This lineup was so much better .. than the one that came after with the Drover brothers . Al and Jimmy were top notch musicians .

@@SJ-ty5rw Man I agree. This is the most underrated lineup Dave ever had. May be my favorite. This group was tight

Lol...you want "in your face?" Thy wish is 'Deth's command...Think of Dave what you will. He's an "ass" to work with etc, etc. Gotta hand it to him tho, whichever incarnation of Megadeth that it's been, all are friggin top shelf in their disciplines. 'Deth, along with a handful of others, have stayed "true" to what they are...and, THAT'S what's badass about Thrash/Speed Metal. You feel like throwing a brick at your mom's face? The stuff will supply the "soundtrack" every time.

Megadeath is my go to heavy metal band. Second would be Judas Priest , then Iron Maiden. I never liked Metallica, Anthrax or Slayer and never listened to thrash metal assuming it was all the same. But then I got a copy of Peace Sells But Whose Buying and been sold on Megadeath ever since. They are an amazing live band

It's well worth checking out the entire concert video to see how Al Pitrelli plays their earlier material. Not to detract from Marty Friedman's incredible solos but Friedman does use what I would call "cheat" methods to hit notes - sweep picking being the common example. Pitrelli doesn't do that - he plays the notes in a less economical way by using more conventional picking styles and selecting his notes mainly from the rigid box patterns. It's much more impressive to watch.

Whats interesting is Mustaine said once in an interview , that had Marty and Al , both auditioned the same day . He would have picked Al . But then after Al and Jimmy left the band . He said Al was a good temporary replacement .. but certainly no Marty Friedman ! I think he was telling the truth at the time . Then put Al down later for personal reasons . He knows damn well Al was a great player
