Here we go!!! New year, new show and this one, we've been talking about it for a while! We knew about Sopranos, but when we reacted to Breaking Bad and heard it kinda got inspired by thi, we just had to waych it...so meet Tony Soprano, father, cheating husband, son to a mother who has a TON of issues and important member of the Italian-American mafia! He's doing his best to make things work, but his anxiety and stress are catching up to him D: You need to talk about your feelings, man.

This pilot was filmed in 97 and seems different from the show in feel and facts. The rest of Season 1 was filmed in 98. And this first episode you just watched almost seems like any other TV series and doesn't feel like the Sopranos yet.
By the time you get to Season 1 episode 5 that is the first time you realize you're watching something different, something special. That to me is when the Sopranos as I know it is born. A glimpse anyways. But Season 2 episode onward especially.
The series gets better and better with each episode and each Season we swear.
The Sopranos debuted 25 years ago last Wednesday. So you picked a milestone time to start the series.

Welcome to the Sopranos. One thing that might be good to know: when they wrote the pilot, they made Tony the boss. But once they got picked up for a full season, they decided he should have more of an arc and made him a captain instead. For the pilot to still make sense, though, they wrote it as Tony having stepped up to run things temporarily.
Aaah ok, ok, it makes more sense now!

Happy to see you starting this show! This was a watershed in TV entertainment, and just a few days ago was the 25th anniversary of its premiere.
This is a nice surprise, I didn't know you were going to watch the show. I actually watched the show for the first time myself a year or two ago. Very good choice and I hope you two have fun 😁

Wow, well i wasnt expecting you to react to sopranos but i'll definitely be watching these. Theres alot of these "best tv show ever", but Sopranos might actually be the best tb show ever 😅
That's what we heard n.n it's been on our list for quite a while, I'm happy we finally get to see what the hype is about xD
And in the end, it's just another overhyped show. 🤷

Im curious about something tho, did you not include Christopher's hit at the butcher shop bc you dont show violence on your channel? (This is the first vid of yours ive scene). Its a pretty big/important scene so i was suprised it was left out.

Welcome!! :D I wanted to include it in the beginning, but this was a biiig episode and I can only show 10 minutes of it (because of copyrights) so I ended up having to take out some important scenes (that one included, unfortunately)

Sopranos is known fot being very realistic. So much that the actual mob watched the show and contacted the producers. And Paulie in real life still has connections to that world since he used to be about that life.
The founding member of the golden era of television. You're in for a treat.
The start is kind of slow, but hang on. You'll get some of the best caracter development in TV, plus some of the more iconic characters, while seeing some fantastic filmography/storytelling.
I have watched at least half this show in YT clips... I need to actually sit down and watch it

You guys are going to like this. Idk if it’s been mentioned, but I recall Fimmell (Ragnar from Vikings) said he took inspiration for his performance from Gandolfini/Tony. Makes a ton of sense actually.
The Breaking Bad comparisons are fair too. Fact is there an argument none of the golden age tv series exists without Sopranos.

just a quick tidbit about the show, the first season is a bit different than the rest of the seasons. cuz they weren't sure if it was gonna be popular.

Without going into spoilers, toward the end of the series, Tony has a “business” conversation with two French Canadians. From my US perspective, the Franglais they use sounds clumsy, and takes me right out of the moment. I’d be interested to get your take on it.
Oooh! When we get there, that's gonna be funny xD They rarely use actual french (or french canadian) people for those roles, we'll see how they did ;)

You know a program is good when you find the characters basically repulsive but you still can't stop watching. Having said that, there is a scene in later seasons that I found so upsetting I genuinely considered no longer watching (and I'm not talking about when one character is shown dressed in leather).
XD now I'm very intrigued!
