Good to see a long update. Your son is getting so big. That tanks seem to be hitting their stride. Sps is exploding. I remember back in the day when you were not wanting to keep sps now you look like a pro.
Thanks man, it seems like as long as I could keep the main parameters steady and just let the tank do it's own thing, it stays on course. Maybe I should carry the same energy to child rearing instead of micro managing, lol.

Yay new video! CoralVue does have very good customer service. I used to have constant notification from the powerbar but since the new house and upgrading the netgear orbi I haven't had a notification for months. This go around, the satellite orbi unit is hardwire (cat6 cable) to the main unit instead of depending on wifi. I wonder if that made a difference also.

I just ordered the hydros pro package with the xp8 and x4. Can’t wait to get it. There’s not a lot of info/review on the hydros and i’m sure a lot of people would love to see a full review/ how to use video of the hydros on your channel!
Check the Coralvue RUclips channel. They do alot of videos on setting up and using their controller. I actually live close to them, small world.
Happy to dive in a bit deeper on how I have my Hydros set up in a future video. Like kiddt said, CoralVue does have a lot of nice tutorials out on their channel if you're looking for something specific!

Just a note on Hydros wifi power strips. I have five running. Never an issue. I have had two five hour power outages and I didn't have to push any buttons for the power bar to come back on.

I have a softie tank that get’s no maintenance whatsoever from me and it honestly does much better that way than when I’m constantly trying to control everything with it. Dosers with the main requirements and some good, established LR and it’s pretty much set it and forget it, minus the top off obviously.

I thought they are reef safe and would pick at sponges (though I have heard of them potentially picking at corals); I would love to try a pair in my tank but my tank may be too small for them. 😢
I have the disconnect issue too with the Hydros but it seemed to go away. Maybe a wifi problem at my house??

I really like the individual hydros wifi plugs with my controller. They also do power monitoring. Are you pulling the alkatronic data into your hydros app? Looks like you have a lot of open spots on the x4, need to get into the 0-10v! Check out JB aquatics for accessories for the controller
I love fintastic. Really one of the best reef stores in the area. The tanks are looking amazing! Hopefully mine can one day reach this lvl. I started based off your budget reef series (still use that same light) and have gone to a mushroom heavy reef
Hook it up to 2.4 ghz wifi and you wont have any problems! That's what fixed the wifi for me.

What method are you dosing Kalk via?
I'm doing the standard way, mix up a batch of fully saturated Kalk, let sit for half a day before use and only use the top, clear part of the solution. I continuous drip/dose it at night when the pH is lower in order to flatten my pH swings. Only issue is with my ATO, it kicks in during the day to replace evaporation so I keep adding freshwater into the tank as I dose Kalk.. I need to adjust my salinity every few days. I may try to find a way to only have the ATO run during a specific period of time.
The hydros should be capable of regulating the ato around the kalk dosing volume. Might need to switch to hydros components for the ato and need at least two sense ports
I’ve read hanna are releasing a magnesium tester.
I can’t imagine maintaining a reef with two kids. It’s hard enough for me with just one!

Had same issue with hydros but my controller wouldn’t execute. No heater or nothing would work. Tried everything sold it and got an apex. Have been happy since. Also my sensors (ATO and Skimmer) both rusted. I don’t get how the skimmer sensor rusted since it barley touched water
Sorry to hear about your Hydros problem.. I haven't tried the Apex and I know it has a huge following for good reason. Crazy how the sensors rusted though since they are supposed to operate in water? I have both and will keep an eye on them, thanks for the heads up and glad that you found the system that you like!
