The rate at which 9 got powerups is way to fast. So in otherwords the skinny weak ass 9 that got destroyed completely in round 1 lost round 2 comes back with plot armour for round 3. 9 is the protagonist of most shounen at this point

In recent chapters we've spent a lot of time with the side characters. What if that's setting up Kafka losing himself to the kaijufication and becoming the villain. Then the real story becomes what the Kaiju truly are since we don't know that and how to turn Kafka back. We could continue to follow Reno and kikoru like we have been as they try to save Kafka with minas help. I only say this because it was worth noting how much time we've spent away from Kafka and with all the side characters.
I would prefer this over a Kafka x Mina ending XD.
But remember, if there an ending chapter, that means Kafka will officially be powerless without the kaiju no.8 when he eradicates every single kaiju and even defeated the commander of kaijus but Kafka will slowly die.

People thinking an mc needs a life partner to stay happy is getting annoying at times
To me if they end up together it would be the cringiest romances ever that isn't in the degenerate category. Everything points platonic to me and if they make them together you have to consider how bad the lead up is. Two people that had that kind of upbringing in childhood together and CARED about each other wouldn't just go no contact/limited contact like they did they would see what's up. When someone with that amount of history stops talking you will investigate why and not be like eh w/e and when you see them again act distant(unless you truly don't care for the person).
