I love your tree Michael! It reminds me of of an old fashioned, simple, but elegant, and captures the essence of Christmas! Great Job~ Also, love the Red Poinsettia one too, and the fact you didn't get the flowers with the middle filled in glitter, spot on I say!
MT, love your DIY videos. Would love to love to see more. Holiday themed is great but even everyday decor would be nice. We or I would love to see the remodel of the home you & Richard are re-doing, as you go. Behind the scenes are always great!
I love this tree! My favorite kind with lots of space between benches. It’s so pretty and Old World. Oh, Michael! I laughed out loud when you said these %@#+ lights, $&@#% lights…haha I had to rewind it and watch again. You are such a joy to watch. I haven’t seen those but am intrigued. How I wish we were neighbors. Your new garland is stunning. Your creativity has no bounds. ❤❤❤
Our English friends who have lived in the States for 35+ years always choose a live sparse evergreen that they decorate in a Victorian look. The tree is so lovely and authentic looking. I think you are capturing that look. Looking forward to more videos on your decorating!!
Great job sharing how to make a tree sparkle. Those lights are so perfect for your tree and the DIY garland is beautiful. As always your creativity shows and others can easily take what you have done and incorporate it into their decor as well. Can't wait to see more. Thank you!
I must admit, I was skeptical when I first saw the tree and the lights. How is he going to make anything out of that, I wondered. But once you put that DIY garland on, it was magical! I'm really digging it! Cant wait to see it with your ornaments. I am really enjoying this series!
OMG Those LIGHTS!!! This is a fine example of your kind and patient personality. If I had those I would eventually get them on but with many MANY cussing/ crying breaks. I love your sparse tree. Very pretty!!!
It reminds me of my mom mom’s tree (I’m now 76). It was artificial & looked like a wooden pole with about 10 branches but she decorated it every year, if I had it would surely put it up.
Beautiful tree! We are still cutting trees every year with forest permits now vs tree farms when we lived in northern MN. So Charlie Brown trees for now, but they are a renewable resource and there are uses for them after the holidays. Love your decorating as usual! Your patience is admirable!
I absolutely love this DIY…so pretty and tree is fabulous 🎄 I would love to see more of these types of videos especially when decorating for each holiday 😊
Michael, you are so smart. I would have taken them all off and started again from scratch. Thank you for sharing this idea with all of us. I love the tree!😊❤
Love the beads. A stringing i will go. I have two sets of my grandmothers beads and one extra broken set. I made tiny wreaths out of some of the broken ones for all my family and kept the rest. Now i know what to do with the remaining broken strand, and i have beads. ❤
The tree may look a little spindly at first. But the way the branches are, will really show off your beautiful ornaments. Those lights are another story. They would send me over the edge!!!! But they look beautiful!! The garland is stunning ❤️ and is perfect for this tree.
What a relaxing morning. I made some Mexican-style eggs and watched your video. So fun! I just recently discovered the plug-in fairy lights on a thin wire. I have been using battery-operated ones forever but never on a tree due to battery life, etc. I just purchased my first set for the narrow pencil tinsel tree in my husband's office and they look so appropriate with no wire showing. I have been a big fan of bead garland for 40 years. I used to do a Victorian-inspired tree using pearl and iridescent bead garland for many years. I always looked for live trees with lots of space for the garland to dangle. I love your tree because you have that look built-in. There is something so romantic and fairy forest-looking about this look. You have inspired me to hunt for vintage garlands I can rework. Before, I had just inexpensive plastic, but the glass beads are a whole 'nother world! TFS!
Michael, I love the tree, ours were always real, and cut from the forested land past the back 40. The main tree in the living room was tall and full, but the one in the Children’s room was more like this, but our lights were really old, bubble lights and classic bulbs that didn’t work with one bulb burned out…you had to find the bad light. They were smaller than the big tree lights, and had a lineare texture from tip to base, while the main lights were bigger. We had tint mercury glass garlands, and cranberry popcorn garlands made by us. Our ornaments were Mercury glass fruit shapes, and each year we each created a new ornament of wood and nutshells painted artfully by us. We had creative approaches, some even made with eggshells opened at the front with scenes inside. We had lead tinsel laid on like rain. We has mercury glass birds with fibreglass tails. We then decorated with walnuts, , dried apple rings and apricots, our stockings hung on the bedroom mantel. We baked cookies with holes for easy hanging, and any fresh fruits we could hang. We made suet balls with fruits and seeds and suet stuffed pinecones with seeds. The tree topper was a 5 pointed star with lights. We even hung candy canes. After Winter Solstice, the tree went outside to feed the wildlife, and show the orchard trees what was wanted of them. We splashed water on them to mimic rain. We lit clip on candles to be lit on Winter Solstice. You took me back in time…thank you. It is lovely.🖤🇨🇦
Michael! I loved this video, you are so darn cute! I love when you are being just you! I love you guys tree! Never saw a faux tree that looked so real! Keep posting these videos, I love them!
The garland you created is so beautifully and thoughtfully made…your tree is amazing…and so are you, Michael Todd…thanks for this inspiring, relaxing video.
We made garlands the first year I left home by using beaded curtain strands made with vintage beads from broken class costume jewellery. After the season, we strung them back onto beaded curtains, but it was always easy to slide them from the sliced tubing door rail to put in open doorways. There were tons of 1950s gaudy necklaces made with Czechoslovakian glass beads that weren’t in fashion anymore, so we got two looks and uses from them…only stringing each strand once.🖤🇨🇦
This reminds me of my trip in June in NY, we went on a fairy hunt at night and I have several pictures of them in the trees. And your tree matches my photos! The fairies were several colors, lots of white ones.
I like your tree, Michael. It looks like the real trees we used to have when i was a child. The garlands are great, too. Looking forward to the other the decorations.🎄❣️😊
Michael...Genius.... just Genius with the beads. I have several mercury strands (somewhere in the 50 boxes I have for Christmas..) BUT more important I have 3 feather trees and what a great idea to string beads to mix things up. You definitely have a antique German era vibe happening. Hope you have some Kugels! I have to give kudos to your patience in stringing the fairy lights. I almost threw a set out the door today because I was having so much difficulty untangling them! Can't wait to see it completed!! "All your tree needed was a little love". 🙂
The tree is excellent looking michael Reminds me of a Antique feather tree. Excellent work on the Garland. Did you guys get to treat somewhere local? Thanks for sharing. Keep up the great videos.
After having knot problems with fishing line…I found a perfect solution! Unwaxed dental floss! You have to make sure it’s not a big-o-Mack-daddy choppers size though, lol. 3 knots and boom!
Glad to see you dealing with the lights on your tree. I have the same set and will be using them on a fuller prelite tree. Your tree was great for demonstration purposes. I hope I don't get frustrated there may be screaming and tantrums. 😢😅 thanks. Happy Holidays to you and Richard.
Remember, this was my 3rd time putting them on! 🤣 Thankfully, editing also helps with the tantrums! 🤣 I think a fuller tree with traditional lights and these is going to be MAGICAL!

Love that style of faux tree. Looks like an Alpine Fir, natural.
Thank you! ❤️
It reminds me of my mom mom’s tree (I’m now 76). It was artificial & looked like a wooden pole with about 10 branches but she decorated it every year, if I had it would surely put it up.
Love the tree… it reminds me of my first and only live tree
