Well you certainly made this your own! I'm going to say for the benefit of other BW mavens who might be tempted to 'react' to this strange cover of a priceless masterpiece-- listen to it on its own terms, not in contrast to the original. It's quite interpretive in the revised meter of the lyric, which is its strength, I think. The original music itself cannot be improved upon, but this re-version really does honor to the other, non-the-less.
I think this is way better than the original.
Its so experimental, dark, and moving.
@jbdtaylor Agreed lol. What's sad is they did it in several other songs too, one being this very song, Good Vibrations, and Wild Honey.
He's given it a totally different sound, I like it ^^ Not really comparable though.
Lot's of people over 50 completely disappointed.

It's a different take on a classic song, which is acceptable in itself. The only problem I have with this is that Patrick's voice is just far too strong for the song. Brian's vocals have some sort of vulnerability about them, which is what makes the classic so good in the first place. I don't think this one is for everybody, but it's not a bad take on the song, not by a longshot.
