    Rope disclaimer:do not go with rope that is rated for lighter rated rope than the magnet. Always go with 2-3 times the rating of magnet so you can always retrieve magnet if possibly snagged and to be able to hoist your finds without fail. Plus if rope does get a knot in it the rope can decrease upto 50% of its strength. Also if a section gets a fray and you dont realize it, the strength of rope if less than the magnet gets snagged you can bet it will be lost but if using a rope rated 2-3x the magnet strength there is a good chance you can potentially retrieve it.

    • @jthreeb
      @jthreeb  2 года назад

      That is a 500lbs single sided magnet. There great for dropping straight down. If you want to cast out i recommend a double sided magnet, that way theres more chances to get something.

      Best bet, use a double sided magnet, you can use them anywhere, there strong and durable! You can find them at brutemagnetics.com/discount/JTHREEB Use this link and get %10 off. And your finds, well you can keep them or scrap them and get a bit of money back. I scrap most finds, but sometimes you get something worth keeping! Good luck out there! Your going to do well!

    So, I bought a magnet awhile back...300lb. I think I should have gotten a 100lb one instead, just in case it sticks to a submerged washing machine or whatever and I wouldn't be able to retrieve the magnet. Am I correct in going for a smaller magnet?

    • @jthreeb
      @jthreeb  2 года назад +1

      I would stick to what you have, 300lb of bull, is only at maximum if you're on a flat smooth clean surface. If you flip onto a washing machine in the water LOL, it'll have corrosion rust sand mud and so much in between. That you won't get a maximum hold on the magnet. You will be able to move it, but the magnet will not get stuck

      if you mean to stop from getting it snagged in the water? Yes adding a plastic bottle top will greatly help your chances of not getting stuck. If you want to prevent the magnet from sticking to things while you travel, use Styrofoam, it blocks magnetivity!
