I learned a great deal from this short video. Thank you for this video and admitting that it can take up to 30 proof prints to get the plate right - now I do not feel so bad about the number of proofs I have to make 😃
Thanks! I would say that it's an iterative process. Maybe there are printmakers who can make a finished piece with just a few proofs. In the Starship engraving video I also show the proof prints.
When I was in college I studied Giovanni Piranesi as part of one of my classes. I love the look of engravings, especially the ones with annotation and described technical drawings. Your work is beautiful. Keep it up
@@jonturn7 Filmed all the clips, but never had the time to edit them properly and dub the video :/ I still engrave though. Maybe, once I have a little bit more time. I recently uploaded a video of a Podcast I was invited as a guest. You might like it.

Loved this video! Your patience is very admirable
Thank you, Andrew! It's my way of relaxing, my meditation.

I love old engravings. And the engraved, crisp, embossed intaglio line is like nothing else. The printed line is also super pleasant to touch.
Wonderful
Wow. That was a great watch! Thank you for creating that video and your work looks gorgeous!
Thank you so much Jon! Will try to make more in the future. There should be a new video maybe in January :D
@@GailitisPrintmaking Looking forward to it! Thank you!

How do you remove burrs after engraving with a burin
@@marlenevidibor8054 good question. Either by snipping them off with a scraper or sanding with sandpaper.
@@GailitisPrintmaking won't those leave marks on the plate?
