Yeah there is a lushness and something in the EQ in the MXR which is pedal but I ended up with the Biyang on my board due to true bypass (as opposed to tone sucking hardwire bypass) and being able to power it with a 9volt, the biggest difference is on the more subtle settings and the control of the speed.
@@JimijaymesProductions The 100 has a 1uf Tantalum cap on the output. They distort / compress a bit. The Biyang is full of wima film caps. At least that's what the website says. I modded my 100 for true bypass its not hard. Might just pick up the Biyang and see what's up under the hood.
@@paulmea3166I think the same, the value or the type of caps make a small low pass filter. Do you have a clue of where is the output cap? (I can send you a picture of the circuit). It have 1 cap of 1uf (wima film like you say) aparently in the same place of the output cap of the orginal mxr phase 100 (C7), but im not a expert.
MXR script unit has had an LED added to it. Have you owned it from new, if so is it modded in any other way? The schematic at GGG of JD Sleep is presumably a direct copy of the original MXR script and it is that which I'm guessing is what BIYANG have copied, so why the discrepancy in tone and speed. If anyone knows it could be useful in modding the BIYANG version to the original script logo specs. It would be a much cheaper way of getting a PHASE 100 than paying Dunlop's (and collectors') exorbitant prices.
I unfortunately don't know I inherited the pedal with a power input and led possibly added I doubt the rest of the circuit was touched and this demo was using the original battery clip for power. In regards to Biyangs clone I;m not sure where they git the circuit design but I feel like the schematic is out there.
You'll never get 2 pedals to sound like for like with such differences as, when the mxr was made electronic parts were junk and unreliable and every part of your signal chain makes a difference, why do you think so many people, who buy from sound reviews end up dissapointed....Because no Pedal will sound the same in 2 different boards.
Of course not, this is more to see if it gets close to the right kind of sound. Outside of surface mount pedals most pedals are going to have subtle differences. The biyang is pretty close for a cheapy clone pedal and enough that you don't need an mxr to get that sort of phase sound.
I drilled a hole on the side of mine and run a voodoo lab cable thru it. Works great!
i prefer the clarity of the biyang
same is with me, he kinda kinda fucked up biyang setting but i like it more.
The Script MXR sounds warmer to my ears yours too ?

Bit late to the party but the biyang definitely sounds truer to the tone of the guitar and amp, the mxr seems so add a muddiness
did you ever try behringer vintage phaser?which one better?
YOSOV F no I haven't I believe it's the only cheap small stone copy would love to try it.
Yes you're right, thanks for reviewing these pedal, biyang has a nice sound for cheap pedal
Mxr sounds richer to my ears, wonder if they copied the circuit
Steve Henderson yeah I agree a little more harmonics or something and filtered slightly differently less metallic
Thank you, very appreciate.
MXR has a big bottom mid boost..
Nice 1 Knackers!
both sound good...(the mxr has a bit more body)
for a cheap model the bijang is def an option!
Thank you sir
WATCHED IT FROM THE HOUSE!!!!!
Good jooorb
Cheers. Thanks for watching!
The MXR sounds expensive to my ears.
Puuuulease stop with the nonsense, in a blind test you wouldn't know what cost what, so wind your neck in....
