This has been the video I have been looking for! The only thing missing is how to take off the piston cap! Yours in the video was already unscrewed, otherwise, fantastic video to finish my first vac restoration.
Thanks for making this! I've been curious about how to restore these (I've restored most other types so far, vacumatics, leverfillers, snorkels, etc.). I'm still more than a little bit intimidated by how much more work these are but maybe I'll give it a shot one day after I have all the tools.
This was my 6th successful vac-filler repair. I did another one the next day. Once you know how, they can be done, but it is still one of the more difficult pens to repair.
this video was very helpful!! i got my pen apart (it’s almost like the one in this video, but the plunger thingy is trashed. and the nib unit need to be replaced because the nib is partially broken. Where do you get your parts?
So I have two Carmine Red pens and now I understand why the repairman didn’t want to attempt to fix one for me. Does anyone attempt to fix one for people like myself?
There are several professional repair shops. Some that specialize in the Sheaffers. Sadly, some may be beyond repair. I have a drawer full of them, or parts of them.
I think this is the video I need. I have one that says Lifetime on the nib and is a vac filler. now i just need parts.

I’ve ordered my repair tools, however I would like to get a work surface and was wondering where you got your silicon mat from.

I get parts and tools from Pentooling.com but things like replacement nibs I have on hand from pens I couldn't fix
