I was able to procure a MacBook Pro 2021 (end of the line for Intel CPUs) for $400 on ebay. Came in wonderful shape, only slightly cosmetic damange on the back, but otherwise in immaculate shape. This damage is extremely easy to overlook, it came with an official charger (unlike most for sale), and the battery is in great shape. Thus my entry into the Apple ecosystem. I got this as a tool to learn from as there are several clients who use MacBooks full time in their company and I need to be able to support them by understanding some of the processes. Overall, adapting has been pretty easy, but there are some technical aspects that drive me crazy. Overall, it's not too hard to learn and this OS is very stable. The MacBook that I have runs OS Sonoma and should be supported for a few more years. I might sit pretty once I upgrade to a device that has an M1 or better CPU.
