Holy shit. I didn't realize anyone remembered this old gem. (The original, that is.) Way back when, it was my first introduction to trolling, and I loved every bit of it!
The remastered stuff looks really good, but the new stuff. It feels like the creator really doesn't understand why Cat Mario was so interesting, massive dip in quality there, but hopefully can be worked on.
I agree as well. The reboot removed a bunch of trolls from the final boss fight, instead adding just a bunch of simple platforming element. There only was two new trolls in the entire video: The background pretending to be ground in the first level, and the platform getting destroyed early in the new final level. Also, the new character's name makes no sense. Syobon (actually a bad romanization from しょぼん, shobon) is litterally the name of the kaomoji used for the main character's face (meaning "down-hearted"), but binsyon (which would be written びんしょん) is not a japanese word.

Once I said DGR greatest flaw was STANDING STILL in a troll level. I would like to change my opinion (2:40): it's clearly the never working DGR garantee and the dedications of a not-yet-reached victory.
Bro this remake is awesome! I remember playing the original Syobon Action and it was trolly but a game that was interesting. This remake is awesome with the backgrounds, differences in levels, and a boss battle! I can't wait to see what this remake has in store!

The finale is very cool and all but definitely missing the cat mario charm, it’s just playforming and not trolling which is basically what cat mario was all about imo

Hey Dave, you should definitely check the actual sequel to syobon (levels 5-8) if you haven't already. It the first four are the definition of troll, then these are actually a lot more like Kaizo. I think you'll like them.
He had not completed the first cat Mario game. He still hasn’t played world 2. Also, he needs to play Syobon Action 3 and 4. In order to get to W2 of Syobon Action, get doddlebob to throw you above the stage before the boss and you’ll get the bag of secret something and get sent to the 5th level.
I actually completed cat mario including 2nd world (and it was a pain in the ass) but i wont add those levels. Much less will add SA3 and 4 levels since they're not official.

It's a little off, in the original game you could jump on the ghosts that shoot up out of pipes and it would send you flying offscreen.
to do this hold the up key on your keyboard when falling on the ghosts that shoot up from the pipes to jump on them

Yes, he has not beaten Cat Mario completely. The Cat Mario 2 he played was a fan game, and was not the real game made by Chiku.
