I remember when my wife cooked my first meal. She knew I loved soup beans. She made a pot full. They was crunchy as a lays tater chip but she asked ...how are they ? Are they good ? Luckily I had my mouth full and had time to think. I thought ...if I say theyr not good it'll kill her confidence and she'll never try again do I said ...yes indeed . Then I gently made a suggestion and I been eating delicious beans for 44 years now

@@sallyroses she said it's a kitchen aid mixer hun... I just think that items are not made to last anymore. Washer and dryers would last lifetimes... We are lucky if they last 10 years before repairs are needed. As a consumer its frustrating, for the company's making these appliances they know if their product is made to last lifetime s then we (consumers) wont normally upgrade as often as they would prefer. Cheaper made products=more sales. Built to last they won't have enough turnaround sales.

My first memory of blackberries is my grandmama cooking either a pie or a cobbler with them down on her and granddaddy’s South Georgia farm when I was visiting and only about 6 years old. They are still one of my favorite things ever, for jelly or cobbler. I live in Washington state now and there are more blackberries here than any place I have ever seen. All our rain really encourages those things. My granddaddy’s family was from North Carolina and my Daddy’s from Kentucky.

Mix cream cheese and powder sugar adding vanilla, and mix well. Fold in whipped cream/cool whip until well blended and spoon into a graham cracker crust and place in fridge . Fab with or without topping like pie filling and makes a pretty high dreamy pie

Just thank you. My dad's family came to the US before the revolution, but my grandmother had passed on before I was born. So it was my mother, who was a refugee that survived the holocaust and the Russians after WWII who taught me to bake. My go to recipe from her was a Kuchen she made from a buttery sugar and vanilla dough rolled out on a baking sheet and then topped with your favorite fruit. She would slice apples on top and then make a toping of sugar, flour, cinnamon. Bake it at 350 until golden brown. So that became my go to recipe. After you can serve it as it is, or with ice cream, or even topped with whipped cream. Thank you so much for sharing who you are. Its just wonderful and greatly appreciated.

I have made this recipe in cupcake tins and paper liners. You just drop in a vanilla wafer and put your filling over it. Once cooked you can add your choice of topping. It is a nice touch for the 4th of July to add cherry and blueberry topping.

This blessed my heart. My Grandmaw (raised in WNC) passed away 6 years ago and I remember back to when on Sundays she would always cook Sunday dinner. She took such joy in cooking for her family and of course we couldn’t wait to see my grandmaw, aunts, uncles and cousins. This brings back so many memories. One thing she always had was this dessert. She had to make several of them to feed the bunch. She always had a cherry topping. I haven’t eaten this in probably 30 years. I made this the day after I watched this and it tasted just like I remember. Never thought it would have been that simple. Thank you for sharing.

2 C whole wheat flour, 2 C white flour, 1 t salt, 4 t baking powder. Mix well. Cut in 1/2 a cup of soft butter. Sour 1 1/3 C rich milk with a dab of vinegar. Mix into dry ingredients lightly, pat out on a floured counter, at least 1/2-3/4 inches thick. Cut into about 2 inch squares and place on a baking sheet. (I don't waste time with a circle cutter, but feel free to if you like) 425 degrees for about 12 minutes; they should rise high. Makes about 16. 40 million calories, but who's counting?!

I'm from Mississippi and my husband is from West Virginia. I learned how to cook from my granny and mother as well. Mama used to make this same exact recipe. I think she got the recipe from a church cookbook. It is one of my favorite summer desserts for sure. Granny's staple, "go to" dessert was a jelly cake. If you've never heard of that, it is just a basic vanilla/butter, layered cake from scratch with jelly (homemade, any flavor) spread between each layer. It was our pastor's favorite so she made sure to always have it for dinner on the grounds at church. Thank you for sharing. This brought back such precious memories.

I’ve made this many times and I’ll usually make a couple of toppings separately because not everyone likes the same thing. Blueberry is a big favourite but I like apple stewed with a little brown sugar, cinnamon, and vanilla and then just a few lines of caramel sauce over that. Another fast and easy dessert type dish is whipped cream mixed with a bag of mini marshmallows and a well drained can of crushed pineapple mixed together and left to sit for a couple of hours. If I am making it look a little fancy I’ll put Nilla wafers around a glass bowl and put the mixture in them then sprinkle some crushed wafer crumbs over top. I think it was called Pineapple Snow or Fluff in the older Ladies Institute cookbooks. It was popular at picnics and barbecues because you didn’t have to use the stove or oven on hot days and people didn’t want to eat heavy food in the dog days of late August. 🙋🏼

First, my wife and I purchased our Kitchen Aid stand mixer circa 1985, and it appears to be the exact model you have. Second, I do the actual bake in a "ban Marie", or "Tia Maria", if you prefer, but you have inspired me to make it, and I will be buying a few packs of Philly cream cheese tomorrow. Oh, and if you have never tried it, I use pistachios chopped in a food processor mixed with butter and sugar as the crust. Toppings for my wife and me are usually some seasonal fruit, which these days in a suburb of a big city is pretty much anything - but I actually prefer blueberries. Thanks as always!
