2:00 You get what you measure and what you reward. Close loop the system, if you reward certain behavior, you'll get it.

The legacy of late Mr. Welch (RIP) and Leadership......reinforces the value of CULTURE where tweaks are made based on circumstances, but the Sincerity, Clarity, Objectivity and Integrity never gets compromised....is it not something like a child who grew up with good values and culture never gets corrupted as he or she graduates from nickers to suits and then to hospital robes.......Culture is seminal and the light that shines at all levels (birth to death). Culture can never be nurtured with kid gloves, they need to be drilled through adversity Thanks to legends like Mr. Welch that candour will never die as a virtue and reflects Culture in an organisation/society/humanity. Rest in Peace, Sir !!

Firing 10% of your staff every year is an amazingly stupid concept.
Long term effects in real life:
Nobody shared knowledge. Afraid of others getting better and one being at the bottom. Seen in real life. Company knowledge disappears after employee retires.
In research environment layoff of 10% of bottom researchers is bad as most of them are better than other departments. But every manager has to fire someone no matter how good he/she is as the others are better. So the previous paragraph is even more impactful.
Company has no long term future.

Is he still teaching at CIAU?
Whats up Jack? I only scanned through your biography (divorces part). BE YOURSELF I WOKE UP TO REALITY.
Jack is teaching Leadership at CIA University (or was I think he was trying to make money doing this). I needed the foreign language classes but sure I can stop by to see "HOW TO BE A CEO TAKING OVER BLACK MARKET/DRUG CARTEL".

These principles don't work with gen Y. They want flex schedules, more family time, less stress. These kids are 180 degrees different.

Not the gen Y people that work for me. As with every generation, different people want different things. You want to manage a function then plan on working 60 hour weeks.

This so called winner got caught bad with the Honeywell deal...A good smackdown was issued by the EU and he duely went on his way

caught bad? The EU ruined a great deal and once again, government hurt the consumer. He was already scheduled to retire so he didn't "duely went on his way" he proceeded with his retirement.
