Jaye Davidson was an excellent actor, his character was brilliant and hypnotic. He is very talented.

I have seen this movie i don't know how many times but this opening is a version i have never seen before, much longer than the cinema release i've been watching all this. Wow, cool to see this "new" detail.

the stones were on top of the stargate which was destroyed killing a Jafa ( the fossil)
The start of one of the greatest sci-fi universes ! One that can rival with Star Wars, Star Trek, Halo and all the others ! WE WANT STARGATE !
Star Wars doesn't deserve 9 movies while we had only 1 Stargate.

I need to watch this film again. I watched it at the cinema when it first came out and it is one of those films that i can watch over and over again without getting bored of it.
Jaye Davidson retired from acting after this film. He was also great in The Crying Game.
And just like that, I want to watch it again.

It was like seeing how the Federation in Star Trek got all that power before the original series started.

I wathced that movie in 1994. It was so good. If you haven't watched it, I highly recommend it.

The movie was an exquisite epic with beautifully crafted props, sets, costumes, epic music, acting, dialogue and a concept that had huge potential for storytelling.
The series fulfilled that.

I don't understand why on Wikipedia It says an actor by the name Dax Biagas played RA in this scene when it is clearly Jaye Davidson. I don't know if it's a mistake or they found a carbon copy of Jaye Davidson wich i find unlikely. Does anyone know more about this because i can't find nothing written that explains it
Jaye does have a credit - but google that kid Dax hes spitting image m8 its uncanny

@@mcfcguvnors so i Google him and found out he worked on an episode of Fresh prince of bel Air and another show, i checked them out and while he strikes a resemblance to Jaye he still doesn't seem to me like the person depicted in the Stargate prologue, probably they may have used as a stand in for the far away shots or from the back but face of young Ra still seems like Jaye to me.

What happened with the first ancient guy ?
His body was used as a vessel by the alien being who calls himself "Ra" later on in the film.
If I would find a giant ring in the desert, the last thing I would say is, it has to stand upright!

@@SammEater Well, actually it was made because they needed the stargate upright in the following story.. just saying there in the desert with no idea what it was to pull it up was kind awkward.
