Michigan and Texas
You’ll get that worked out quickly!!
just watched you old fire truck build . wow
Hi Ian and Jamie,
How about turning the trunk cover into a barn door style of opening?
