    Hi All,
As an Israeli I need to pinpoint you all to three important mistakes:
    1) your weather was good because of the dates - if you will travel around April - Sep the south will be very hot and very dangerous.
    2) As you mention during the winter the area of the dessert are also very dangerous because when there is a rain the valley become death trap - there is a unbelievable water stream that you can not run away from it. ruclips.net/video/DsiJnyCFpA4/видео.html
    3) at the summer there are many scorpions and sneaks - sleep in a tent not on the floor.

Billy, great video, thanks. Few comments: Hiking the desert is dangerous between May to September, it's extremely hot. July-August is hot and humid anywhere in the country. The preface to the guide and grocery store list are very useful. Better to download them from the INT forum: www.tapatalk.com/groups/israeltrail/ , while still at home. On 10.15.19 the INT has been diverted from Arad to the Dead Sea. It's a great area to hike. Thanks again Billy .

Why the trail doesn't start at Mt. Hermon? Simple: because that's in the Golan Heights, which have been annexed from Syria in the Six-day War of 1967 and this is still a disputed territory. The Israel National Trail also doesn't cross over into the West Bank, for the same reason. It's supposed to be a trail anyone can hike, without any political controversy.
And any viewers beware: you certainly shouldn't hike the desert portion in summer, it will be dangerously hot. In fact, I believe that some sections are closed off during summer.

Hey Billy, Thanks for the info. I may be doing a few hundred km of the trail in a few weeks and have a question. I'm planning to cowboy camp and was wondering if dew was much of an issue. I actually have the same sleep system that you do and am wondering how that worked out. (SOL Escape Bivvy + SOL Emergency.
    Thanks
