Since you guys really seemed to enjoy the last Animal Crossing Lost Bits video, here we are, back again with the next game in the series: Animal Crossing Wild World for the Nintendo DS!

OG Wild World player here, yeah the online was real fun with hacking and seeds were especially fun to use in your town, as long as you didn't crash your game. You forgot to mention that Nintendo accidentally sent out a "red tulips" item that if placed inside your house made an immovable 1x1 object. Never happened to me thankfully.

Oh my god, he mentioned brick seeds. That's exactly what happened to my first copy of AC WW. Some asshole I added from like gfaqs or sm placed a building right in front of my house where I would normally spawn. Since then, the game never boots past the Nintendo logo lmao

I don’t necessarily think the beehive, paint cans, boxes, etc. were intended to be items for players in WW. I figure they exist as items so they can be spawned into the world, even if the player can never obtain them.
The word placeholders instantly peaks my attention. Still never played the game... I'll play it if you play N. Sane Trilogy 🤔

Right: atesaki wo kaeru (I think from the difficult to read kana, which may mean Change/ Return Address possibly? I dunno)
Green Box -
Top - sentakushi (Options, then number)
Bottom - really not sure on that one.
Black Box-
Left: OK (OK)
Middle: Yameru (Stop, Quit)
Right: Hokano (Other)
The rest of the text seems a little scruffy. It's too small to actually display all the pixels that make up the kana... So, screwed if I know.

My sister had a perfect ACWW town, with golden flowers and a complete house and all. She usually let me play the game, and I went online a couple times. I accidentally brought seeders into the town, and now the game crashes when I pick a player. R.I.P

The Japanese you requested translating - the top graphic says "Yes", "No" and "Go back/Cancel"
Middle graphics says "Options" at the top and I think "monthdaytime" at the bottom
The bottom graphic says from right to left, top row: "• OK • Stop/Quit/Cancel • Other •"
Second row: "Town name • Age"
Bottom: "Name" (would be the players from context)

The Four leaf clover in the book has an explanation...If you put a four leaf clover in a book and close it, it will last longer and act as a dehydrator...My grandma used to tell me to do it whenever i found one as a kid
You can wear the clover in WW. I collected them as a kid and always wore one, it sets over your ear like a flower. Drag it to your character in the menu!
Yes, my mistake!
You can place four leaf clovers or other leaves or flower petals inside a book, between two sheets of absorbant paper. Then close the book carefully and stack some more books on top. Leave it there to completely dry. I usually leave mine for a few months.
That way they will be conserved and you can keep them without them rotting or getting moldy. But be aware, they are then very fragile and brittle once dried.
I use this method since my childhood days, everytime I encounter a four leaf clover.
You can then glue them into your planner, diary, other books or use them to decorate cards or other things.
i dont think anyone really understands the hexadecimal stuff on the debug screen, its more likely that if the game was being run on a dev kit or test unit it would be attached to a computer which would give more info about why the crash occurred and stuff like that

By use of Homebrew Channel I remember City Folk having a lot of unused items that you couldn't normally obtain, like a Pikmin item. Looking forward to that one!

Not the best at reading Japanese, but the top line of text is split into 3 boxes. The first box says "Hai" which means Yes and the one next to it says "iie" (pronounced E-eh) which means "No". The last box I can translate to "Atesakiwokaero" but idk what it means

Remidns me of the one time I had a stranger visit my town that turned out to be a "hacker". It ended up with him spawning a money tree in the middle of a pond, just so I can never reach it. Looking at this video I am glad he didn't do much worse and I've never relly been sad or even mad about that tree.

Epic Games released Amnesia: The Dark Descent for free. It has a mysterious super_secret.rar-File in the file structure of the game. Maybe you can do a Lost Bits about that game!

The four leaf clover turning into a book is a reference to book pressing. Its belived to be good luck to press 4 leaf clovers into books with a wish (same with certain flowers) youll find them in old books from the 40s and earlier especially! Youll still find them in books from the 80s and a bit below too (just not as common)!
It's nice to see more videos on animal crossing! this is my least favourite in the franchise, but it's still interesting to see scrapped content

Actually, the four leaf clover wearing mechanic was in City Folk
Fun fact: The name for the verbalization of the notes of a major scale is solfege.
As a software developer, I am gonna make a logical guess that the "12345678901234567890" string was used to test the textbox width and possibly linewrap functionality. And that the "test message" string was used as a placeholder during development.
Even though I used to play primarily Wild World before New Horizons (since I had no other game and I didn't like pocket camp) it feels weird to now look at your character walking, I've already gotten used to the high quality of New Horizons.
This is personally my least favorite mainline game in the series for taking noticeable steps back from the Game Cube for me (i.e. no basement, no land levels, top screen being practically pointless, etc.), but I liked this video regardless.

Actually, I think it's "Change destination/address" and is an interface for confirming to send a letter through the Post Office. Were you able to decipher the character after に? It looks garbled to me, but I thought it would most likely be 変 as in 変える. I don't see how it could say "home." The first word, "address/destination" is being acted on by a verb, whose character is garbled. Home is not a verb, so... I'm not sure how that would work out?
I'd love a few of those orange floating boxes! THEY ARE JUST SO INTERESTING.
I've got my Game bricked once, but was able to fix it with Action Replay modul :)
I think DS carts are more limited memory wise and at the time flash memory was still relatively expensive*. I'd imagine as a result game developers were probably more careful about what they left in games so as to keep the memory footprint down.
*It is still more expensive than disc based media but it's a lot closer now especially for WORM (Write Once Read Many) flash memory.
The clover being a book is probably just because that's how people press flowers and clovers to keep them

9:08 I’m nit fluent, But I’m currently learning japanese. Luckily this is all hiragana, so I am able to read it by memory (can’t with katakana lol)
From top left to right to bottom, left to right:
はい means yes
I can’t properly read the middle character of the next. If I had to guess, I’d say it’s an い and with the context of the other bit, I think it’s いいえ or ‘no’
And here’s where it gets tricky. I don’t know many words, so from this, I don’t really know what it says. I can read most characters, some are slightly unclear, and I could tell you what they say, but not what they mean.
Eg: I know the 4th one is ‘sentakeshi’ but not what that means. The 3rd one I can’t even figure out what 2 of the characters are meant to be, probably because they’re either not hiragana, the pixelated graphics, or both.
Puppup09 From what i can make of it あてさきをかえる means return to destination or something along those lines? せんたくし is choice whilst がつにち is time/ day of the month? And at the bottom it says ok, stop, other. The i believe it says village (something), age and name. The rest of the characters are too pixelated and unclear 😓
