The only tip I have that works for me is that when I have something that I am doing that is effecting me negatively, I know that when I try to quit completely I give up and fail, so instead I allow myself one time a week to do it, it gives me something to look forward to, for me would be going out drinking, but I've never smoked so maybe that's different. That's what works for me anyway but everybody different.
With any addiction it usually helps to identify the patterns/triggers if you are unsuccessful going cold turkey. For instance, if you always smoke before bed, first thing after a stressful day of work, etc, change up the pattern. It can also help to make it less convenient or only do it in a location that you wouldn’t otherwise frequent so it doesn’t become a triggering spot. Someone trying to quit cigs might start forcing themselves to only smoke outside in uncomfortable wx in the garage or side of the house where they don’t frequent. Generally the lack of convenience will lead to a decline in usage and break any connection to places or events that start a craving.
Smoking is your choice too quit if you want too stop then just stop. I still smoke but did stop for 2 month and I used lollipops as my cigarette and helped.
