- Instead of doing a traditional Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3 Camera review I decided to compare it to the current flagship cameras out there. I could of done a Galaxy Z Flip 3 vs iPhone 12 Pro, Galaxy Z Flip 3 vs Galaxy S21 and a Galaxy Z Flip vs Galaxy S21 Ultra video separately but I decided to do an all in one video so you can enjoy the more Real World Camera Test between all of these smartphones. If you want a full Galaxy Z Flip 3 review let me know I can do a one month in depth review. Did the Z Flip 3 camera surprise you or is it what you expected?

I was expecting something like this, because when watching your comparisons over the years i got a feeling what to expect from this type of sensors on the z flip, they are basically very similar to the on the S10+ and older Samsungs...
Will flip3 support new version of Gcam..?
Video is great, photos look great and imo much more natural than iphones overdone HDR. Sometimes you need that slight overexposure or underexposure to get that accurate look. As an 12 pro max user i always am underimpressed by the camera, the HDR is too loud and i usually dont get accurate representation at all. Also, maybe the regular 12 pro is just better optimised, but at night i cant get the detail i want, especially from lights and even when turning down exposure it still overexposes certain places. Havent had that problem with any of my previous phones.
I didn't have high expectations of the cameras of the flip3 so when I got the phone the actual photo results surpassed my previous low expectations. I however think most people are aware that the flip3 doesn't offer the best camera on the market but those who buy the phone want the flexibility of the phone and the cool factor of course 😁
The Flip 3 camera is good enough for what it brings overall...IMO....

I think we are getting to a point where smartphone camera deliver almost identical results but it all depends on wt brand u love the most not camera🤷🏽♂️

It was confirmed that the 12 MP main sensor in the flip 3 is a different sensor to last year's one
In my country, iPhone 12 pro is more expensive than Z flip 3. So I prefer to Z flip 3.

If you extract the actual image files out of the phone, put it on a computer or laptop, then that is the best way to test image quality, which is what you're doing. iPhone is good in terms of taking the photo on the phone, then posting it to social media such as instragram, facebook or iMessages. I've noticed that a lot of apps are optimized very well on the iPhone so that when you upload your photos/videos to these social media platform directly from the iPhone, the quality doesn't degrade to hell due to really good compression. I have a OnePlus phone and uploading a picture to Instagram compresses the picture so much that it looks like crap. However, if I take that picture and transfer it to my computer, and then also transfer a similar picture from the iPhone to my computer, the OnePlus actually looks better.
It's really tricky to explain compression and app optimizations to most people and they'll just see it as "oh I took this picture on my iPhone and uploaded it to Instagram and it looks much better compared to this other picture that was taken on Samsung".
Foldables really are the future. We're only in Phase 1 with it. The worst stage for new tech. Fold 3 and Flip 3 are just appetizers for much better foldables in the future.

Two of my favorite phones ever came from that boring era of 2017-2019 where we lost headphone jack, less bezel, got notches or punch holes, Face ID crap, and glass slabs that all looked the same. But each platform got very mature by 2018, cameras became amazing, and the latest SoCs and specs became overkill for the average phone user.
I got both phones and the Zflip camera is really good.
I'm deciding between the flip 3 & 21 ultra. Which would you chose if you coukd only have 1?

The pics where you said there was a 'big difference', the difference was miniscule to my eyes, whether the comparison was to the iPhone or either of the Galaxies. In fact, I liked the people pics better from the Flip than I did from the iPhone, especially in low light. All in all the Flip gives a great performance and I wouldn't feel shortchanged in terms of picture/video quality by getting it; those aspects have been so good on smartphones for a couple of years now that any improvement in quality year to year is hardly noticeable in the vast majority of shooting scenarios.
I'm coming from a regular S21 and the only real difference I see is the inability to really zoom in and still get a good picture. The lack of a telephoto lens hurts there but every other situation seems the same to me
I was initially a little concerned about the Flip/Fold 3 camera hardware compared to the S21. Like you said most shots are very comparable between the Folding phones and the S21 Ultra. Only the obvious with the zoom is affected but most of my shots from S21 Ultra came from the main sensor. Thanks for the video and not seeing a big difference either!

Been using the s21 for almost 3 months, it was alright for the first two months however lately it started heating up close to 50 c when maps and navigation is on

This makes me feel okay about my decision to return S21 U for Z Flip 3
That's a downgrade.
S21 ultra has a slightly bigger display bigger battery and better cameras with 100x zoom.

@@electrology don't forget to always have a couple of power banks ready for when it runs flat you'll be charging it twice on a daily a friend of mine has a ZFlip 3 they are charging the phone two times daily I'm not trying to sway you just stating the facts.

Mobile tech is returning to the innovation era of 2007-2013. A time when each year felt like a major leap forward. In 2 years, my Flip 3 will feel very dated. Can only fold once. Weak.
Its honestly pretty good. The only issue is the battery.

I've been with samsung (and android) all my life but I love the iPhone cameras and UI ...so my options are either the new iPhone 13, the iPhone 12 pro (which i used for a bit before returning it since I used it not too long ago), or the Samsung z flip 3! This made me realize I should just bite the bullet and go for the iPhone club, since I'm a content creator

I was shocked at how well the flip help its own. Don't get me wrong, its definitely not the same level of S21 and 12 Pro but still it did pretty good
i expected this from flip, as their sensors are same power as iphone 12 and this time they jave focused on user experience and software, so it meet my expectations
The galaxy Z Flip has a good camera but it can definitely be *better.* Once it has capabilities to match the S21's camera and be utilised as an overall power user smartphone, is when I'll be dropping my money on it. Great video, Danny! 💪🏻
Can someone answer this question if you're phone has 120hz screen do videos on RUclips play in 120hz. Would note 10 plus play a video the same as say s21 ultra
When things get perfected, it gets boring. Having a perfect marriage can get boring. Phones from 2017 and later got boring but also perfected.

if you may know, if you make a Camera Comparison video. is the AI feature on the Android Smartphone turned off or on? iPhone doesn't have Scene AI which makes camera results so good

iPhone does have AI. My iPhone 12 has scene detection in the settings.

Great video as alway! In my opinion the s21 ultra video at night was way better than flip 3's in this comparison, more stable, less judder, much more detail. Didn't understand how you preferred galaxy flip 3 in this occasion. But I agree with your overall statement that samsung is really bad (against top competition) in low light video. This and the fact that we can´t get a good still photo at night of our children and pets (because they are always moving and the shutter speed is low) is very sad (as a Samsung user :/). @Danny Winget
Well just because I like it more and the way it looks doesn’t mean it’s technically better. I hate super noisy video and I rather have some contrast to kill the noise. I hope Samsung improves this in the next phones.
@@dannywinget I just don´t like noisy videos as well, and prefer dark images as long as the lights are not all blown out and the noise is reduced. I think my perception here was different because of the little screen in which I'm watching the video. Thanks for the reply!

I'm seeing these tri-fold concepts and rollable displays. The Flip 3 and Fold 3 look outdated by comparison already! Even the Pixel Fold which hadn't been released yet.
