I was considering using all center channel speakers in my apartment for Dolby Atmos instead of Atmos enabled speakers; working with a small budget, but have four extra center channel speakers.
Literally a Theater in a box that can go in your home haha. 28 channels is ridiculously awesome. The ceiling array of speakers is really interesting idea.
Yeah. You do have to buy an amp for every channel. The alternative is buying the trinnov that does 32 channel processing and you still have to buy amps for that one. The price difference is huge. That one costs $30,000 and the emotiva is 5K. I think its cool that they are bringing that performance at a lower price point.
My notes on this visit: The RMC-1's 8k upgrade chip is estimated to cost around $500 ish. An upgrade chip with 4 channels (if I remember right) may be around $600. Once you plug in the upgrade mods, they automatically integrate with the processor. The channels are virtual, and can be assigned as any output you require. The speaker cabinets are going to phase out the cut out bevel between the speaker in later revisions. The overhead presence speakers can be chained together in a clover pattern to point in every direction, all pushed from a SINGLE channel from the AMP. A four by four grid as powering the demo room allows each person below to hear ATMOS directional-ity. The sound in this room was quite impressive, and any seat in the audience could hear a full directional ATMOS presentation. The BasX line is pronounced "basics". Not BASS -X like SpaceX.
Don’t waste your money. I sent my RMC-1 back because it doesn’t do most of the things it promised. It still doesn’t have Dirac Live. It has display issues, lag issues, dropout issues, hdmi issues (won’t always find your device and you have to reboot), and the list goes on and on. And these are issues that are still happening after multiple firmware updates. The last update was months ago. The RMC-1 is crap and is not worth 5k. Everyone that owns it is just a beta tester that spent $5000 to be one. I love my Emotiva amps but, at this moment in time I will never buy another processor from them.
Dang man. Sorry to hear that. Im thinking they will have all the kinks worked out when they roll out the rmc-1L and the xmc-2 this summer. They share alot of the same components. Haha. This one has a higher starting cost but in the long run you will never need to get rid of it. Everything is upgrade-able as the time comes. So usually buying the latest AVR every 2-3 years seems like wasted money compared to this one. Thats the main reason im excited
isaacsykes3 Software Issues. Audio & Video either cutting out completely or not syncing, freezing and bricking it’s self, hdmi channels not recognizing signals, etc. However, I will give them the benefit of the doubt given that this is their first line of processors. But I do think further testing and troubleshooting should have been done before their release.
Check the dates on those complaints. Some should already be resolved. Also They have the new ones coming out the rmc-1L and the xmc-2. Lot of the same processing goes into all of them. I think all the kinks will iron out if they havnt started to already
That Home Theater Dude / Those complaints were during its initial release (The week they were shipped out). I do hope that they addressed those issues because I believe their processors are game changers for sure 👍🏾
I’m all up for even more channels. But unsure yet if I would go with the modular one. You can spend thousands on upgrades, but then, when the time does come, and you want to sell it, they’ll always be a Denon or Marantz at less than half the price with as many channels. By that time. I’d rather go 16ch now, which there isn’t really any point in an upgrade for me yet, then do 12/24 months with that, then trade in or sell to upgrade. From my understanding Dolby are going to max out at 32 channels in the home anyway. Great video👍🏻
Is there any source material available today that uses 16 discreet channels (nevermind 28)? I'm still very happy with my 7.1 setup, and honestly I don't think very many sources really use the 6th and 7th channels anywhere near what they are capable of. This seems like ridiculous overkill to me.
I think thats why they developed proprietary processor. It allows for non native signal to be converted more or less in an interpolation type of fashion. Again this is speculation because I don't know how they designed their software.
Atmos and DTS:X are not channel based. The recording engineer places sounds in 3D space and the processor makes optimal use of your particular speaker layout to place the sounds in the correct location whether your setup is 5.1.2, 7.1.4 or all the way up to 24.1.10 (the maximum for the consumer version of Atmos which is currently only available with Trinnov/JBL Synthesis processors).
Holy shit, until i start getting enough money from my job. I can actually build a 16 channel home cinema. My dream was to do a 9.x.6. with 4 or more subwoofers. Real 4K projectors are getting less expensive and lazers and and , what a time to be alive!
@John Smith I've had it only for a couple of months and so far I can't complain. Everything good. Now abouy their pre amps, I've heard the same, to buggy
Unfortunately for me the expense of a system like this is out of my reach. But not because of the cost of the system. It's the cost of buying or building a house with a dedicated theater room. My opinion: If you're spending any more than a few thousand on you AV system, it is only worthwhile if you have a specially designed space to put it in. I've never come across a rental house/apartment that has a large enough rectangular room with one doorway that is noise isolated and will let you mount speakers in the ceiling. TLDR: Unless you have an ideal room to put it in, don't spend big money on an AV system. But we can dream....
stick with the channel. I showcase all kinds of systems. I filmed a few more of my subscribers spaces that are really cool to check out. Preconceived notions are dispelled when you see other people doing what you think isnt possible in spaces you never thought possible. Even my room is super small. Sounds pretty sweet though
Daisy chain the subs. the 9.1.6 set up that they have off of the RMC-1 they use 9 channels for the horizontal 4 subs off of one sub preout. they use the subs with the ins and outs on the back of the subs. The heights are very interesting in there demo. how do you do 4 speakers on the same channel and maintain the same impedance? Im sure they have smarter people than me designing this stuff.
That Home Theater Dude I know about daisy chain... doesn’t it decrease the power of the subs. For Example, 1 sub sounds better than when daisy chaining 2. I notice a decrease in out put Bc I have 4 SVS PB-2000’s Daisy chain. I’m using a y splitter from sub 1 to sub 2, sub 3 to sub 4. They are split though the LFE input. I don’t think I’m tuning then Parallel? I want to know how they connected them, so that they can produce the same Empedence
Did you buy one and have first hand experience with the RMC-1? Or are you going by word of mouth on the internet about its functionality? Dollar wise they are doing a noble thing. they are offering those big cinema experiences at home for a fraction in cost of what the other guys are doing. Are they perfect? I dont know I havent tested one yet. But I plan on getting one in house so I can pass it on to you guys.
How do you know if everything is fixed if your source of information is the internet. Check dates, check facts. otherwise you are putting negative connotation to something over what your cousins brothers, sister heard from a guy on the subway. Make sense?
@@ThatHomeTheaterDude There are actual user reports on sites like AVS Forum. Emotiva continues to release Beta products, making the consumer their final tester. I'm considering the upcoming Monoprice HTP-1 9.1.6 processor. It's an ATI/Datasat design, so hopefully more stable. I just wish it was expandable.
I want your testimonial and not others. Your just bad mouthing something in which you dont have first hand experience. How is that helpful? The monoprice has been in development for a while and isnt available until the fall. I dont doubt its a great avr too, but its not out yet.

I saw on their website that the dirac is still in development for the RMC-1. Im sure they will make it available to the early purchasers once it becomes live. They have the RMC-1L and the XMC-2 coming out this summer so Im guessing alot of the same components go into those as well. I cant speak on the products until I review them. Im excited to check them all out though
That Home Theater Dude True, but this is even more ridiculous for a product that they originally promised to be shipping over a year ago... Emotiva makes great amps but processors not

I think it was a licensing thing. Even on the super expensive ones like the trinnov, its a $2500 add on. I can ask them if you want
Sure. Have them elaborate. Thank you in advance. At these prices, these pre-amps should play everything.
Does Emotiva products have Imax Enhanced?
Dont know. I can ask.
NICEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
How do you run the subwoofers parallel?
From my understanding sub preouts send a signal to be amplified. Its not the same as connecting speakers when dealing with subs.
That Home Theater Dude I need a clearer clarification on this. How exactly should 4 subs be connected ?
So what pre-outs should I use?
Too bad the processors don’t work as intended. Great price but Storm and Trinnov are only real options for more than 16 channels right now.
Let them fix all the bugs in the RMC-1 first when we'll talk.
The Trinnov Altitude 32 is still the best processor in the market because you can have up to 34 channels (24.1.10)!
Perhaps, but you would need a room the size of a real cinema for it to make sense.
@@droidzhunterz6861 True dat.
Thats almost $30,000. These were designed to bring that experience home without the cost of a brand new car.
Man the money for those things the rmc can get you close for a fraction of the prices and they are more flexible
@@ThatHomeTheaterDude smh u know
I don't think my 8-foot ceilings will cut it, will need at least 12-foot for those overhead arrays.
You dont have to do arrays. its pretty cool how they did that though
how did the room sound
Sounded amazing. Bass was thick and full the surround was crazy realistic too.
@@ThatHomeTheaterDude thats awesome i love emotiva
Yeah. Im super pumped to be working with those guys. They are very supportive of my channel and they have a cool philosophy. I like the idea of modular electronics. I hate buying new stuff every 2 years just to keep up with the current trends. They allow you to upgrade your stuff as time goes on and i think that is really cool
That's exactly why I love them lol
28 speakers in the living room WAF level zero
Bye wife, hello 28 channel 🙃
8k video coming out already?? hell 4k isn't fully implemented.
I talked with a fiber HDMI company and they have building their HDMI for 8k for a few years now. I should get a unit to review sometime soon.
My question is, why would they not make amps that match their speakers?
???
@@ThatHomeTheaterDude There amps seem to be over powered for their speakers.
I was gonna go to Axpona! But xbox live took my last 20 bucks lmao
Yeah with flights, uber, tickets, and snacks it was a nice chunk of change to make it happen Well worth it. Met some really cool people
Looks like audio overkill, at a not so cheap cost.
explain what audio overkill is
My sincere apologies. I read something into that that wasn't there.
No problems buddy. I built this channel on putting you guys first. I think thats what separates me from the other youtube reviewers. Thanks for watching Nathan
Prince Courts
28 channels wtf 😂
For the RMC1 people are complaining everywhere that the HDMI connections are extremely unreliable and the room correction doesnt work either.
I saw on their website that the dirac is still in development for the RMC-1. Im sure they will make it available to the early purchasers once it becomes live. I have heard that they have hit some bumps along the way with this product too. Im sure they are getting it sorted.
